Go back to the days of Romance with a little Retro flare in this unique, nostalgic Hideaway for 2. Select an era that you both fell in love and all those sweet memories will be remembered through songs, TV shows, newspapers & other memorabilia that will await your arrival in this private sanctuary behind America's First Nostalgic Guesthouse, The Good Ol' Days House, a Private Rental for those traveling with family & friends. Enjoy a quiet refuge from the hustle and bustle of this little hideaway yet minutes away from shopping, fine dining, & local conveniences such as drug stores, fast food, grocery stores and department stores.
Better location for a weekend getaway or longer stay than a crowded hotel room with a view of a parking lot. You and your guest can sit on a back patio and enjoy the backyard scenery and watch the many little rabbits scampering around the yard.
It used to be my Aunt Janie's beauty shop that she operated since the 1950s until her death in 2007. I converted it into a romantic little hideaway for two on the adjoining property of the home of my grandparents since 1949. Truly a one of a kind venue!!!
Loved this place during my work on the chimneys at the Clairton Mill. Felt like home and enjoyed the friendship and hospitality during my 2 month stay. Liked the "Last Supper" painting so much Melanie let me take it home to put in my camper at home. Thanks. I appreciated your kindness during my stay. Sure beats any hotel room!
I loved how clean and vibrant the little house is. the decor is just lovely!!! the bed I was worried about being to small for my husband but was just right. Melanie makes it so personable with flowers and baked good and a little message...something women love and she knows how to make an impression on that. she also gives a list on different things going on in the area or locations which was really helpful. AAAA ++++
Have been in some nice homes but this was one of the best. Nice and clean and even candy and baked goods for us when we got there. Melanie made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. We got a tour of her other home and it was really nice. If a trip down memory lane is what your looking for, this is sure enough the place to go. We drove around and ate at some really good places and just had a great time. Would for sure go there again.
Me and my new husband came here straight from our wedding to celebrate a short honeymoon. I had seen the pictures online but when we walked in, we were blown away by all the cute amazing details in the cottage. It was set up just for us with a welcome note and some local baked goods, it was a wonderful end to our wonderful day. It was nice and secluded, had lots of great records to play and movies to watch, so close to lots of cool small shops and great restraunts down town. It was super clean inside, the bathroom was gorgeous, loved the BIG shower. This place was beautiful, and we plan on coming back again in the future. I can't thank them enough for the wonderful stay! We loved it!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hideaway. For a start it was clean, comfortable, unique, convenient, and fun! We will definitely return and recommend it to our friends.
My wife and I stayed here for a weekend away and it was a great place to stay. It's the perfect size for two, and has a great location to restaurants, stores and shops in town. The only reason I wouldn't suggest staying here is so it's not booked next time my wife and I decide to take a weekend away!
If you're looking for a romantic getaway, this is the place to go.
My husband and I always spend a few romantic days away from the family after Christmas. Our stay at the Nostalgic Guesthouse was an amazing experience for us.
First, there is Melanie, the owner, who could not have been more informative and responsive. She called before our visit and answered all of my questions about the local area. I had a great feeling about our trip before we even left New York!
We went to the Back Porch for dinner as she'd recommended, and it was delicious. Good wine selection and, as she suggested, we got a table on the lower level, which was very atmospheric. The local supermarket she mentioned, Daritza's, was well stocked and a quick walk from the house. No need to get back in the car.
Melanie's establishment is truly a trip down memory lane! Not only is is chock full of nostalgia from our childhoods (and our parents and grandparents), the stuff is in great condition. Beyond that, though, the place is decorated beautifully. It's not hokey - it's gorgeous! And Melanie keeps a CLEAN place. It was immaculate, a quality that is very important to me.
The bed was high quality. Even the pillows were great! (I always bring my own, just in case, but Melanie's were really nice!)
She graciously gave us a tour of the main house (we stayed in the Hideaway), and it really should be a historic landmark. We had so much fun checking it out. Again, the decor was beautiful, really well done. Melanie, you have a great eye!
We used the cottage as a base for our annual pilgrimage to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. My husband and I are architecture buffs, and love to visit these amazing sites to be inspired. We had an especially beautiful visit because of the blanket of snow. Don't miss the sculpture park at Kentuck Knob. We also love to go to the Uniontown Mall for the great sales after Christmas (Burlington Coat Factory!), and to catch up on our movies. We also thrifted a bunch. There's a huge Goodwill at the mall. Bought two tennis rackets in great condition for $2 each. Fun!
Thank you, Melanie. We will definitely return!
