wonderful winter vacation at the villa

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the villa for a long weekend in February. It was the best winter vacation our family has experienced. The Cobbossee house is amazing. It is not only luxurious but also quite warm and cozy. There are two wood stoves with an abundance of wood available and an outside firepit for making baked potatoes, hotdogs, and samores. There is also a fabulous sound system throughout the house with quite an assortment of C.D.s

We enjoyed nature and several winter sports including ice skating, snow shoeing, and ice fishing. It would also be a great place to cross country ski. Next time I will remember to bring my ski's. We also saw several types of birds. There were 6 large blue jays enjoying the bird feeder one morning. At dusk as we were sitting around the fire pit there was a wood pecker at the same feeder oblivious to how close we were. When we were out on the ice we saw eagles and hawks. The Maine winter sunset was truly captivating, As darkness approached there was a bright red glare over the ice and snow.

We really had a memorable time and hope to return next year.

A perfect place for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

The lake house is simply beautiful and the photos do not do justice. Every visitor we had marveled at the interior of the house and the surroundings. The lake is literally steps away and the kids love to run down the little path to the small beach. They also built a fairy house in the backyard and left a slug to guard it against bad guys until their return. My wife and I really enjoyed the peaceful nature of the property and we hardly left the property during our weeklong stay. It is a perfect getaway for family vacation and we are already talking about coming back next year. On top of everything the owner is very responsive to our inquiries and the manager maintained communication via text throughout our stay. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the natural beauty of Maine.

Wonderful summer rental

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Cobbossee Lake House for the week of July 4th and it was perfect for us. The house is as beautiful as you see in the pictures, it's nicely secluded with no nearby neighbors, it is situated right on the lake and has a great dock for swimming and sunbathing. We had two girls 11 and 12, and a 14 year old boy with us. They loved swimming there. The water is beautiful and clear. We got exercise by swimming across to one of the nearby islands; probably 1/4 mile there and back

The birdwatching is fabulous: golden eagle, osprey, loons, and many I couldn't identify. The loons are incredible; I didn't know they made so many different sounds. And the osprey has a nest on an island just a short distance from the cabin so you see him frequently.

There are plenty of largemouth and smallmouth bass, and some pike. Beautiful fish. I caught some nice ones and lost a 5-6 pounder. He was towing me around a bit in my kayak. I caught a nice one of several pounds just off the rocks near the dock.

We brought our own Kayaks and it was easy to get them to the water. We left them at the water the entire time.

We didn't use the pool table. It's in the basement, which also contains a bedroom, but it's very musty. We had plenty of room and fun upstairs. There's a great table in the living room for doing puzzles.

I would definitely rent this place again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, The house and the lake are dear to us, it makes us happy you enjoyed it as much as we do and explored all the possibilities e.g. by swimming to the nearby islands. The basement will definitely by better with the dehumidifier turned on, I will take care of that. You are welcome to return at any time! Cheers, Robert

A wonderful time at a beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a wonderful vacation at the villa on the lake for the second time this summer. The scenery is amazingly beautiful, if you love nature that is! It's a great place to be away from 'it all'.

The house is unique, has a very good atmosphere and offers plenty of comfort: from the kitchen to the bedrooms, and everything in between. One special thing for me and my wife was the view on the lake from the master bedroom and the bathtub. The property offers a small private beach and a long dock where we moored our boat. For me, I loved the fire pit where we had many a camp bbq and campfire at night.

We will definitely be back next summer, our reservation is in. Highly recommend this property!!

Outstanding property and experience.

  • 5 of 5

The home, property, beach and dock are truly outstanding. East lake location makes for great swimming and fishing. Small protected sand beach is ideal for small children and kids of all ages. Provides great boat dockage as well. Wonderful walking paths around the property. Home is open layout with three large bedrooms, ideal for families. Plan to return whenever health permits!

Small problems were solved quickly by the property manager. Would highly recommend the property to family and friends.
