Located on George's Pond in Franklin, Maine, this lovely beachside cottage is the vacationers dream. Located within miles of the ocean and the magnificent Acadia National Park, this cottage boasts a queen bed in the master bedroom, a double bed in the guest room and five twin beds in the two upstairs bedrooms.
Two 2 person kayaks, a canoe and an aluminum rowboat, as well as a dock, and a swimming float gives you all sorts of water activity possibilities or you can sit on the front porch and watch the children play on the beach or swim in the pond. Catch trout, bass, and pickerel in the waters, as well.
Numerous hiking trails are located in the Franklin area, as well. Wildlife is abundant in the forests surrounding the cottage.
Bald eagles, ospreys and loons are frequent visitors to the Pond in front of the cottage. In the evening you can stargaze, cook s'mores in the beach side fire pit, or simply sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surroundings.
Or kick back and have a lobster bake on the beach.

Maine is home and a beautiful place to vacation.
Kayaking, fishing, swimming, hiking, and watching eagles and ospreys 'fish'.
I have rented several cabins over the years and have never been to one as fully equipped as the "Looney Lodge". There were 4 children (2-15), 3 adults and a dog -- all of whom were fully occupied with the activities available. We only spent 1 day at Acadia because we were so happy being at the cabin. Everything from WiFi for the cell phone-addicted teens to Smores at night. The ducks were even friendly. Everything was exactly as described.
My family and I spent a relaxing week at this cabin on George's Pond. Everything was there for us to enjoy our time on the pond during the day and the a fire at night. The owner was very accessible and helpful with questions that we had. I would recommend this house for your next visit.
My Wife, Son and I stayed in the cottage mid to lake August 2015. We found everything very clean upon arrival and exactly as described and pictured. After settling in we went for a swim and then a canoe trip. Spent every day at Acadia for a new hike and would come home in the afternoon to swim and fish right before dark. The lake was great, the neighbors were nice and the owners of the cottage were only a phone call away. What more could you ask for? Lobster everyday and ice cream every night. We had a great stay on Georges Pond and can't wait to come back!
This cottage has everything one could possibly want. We took five members of an adult group home and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Fishing, kayaking, rowing the canoe, swimming, fires in the fire pit and of course s'mores. Those who chose not to get in the water were content sitting on the wonderful dock or the shady porch. It is very well kept with all the amenities one would want plus more. The beach is great with easy access for those with physical disabilities. This cottage worked out so well for our group that I rented it a second week for my family. We live close by but have greatly enjoyed the little get away during such a busy time of the year. Thank you so much for offering this lovely cottage for others to share. It's a great spot and only a short drive to Acadia National Park.
What a beautiful, relaxing place to visit. We enjoyed our week very much. We used the fire pit every evening and visited with the ducks everyday. We watched a loon and bald eagles with the binoculars that were provided. So peaceful and the kids used the kayaks for hours each day. Acadia was just a short drive away and the sights were stunning. Thanks for sharing your cottage!
This was the perfect place. My family and I had a wonderful time. The place was very quiet and the beach was perfect. Our dogs loved that you could just walk into the water. We had a fire every night and the kids enjoyed making smore's. The ducks came to visit us every morning. They are not afraid of the dogs at all. We had at least 3 duck families come to visit every day. We enjoyed watching the bald eagles. There was about 4 of them that would fly around every day. Tim the owner was great and extremely friendly. We are looking forward to coming back next year and many years to come.
