Loved, loved , loved the house. Suited our needs perfectly. We are from Europe and expected a more rustic accommodation. We were pleasantly surprised.
We recently returned from a week long vacation and I cannot say enough nice things about our experience. We had three families share the house (12 total) and it was perfect. Everyone had a bed and their own privacy. The guest house alone was big enough to be stand alone house anywhere else on the island. We spent the vast majority of our time on the huge deck and building fires at our own private beach when we weren't taking our rented boat across the pond to South Beach. I highly recommend you rent a skiff and kayaks if you want to get out on the water and have your own private beach experience along the Atlantic Ocean. We had several kids in our party so we spent most afternoons at the beach and then would return to the house and take the kayaks out at Sunset. We had plenty of geese floating on the water to keep us company. At night we would sit out on the deck before going to our private beach to sit by the fire and look at the stars above.
Edgartown is a short 5-10 minute drive away.
It was one of the greatest family vacations we have ever had. The homeowner was very responsive to our questions/needs both before we arrived and even while we were there.
A couple people in our party spent much of their childhood on the Vineyard in the summers and they thought the location of the house and the property itself was the best they had ever seen.
We had a family reunion at this lovely property on Edgartown Great Pond. It is a magical and serene setting. I sat on the dock each morning and watched the swans and geese and a playful group of otters. The pond is warm and perfect for swimming. We rented a motor boat and some of us went each day to the quiet Atlantic beach. Others easily biked into Edgartown (or up island) for restaurants and shopping. The house is spacious and comfortable with large deck areas. I especially appreciated the owner's beautiful taste--very interesting art and rugs. The kitchen had everything we could want for making family dinners. The adjacent guest house is simple and comfortable, and also tastefully appointed. The owner was very responsive and helpful when we had questions. We loved this property and would very much like to return next summer.
A perfect vacation haven of elegance, chic, tranquility, and relaxation. All amenities were perfectly appointed, maintained and impeccable. The open floor plan afforded us the feeling of space we sought, with light flowing in. The decks are great for entertaining and relaxing. It was so nice to have our own private dock providing privacy and practicality. The serenity of Great Pond is wonderful and yet we were so close to the old whaling village. The children enjoyed the big shaded lawn. In short it is an idyllic vacation home on a remarkable island ; all descriptions accurate, owners helpful and kind, 100% recommendation.

We really enjoyed staying at this house because it is the perfect blend of relaxed yet stylish, functional yet flowing, peaceful and serene yet near enough to the quaint old whaling village with all its shops and restaurants. The children loved the big lawn and swimming off the point in the lagoon. We rented a boat to go to the beach which was so private. It was really nice to have the air conditioning, especially for sleeping. All the beds, linens and towels looked new. There were plenty of glasses and dishes for when we had friends the family all together for a anniversary dinner. We'd definitely come back again.
We rented the house to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, so this was a big occasion. After much research, we were not disappointed. The houses are a perfect setting for a get together with family/friends. The layout gives plenty of space for people to spread out. The house is incredibly well-equipped for dinner parties, and even wine tastings. The living space is roomy, comfortable and stylish. The kitchen has more than you would ever need.
The location is fantastic for those who plan to spend more time hanging out and enjoying the pond and private beach. It is easy enough to get into Edgartown and around the island, but if you want to go out every night, you may prefer to be closer. But why would you with such a gorgeous home away from home.
The bedrooms in the main house are actually much nicer than they appear from the pictures. The bedrooms in the guest house are not quite as nice as they have not been as recently renovated, but are perfectly fine. The guest house living area is quite cute in a Scandinavian style. The 2 outdoor showers are a treat.
All in all, I would recommend this house to anyone. Tom, the owner, is an absolute gentleman and very much wants you to have a wonderful experience. You will have a wonderful stay.
We absolutely loved the open/airiness of the home, with so many options inside and outside for relaxing and spending time together. The decor is perfect - elegant yet comfortable. We loved the fire place on cool nights. All the conveniences are there. The kitchen
is fully stocked and very fun for cooking.
The location is also wonderful, quiet, peaceful, with gorgeous water views. A short bike ride or walk to the bike path into town, the location affords both quiet countryside living and convenience to all the fun activities in Edgartown. Be sure to ask the helpful and friendly owners where to find the best seafood, oysters, and chocolate on the island.
We look forward to being back this year.
