Frank's Place on Inverness Ridge is a charming Point Reyes rental home with panoramic bay views. With spacious living and sleeping areas, wifi and an outdoor hot tub, it's the perfect lodging for families on a Point Reyes adventure or couples seeking a secluded and romantic getaway.
The natural setting is spectacular, with lush surrounding forest giving way to open vistas and rough-and-tumble rhododendron gardens. Here on the ridge nights are dark and quiet, and mornings are beautiful whether drenched in clear light or sheathed in fog. Birds are abundant, including resident Pileated Woodpeckers and many others changing with the seasons. Ravens and hawks ride the winds out over the canyon. Scan the gardens or the meadow below and you may see deer, or even a fox or bobcat.
This classic Inverness style home was designed and built by local architect Jim Campe in 1986. The living room, bedrooms, decks and hot tub all face out over forested parkland to Tomales Bay and the hills beyond. In the main living area wood and tile floors and high, beamed ceilings create an expansive and elegant atmosphere, while clearstory windows capture the afternoon sun. Just down the hall, the carpeted master suite features a king-size bed and large private bathroom with two sinks, giant tub and walk-in shower.
Downstairs are two additional bedrooms with a shared second bathroom. A queen-size bed and TV in one of the bedrooms make it great for a second couple. The other is just right for kids, with two twin beds. A large inflatable mattress and porta-crib are also available if needed. Step out onto the downstairs porch to access the private hot tub.
An additional office room upstairs includes a sofa/daybed that can be made up for yet another sleeping option. WiFi from a cable Internet connection is available throughout, and there's a small computer in the office if you didn't bring your laptop. Cable TV is present upstairs and down, as well as a stereo system in the living room. CDs, games, puzzles, art and many books are here for your enjoyment.
If you're a veteran Point Reyes visitor you probably already have your own list of favorite hikes, beaches and activities--but we'll be happy to offer some suggestions! If you are new to the area you'll be amazed by the beauty and diversity of the Point Reyes National Seashore landscape, and charmed by the small but culturally rich towns of Inverness and Point Reyes Station. Fine dining at any of several great restaurants, delectable treats and coffee at the Bovine Bakery , and a wealth of local, organic and artisan food products are all just minutes away. Be sure to save some time for browsing the local shops and galleries.
Frank's Place is new to the Inverness and Point Reyes vacation rental market, but we are experienced rental owners with a property in Kona, Hawaii that we have been managing for many years. Our local innkeeper is just two doors down, and will ensure that everything is just right for your arrival.
The Norris family has a long association with Point Reyes dating back to the 1960s. Frank and Virginia built the house in 1986 and lived here for many years. Scott and Jennifer and the kids now live in Sacramento, and we still come out regularly. The house is beautiful--we've spruced it up and now it's ready for you to enjoy!
The Owner purchased this house in 1986
You'll love the peace and quiet! The property is beautifully situated in mature forest with plenty of sunlight and open vistas out across a forested canyon to the ridge line, Tomales Bay, and the hills beyond.
“Wow! What a great property. We thoroughly enjoyed the brilliant view, the comfy fireplace and the hot tub, too. I’m so glad my wife found this place to celebrate my birthday with two friends. We shall return!”
We have stayed at Frank's Place twice and loved it both times. In a quiet neighborhood in Inverness, the house has a large living room with cathedral ceilings, a warm fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, and a clean and inviting hot tub area. The house has been in great condition and very welcoming on both our visits. While we love the whole place, my nine year old especially loved the exercise room, my 82 year old mother especially loved the views, the bird-feeder, the fireplace, and the peacefulness of the living room. I went on long walks in the neighborhood, which is beautiful. All of us appreciated the great books on the book shelves and the cool assortment of excellent music to play. The three main bedrooms are situated such that none are right next to each other, so everyone has privacy. We found it easy to communicate with the owners. Everything felt loved and cared for in this house, so we felt that way, too. We will be back!
This was our second time at Frank's Place and it's our absolutely favorite place in Inverness. It's beautiful, comfortable and has everything your could possibly need. Thanks for providing such a fabulous home away from home.
We very much enjoyed spending time at Frank's place. Well appointed and comfortable. Loved the new hot tub.
We have been vacationing in Inverness for the past 10 years. For most of those years we have been blessed to have stayed at Frank's Place. Everything from reservation to departure is easy and sensible. The house is very well appointed, clean, comfortable, and in an excellent location. Our children love Frank's Place as well and spend hours playing. They especially appreciate that they have their "own room." Happy children, happy family all around. Thank you Norris family for sharing your wonderful home so we can enjoy this little slice of heaven.
A small group of us ladies stayed here for the weekend during early fall and it was phenomenal! The location was beautiful, we hiked, visited the lighthouse, went shopping in town, played games, used the hot tub, made dinner in the great kitchen. Overall we were very happy with our stay.
We have rented probably 15 different homes in the area. This is our second time at this lovely home located above the busyness of Point Reyes and Inverness but close enough that one can easily drive to either town and Point Reyes National Seashore is about 30 minutes. The house is spacious, well-appointed, well maintained. The hot tub was hot and stayed hot (not the case with a few other homes we've rented in the area). The multiple decks were a great place to hang out and catch some sun, read a book or have a cozy conversation. I would give this house 5 stars except the sheets on one of the beds were obviously not recently washed and I found a dirty sock underneath my bed from a previous renter (ewww) - call me a stickler for cleanliness. Other than that the owners are easy to communicate with, the instructions for the home were impeccable. Despite the dirty sock, we hope to return!
