We both grew up near Boston, and summered in Maine as kids... We bought this home so that our parents would have a place to escape the hot summer days of Boston. We now live in on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and since our parents have passed on, we want to share the beauty of coastal Maine and our home with others so that they too can experience the salt air and the warm summer breezes of the ocean and Muscongus Bay.

breathtaking views and excellent kayaking
house is fabulous - views are unsurpassed, kayaking is the best.. sit on the porch and listen to the loons - or listen and watch the seals play. Many lobster pounds and shopping within 30 minutes.. we love Back Cove Pound, the home is clean and big.. perfect for 2 couples who like privacy.. this will be our 3rd year and cannot say enough good things about maine, this property, and the owners.

The house and its outstanding views offer a perfect retreat from the complexities of everyday life. We rented the house with our sister and brother-in-law, and were pleasantly surprised by the privacy we had, because there are two separate "wings" each with bedrooms and other amenities. Early in the morning we watched an eagle looking for prey, and at night the sunset glistened on the water. The home itself has every amenity one would want; the hosts definitely anticipated a visitor's stay. It was difficult to say goodbye, but we are looking forward to returning next year.
Wonderful times with family. Water cold and lovely. We kayaked, swam, baked, read, played, picnicked, explored, and slept in some of the world's best sleeping conditions. A++.
Reading the reviews and seeing the property pictures gave us a pretty good idea that we were staying somewhere special. After 10 hours in the car, we were greeted by scenery that was way beyond what we had imagined. The view took our breath away! The home itself was so clean, cozy , and comfy with a well-stocked kitchen. The notes from the owners were very helpful and no detail left out. We really needed to stay an extra week to see more of that beautiful state. The house is in a convenient location for 1/2 or full day trips to explore all things "Maine." Morning coffee on the deck watching ducks, seals, and lobster boats was the best way to start each day. We took the kayaks and rowboat out daily and visited Hungry Island to collect mussels for dinner. Trips to Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid Lighthouse, Wiscasset, and Rockland were each under an hour's drive from the house. Morse's, Moody's Diner, and the Cabbage Island Clambake are highly recommended! Some of the best days were spent just enjoying the scenery and all the house had to offer. The local grocery store and bread maker are 15 minutes away. The home had lots of space to spread out and the neighborhood was exceptionally quiet--- just what we were looking for. We were sad to leave but are looking forward to a return trip in the near future!
This lovely home, which is very accurately described and photographed, is a peaceful and restorative place for a vacation. What a beautiful spot! Waking up in the morning to the amazing view and walking outside at night to look at the stars and full moon reflected on the water are just a couple of my favorite memories, not to mention the kayaking, the delicious lobster meals, the lovely day trips and the quiet family time. We never tired of the view because it changed constantly, and is visible from almost all spots in the house. The house is very comfortable for anyone staying in it, with a particularly lovely master bedroom suite. It is clean and well maintained and has all the necessary amenities, including all we needed for many delicious family meals. We relished every moment there, but also took trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor, Monhegan Island (which we fell in love with), Frienship for lobsters straight from the dock, New Harbor, Rockland (loved the Museum!), Camden, and kayaking trips that included a couple of seals and many different birds. The neighbors are very friendly and helpful. The property is secluded and quiet, which may not appeal to all, but was perfect for us, and there is grocery shopping just 8 miles away and plenty more to see within easy driving distance for those who prefer more activity. This was one of our happiest family vacations, and I hope to be lucky enough to return again.
The Segarra's home in Waldoboro is everything that a mid-coast Maine vacation should be: remote, quiet, relaxing, and all with gorgeous views. As beautiful as they are, the photos of this home don't even do it justice. The home offers sweeping views of a secluded cove with every amenity you could need to enjoy. Our multi-generational group all found things to love. My parents (in their 60's) loved reading and spending their time on the deck. My husband and I loved the proximity to more built-up areas like Boothbay and Rockland, and our two boys (4 and 1) simply loved spending their time in yard, playing on the rocky beach, and sailing the cove with grampy. And we all loved cooking meals together in the spacious and well-equipped kitchen - especially lobsters. All-in-all, a perfect week spent in an ideal setting. We will be back, if they will have us!!
Location: Maine USA Nearest Airport: Portland at 78 Miles Car: necessary From local airports: Portland or Bangor 1 1/2 hours driving time. Located 3 1/2 hours driving time from Boston. Waldoboro is a small lobstering community in Mid Coast Maine with a long history of ship building. The towns of Camden, Rockland, Friendship and Damariscotta are within 20 - 40 minutes.
Enjoy the Museums, galleries, boutiques and restaurants. Kayak out to the islands, collect mussels and periwinkles from the beach, dig for clams at low tide, or relax and read a novel out on the spacious deck. Row out to the islands and hike the hidden island trails. You'll wake to the sound of the local lobster men pulling their traps each morning, and fall asleep to the sound of the waves lapping the shore. You can buy fresh lobster from the local boats and steam them up in our deep lobster pot. At sunset, watch the sailboats head for their moorings from your private pier.
Other Activities: Sailing, hiking, birding, boating, kayaking, chartered deep sea fishing, shopping, antiquing, and marine wildlife viewing. Gourmet restaurants nearby. Swimming right off the pier or the granite ledges on our private beach, for the hardy among us (Wet suits are provided, please rinse them off with fresh water and dish-washing soap and hang them in garage after use, thank you)

The rental prices include extended cable TV, wireless Internet, and free telephone use within the continental USA. We provide all linens, towels, sheets, and bedding etc. for our guests. We believe that our guests want to be treated as part of the family, and in fact, many of our guests have return year after year, and have become regulars.
