We rented this cabin for my husband's birthday with 4 of our friends for the weekend. We were looking for that "mountain cabin in the woods" experience. We truly had an amazing time! We rented both cabins, which provided more than enough space for the 6 of us. Inside the cabin was beautiful, it was exactly what I pictured a cabin in the mountains would look like, with a rustic charm. Yes the water had an "eggy" smell, but what would you expect, its well water up in the mountains. Didn't bother us a bit, especially because of the awesome scenery around us. We never did turn the TV on, because we were in a cabin in the mountains! WiFi was available, which was good to have, because cell service was UNAVAILABLE. Which was fine, we were still able to text the kids back home. Hot tub was amazing! Closest grocery store was about half an hour away, which wasn't too bad. Gave us a chance to buy some groceries, call the kids, and hit a few stores for browsing. There was a huge Thriftstore full of antiques that kept us busy for a bit. We will definitely come back again!
My family and I absolutely loved this cabin. It was out of the way, but within an hour's drive of everywhere we wanted to visit. My 8 year old daughter loved the creek in the backyard, the swings, fire pit by the creek at night with dad and of course the hot tub! She even said she wanted "to live here forever". The few minor issues we encountered were quickly dealt with by Bill and Mike. I wish we could have stayed longer than a week. We will definitely be back. This place is a gem!!!!
FYI- I programmed the DirecTV remote so that the TV, and DVD/VCR combo works on it also. There was also a cute notebook stashed away in one of the drawers where others had documented about their stay :)
Beautiful setting near a quite stream and fantastic hot tub. Great porch and allot of space for our dogs to play. However, we were surprised that the cabin we rented had only one bedroom since we retrieved from an online search in that price range for three bedrooms. There was no internet service and the cable TV had only one movie channel. The DVD player was so old that it also incorporated a tape player; the remote didn't work. The hot tub was great even though the attached radio was broken and the flood light on the porch was broken; we needed a flashlight to use the hot tub at night. There was a sign on the washer dryer saying that the dryer was broken. We called the number for the maintenance person that was posted in the cabin. He was on vacation in Florida. We then tried to at least use the washer. It started to smoke. So with all of my cloths wet and a potential fire I tried to contact the owner. He lived in Florida; long distance calls were blocked from the cabin’s phone. Cell phones don’t work there, and there was no way to call via the internet to call as internet service wasn't included. We had to drive 17 miles to Boone to call him. Not enough room in the bedroom for our dogs to lie down next to the bed or for anything else. When we left I looked under the bed to see if anything had fallen there. The floor was so dusty and dirty that I almost got sick. The floors in general were minimally clean and the furniture sparse, outdated and uncomfortable. If the cabin was clean, had decent appliances (the kitchen was furnished with Goldstar), furniture, movies and internet, and there were no ants in the kitchen to deal with we might have enjoyed it
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the cabins. Our boys fished and practically stayed in the streams! It was also great for my elderly parents. Easy access to the creek where they sat by the fire and watched the kids fish. House was clean and yard was beautiful. I was afraid with all of the reviews I had read that the smell of the water would be unbearable, but it was not. We had no problems at all except we only could stay a week!
Great cabin and location. The stream is beautiful and a great place to fish and relax. We grilled, enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated the secluded area. The listing and pictures are a great representation of what you're getting. The maintenance man (Mike I believe his name was) was very prompt and helpful. I would absolutely recommend the cabins here-a nice palce to get away.
The cabin and the view from the back was wonderful. The tap water smelled very strong of sulfer "a must to take alot of bottled water". This made it very hard to take a relaxing shower when you need to hold your breath. This wonderful trip was shadowed by the heat in the summer months. We had to get the other cabin to sleep"this was provided to us at no extra charge by the owner!" The main cabin bed room should have a independant window unit to keep it cool. The wonderfully relaxing days concluded with a dip in the hot tub and a wood fire grilled meal on the deck. The sound of the flowing stream is a constant back drop to the majestic wood line. CONCLUSION............other than the showers and the heat in the summer, this was a great destination.................................................................................................... I am not sure what my origional date of arival was, sorry
Summer and holidays may require a longer stay.
