You can enjoy the exhilaration of a day hiking to nearby waterfalls, horseback riding on forested trails or whitewater rafting in it's unspoiled mountain beauty. Looking for quiet romance or peace of mind? Try spending the day watching the sun glimmer across the aqua blue waters of Lake Blue Ridge or crystal clear Toccoa River. Or you can simply choose to take a nap in the fresh, clear mountain air lulled by the hypnotic sound of a nearby trout stream. If you're looking for a little excitement. Discover the joy of a whitewater rafting adventure or a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Spend a day exploring our mountain art and culture, past and present, in the many galleries across the region or browse for antiques in the shops that line the surrounding mountain towns.
We had been looking for mountain lake property for several years but when we saw our cabin we bought it that day. The drive down the dirt road getting to the property seemed to make the horrible traffic in Atlanta seem like a distant memory. When we went out on the lake that day we were the only boaters to be seen and the surrounding mountains were pristine and beautiful. Since most of the lake is in the Chattahoochee National Forest you will find that to be commonplace. Couple that with the quiet and friendly neighbors and the beautiful sunsets from the dock and you'll never want to leave!
We had a group of 8 that stayed at Baer's and we really enjoyed everything. There were few to no folks in the little cove while we were there which added to the privacy that we were looking for in our stay. We were unable to have a boat but we had a blast just floating around and relaxing in the ideal temp for the water. The only thing that we would have liked would to have had a few of the trees trimmed up so that the view of the lake would have been better. And something that no one had control over were the misquitos. They were horrible late in the afternoon and that prohibited our usage of the upper deck on the dock. Would recommed for a family get away.
My brother wanted a laid back spot for his bachelor party weekend and Baer's didn't disappoint. We had blast all weekend. The house had a great location on the lake, was clean, and made for a great weekend. We spent plenty of time of the "double decker" dock and even rented a boat for a day (which I definitely recommend). Anybody looking for a place for a large party to get together have a great weekend can't go wrong here.
We were a party of two families that stayed for the weekend. I must say we all were more than pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness, cleanliness and beauty of the cabin-the photos online just do not do it justice. Bill was gracious and helpful from the first time I contacted him to the completion of our stay. Also, one of the cleanest places we've stayed in-nothing looked overlooked or neglected, even the high use areas like the kitchen or bathrooms. It definitely made our stay more enjoyable. Beautiful cabin, beautiful area! Thanks again for your hospitality!
We stayed the week of Thanksgiving and had a great time. The house was perfect and stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals. The house has some great views of the lake and everything you need to relax. The owners are easy to contact and great people to work with! We got our security back the following week as promised. We hope to visit again soon!
We had a blast at this cabin. So many of my favorite things were there (trees, lake, hot tub, and of course my family). The little snow adventure starting it off just made it better. We were discussing our return trip before we even left :) The lake bed was a favorite of the kids, it was really cool seeing all the trees still "growing" from the ground that are usually underwater and would never have been "discovered" to put it in the words of two 7yr olds.
Everything we could have possibly needed was there, it felt like home.
Wow!!!! What a fantastic retreat. This was a great place for our family to relax and enjoy some down time. We loved the beauty of the cabin as well as the ammenities. It was awesome with plenty of space for us to enjoy. Oh my gosh I can't forget to comment on the screened in porch overlooking the lake... Incredible:-)
