The views are spectacular. The place was quiet and you never saw any neighbors. Cheryl was wonderful, she got back to me right away. I would highly recommend the rental home.
This is a very quiet, clean, and well-stocked home to have your vacation. We found it to be very comfortable. It really did have everything you would need. The property is just like being at Joshua Tree National Park - lots of rocks to climb and explore. We didn't see the big tortoise, too early in the season, but we did feed the hummingbirds. We saw a lot of little lizards. The porch is a wonderful place to sit and relax and watch the birds.
Everything is true that all the previous guests wrote who gave this wonderful place five stars, from the peaceful, scenic location* to the charming, immaculate, well-equipped home to the owner's helpfulness!
Definitely will return!
* The adjacent nature preserve has the same terrain and is as spectacular as nearby Joshua Tree National Park, the main difference being that there aren't any people in the preserve - you'll have it pretty much to yourself.
Another happy camper! Yes, the road is dirt for the last little bit, and if you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere -- no tub (only shower), no internet, no dishwasher. Instead, we had privacy, beauty and serenity, with birds in the morning and the occasional coyote. The bed is super comfy and warm, and the woodstove was great (although optional). The assorted teas were particularly appreciated, and if I had discovered the medicine cabinet in the bathroom earlier I wouldn't have needed to buy lotion -- no biggie. There are also lots of books and games and videos.
We really enjoyed our talks with Cheryl (she delivered bandaids when we needed a couple) and learning about the home. The house was very clean and welcoming, and we were delighted to save the cleaning fee by performing a few simple chores.
We did make morning arrival reservations so we wouldn't have to try to figure out where to go in the dark; it was a good decision. But that's because we are not accustomed to doing much travel out of our comfort zone.
Truly, looking back, it felt like we had called an old friend in the area asking if she knew a place where we could stay and being told, why don't you stay at my grandparents' place next door to me? (It's literally true, except that we never met Cheryl before booking this trip.) There was nothing I would change, and I hope that we will get to visit Joshua Tree NP again.
This home provided for a quiet, peaceful weekend stay. We enjoyed the birds that came to visit while we spent time on the covered front porch. The house itself was very clean and spacious, and reminiscent of visiting your grandmother. Cheryl was a very helpful hostess.
This is our second time staying at Cheryl's to finish hiking in Joshua Tree National Park. You cannot beat the beautiful, peaceful setting and homey feel of this place. It's stocked with everything you would need and is very clean. There is a large front porch for eating or swinging on the swing relaxing. It is close in proximity to restaurants, grocery stores, shopping and attractions. Sitting outside at night star gazing is incredible. We also enjoyed feeding the birds every morning, watching hummingbirds, woodpeckers, quail, roadrunners, pigeons, scrub jays, jack rabbits and chipmunks. Would recommend staying here just to relax and enjoy the scenery if you are not into hiking as well.
Other Activities: Rock climbing, off- roading, old mine areas, indian petroglyphs, orchid farm
