|Minimum Stay||5 - 7 nights|
The Waialua Honu Hale is located on a scenic sandy beach, on a quiet cul-de-sac. A five minute drive into Haleiwa lets you enjoy restaurants, shopping, and adventures; not to mention this quaint town is the surfing capitol of the world.
The home is finished with wood and slate flooring throughout, a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and stainless appliances.
Our Waialua home is located on the North Shore on the island of Oahu. This is the Hawaii you dream about, just 35 minutes from the Honolulu International Airport, 45 minutes from Pearl Harbor and 45 minutes to the beaches of Waikiki. The North Shore offers snorkeling, swimming, diving, fishing, windsurfing, kayaking and of course surfing. We recommend a trip to the Old Sugar Mill of Waialua and try the natural shave ice, Waimea Falls Botanical Garden, Polynesian Cultural Center, Sunset Beach or maybe a horseback ride in Pupukea.
We call this house the Honu (turtle) Hale (home) for when you walk along the beach in the early evening you often see many turtles within the coral and reefs eating their dinner.
This listing was the first I clicked on, and in an instant I fell in love. I was so excited that our dates in December were available for booking. It was a blessing to stay here, and I know my husband and two boys and I will return to this amazing beachfront home on the beautiful North Shore Oahu. My favorite room in the house is the living room. The water is literally right in front of you. The waves crashing is such a lovely, soothing sound. You can hear it all around you in the house. When you go outside, it is pure heaven. We were constantly relaxing on the chaise lounge and chairs outside enjoying the view.
All the rooms in the house are clean and well-appointed. The decor is subtle, styling is perfectly simple with that Hawaiian touch and not overdone. The kitchen is well-stocked with all you need. The bed linens are lovely and incredibly comfortable.
The location is perfectly close to the North Shore offerings. It's easy to get in and out of the neighborhood to go exploring. It's an easy drive to Waikiki too.
My family and I loved this house. We definitely recommend this vacation home. It's so nice to have ample room to spread out and the freedom to cook your own food instead of being forced to eat at restaurants all the time as hotels require. What we liked best is that the house is so spacious and relaxing. You can't beat the location and view.
Mahalo for the amazing opportunity. Aloha.
Great location on the water with an excellent family room and ocean facing yard where we spent most of our time when we were not exploring the beaches of Oahu. Plus you are not far from the famous North Shore beaches and waves. The four bedrooms worked well for our family - we had seven adults plus a six month old. Joey Ann and Joann were a delight to deal with, and always readily available when we had questions. We would definitely return!
You can't get much closer to the beach than this lovely home. We found ourselves drawn to the lawn furniture in the yard and sat for hours everyday mesmerized by the ocean view. We loved being able to cook our own meals if we wanted in the well stocked kitchen. It was nice to arrive and find an assortment of staples in the cupboard and a grocery store in close proximity. Great restaurant's nearby when we didn't want to cook. This was our first time renting a home instead of staying at a resort...the way to go!!! The process was easy, working with the home owner was delightful. The housekeeper who greeted us on arrival felt like a new friend upon our departure. There were 4 of us, except over the first weekend when my daughter's BF arrived. The house is spacious, decorated in beach theme, beautiful view from the front windows, outdoor showers, comfortable beds and pretty much looks just like the pictures you can view on the listing. We thought we really lucked out on the first time VRBO experience. We loved the North Shore and the beautiful beaches, cute little towns...we made one trip into the Honolulu hustle and bustle midweek, and couldn't wait to get back to our private sweet retreat. On average you will see maybe 5 and less than 10 beachcombers walk by all day! We absolutely enjoyed every minute of this vacation and this house. We shared rental info with several interested friends who kept up with us on Facebook during our trip...selfishly this means more people to share booking times with...lol!
Perfect location up on the North Shore. Easy and friendly owners and booking process. Living room is a little dated, but the view makes more than up for it. Lot of amenities. I hope we can come back on day.
We arrived at midnight on Saturday.
We couldn't see the ocean, but we could hear it!
Well, when we woke early Sunday, we just couldn't believe it. A few steps across the lawn and there was the beach and ocean. Jo Ann then arrived with breakfast pastries for us and our holiday began. She gave us loads of advice on the best places to go and pointed out a few things we had not discovered about the property.
There were 7 of us, two sets of parents, my teenage son and his best friend and my friends 8 year old daughter.
What an absolutely amazing place. The water was very rough on that first day so we enjoyed playing in the waves and then to the supermarket to stock up on food.
It was truly what I had imagined Hawaii to be, palm trees, white sand, turquoise waters and sea turtles!
Every day we swam with sea turtles and I cannot tell you how amazing and awe inspiring that was. There were tiny ones that the fishermen kept catching by accident and returning, there were medium sized and there was one truly huge 5ft long one. Even when I wasn't in the water I couldn't help just sitting in the garden and watching them.
The house was lovely, the view beautiful and had everything we needed. It had everything it said it would and there was plenty of space for the 7 of us. Not that we were in the house much! There were very few people around and it was so great that we only managed to tear ourselves away to visit Pearl Harbour and go into Haliewa a couple of times.
We went snorkelling and body boarding and just relaxed with the turtles. It was the best holiday we have had in a very long time.
I have no hesitation in recommending Honu Hale to anyone. It is the most amazing place I've ever been and definitely the most relaxing.
If you did want to explore the island it would make an ideal base and if, like us, you just wanted to chill it was perfect.
First let me explain that we have had no experience renting a vacation home. After thorough research and consideration of the VRBO ratings and feedback, we picked Waialua Honu Hale. The experience exceeded our expectations! The beachfront home provided us the peace, quiet and solitude we desired. JoAnn was in contact with us as soon as our plane landed, confirming our arrangements to meet at the house. After getting us settled she provided us her insight into local beaches, restaurants, "must sees", etc. We were able to use much of her advice. She steered us clear of tourist traps and helped us quickly acclimate to local living. The ocean view from the house is exactly like the VRBO pictures. Many afternoons after a busy day sight-seeing we would relax in the chaise lounges, reading our books and soaking in the incredible surroundings. Like many guests before us we enjoyed watching the turtles late in the afternoon. The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed to cook and serve our meals. We enjoyed having access to a grill. It was also nice to have the option to eat at the outdoor table. From the reviews we knew the house was not air conditioned, which seems typical for homes on the North Shore. The screened doors and windows along with the fans were more than sufficient for the air flow. We went to the local grocery twice. We also stopped at a Walmart on our way home from Pearl Harbor and were surprised to find the selection there not much different than at home. We appreciated having access to use the washer and dryer during our stay. Joey Ann checked in by phone a few times with us during the stay to make sure all was well. We could not have asked for a more enjoyable stay; we felt completely at home. Mahalo to Joey Ann and JoAnn!
