Beautiful spot on the river!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time and loved the beautiful location. The cabins are simple but well equipped and just what we needed. We spent our days by the stream, BBq'd in the evening and the hot tub was lovely under the stars.

Gorgeous location, serene getaway

  • 4 of 5

Fall colors were amazing. Elk Creek is an ideal spot for a family getaway. There will be no cell service, but WiFi provides internet connection. The one bedroom cabin we stayed in was basic, but comfortable.Ample towels and linen. Was nice to have a hot tub, and the swings were a wonderful surprise.. In warmer weather, the creek would have been great to wade in, but we just enjoyed listening to it. The owner provides easily understood information on the refrigerator and the entry system was quite convenient.

Biggest complaint is the exorbitant and increasing VRBO fees that I have seen over the past year. I've used VRBO for over 10 years with much satisfaction, but I am going to start looking for alternative vacation arrangements that can avoid these ghastly fees.(That increase with the total cost of your rental)

What about some discounts for longtime customers or rethinking these excessive fees, VRBO?

Like Heaven on Earth.

  • 5 of 5

We loved listening to the sounds of Elk creek running through our back yard while enjoying a cup of coffee in the mornings. We swung on the swings overlooking the creek. We caught 2 large trout and cooked them ....fresh as it gets. Our 2 dogs loved the accommodations as well. The house was very clean and cozy. The water is safe to use but it does have a strong sulfur smell. The bed was a little too hard for my preference. I still give this place 5 was amazing !

Cozy cabin

  • 4 of 5

We loved the cabin and stream. Had a very nice relaxing time there. And as others have said water does have a eggy smell, no screens on livingroom windows, which would be nice if they did. And it would be nice if the hot tub was under a roof for the rainy nights. The wifi works but not thast great. It is a rustic cabin house(houses) and that is what I wanted. Went there with my mom and I for 2nights and 3 days and then in two weeks went back with my husband, son and daughter in law. We loved it and will be back.

Memorable Week

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 7 nights and the weather was great. The main cabin is small but room for two. The wi-fi almost doesn't exist so don't plan on doing any work. Bring water to drink or cook with you won't want to use the the water there. We loved the cool air in the morning but the living room windows didn't have screens so we could only have them open a short time. The property is beautiful and the stream is fantastic, we spent a lot of time out side by it.

We rented this cabin for my husband's birthday with 4 of our friends for the weekend. We were looking for that "mountain cabin in the woods" experience. We truly had an amazing time! We rented both cabins, which provided more than enough space for the 6 of us. Inside the cabin was beautiful, it was exactly what I pictured a cabin in the mountains would look like, with a rustic charm. Yes the water had an "eggy" smell, but what would you expect, its well water up in the mountains. Didn't bother us a bit, especially because of the awesome scenery around us. We never did turn the TV on, because we were in a cabin in the mountains! WiFi was available, which was good to have, because cell service was UNAVAILABLE. Which was fine, we were still able to text the kids back home. Hot tub was amazing! Closest grocery store was about half an hour away, which wasn't too bad. Gave us a chance to buy some groceries, call the kids, and hit a few stores for browsing. There was a huge Thriftstore full of antiques that kept us busy for a bit. We will definitely come back again!
