For nearly 100 years, I have sat at the water’s edge on Morro Bay. I am a romantic guest hideaway for lovers … lovers of nature, art, thought, books, wine, adventure, discovery, solitude and soul, but especially for those who love and love to nurture themselves.
There are no jangling phones, blaring TVs, traffic sounds or other intrusions. Instead, I offer you the rare opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, and quiet. You will hear the distance sound of waves crashing on the beach, and the shorebirds as they forage for food in front of my deck. I am your refuge and your retreat for exploring all that is around me, and all that is within you.
Every house has a story. I invite you to visit, and become part of mine.
As you approach the first time...you gaze upon my small green façade and begin to think of the potential that awaits now just out of sight. We both, you and I, stand on the edge of transformation … for we are about to begin a memorable experience with one another.
I have a tale to tell, my very own…won’t you come inside awhile and help me sing my song?
I may be just a small beach cottage, but step through my purple entry and you’ll be welcomed by an eclectic mixture of art and antiques collected by my family over three generations and lovingly displayed to create a romantic and intimate environment to inspire you during your stay.
I have seen and heard many things in my four score and 15 years. Like all places where people dwell, there is a spirit here that has been shaped by the personalities, conversations, and temperament of those who have spent time within my walls. I have been occupied by children, parents and grandparents.
My family has studied for tests and entrance exams here, and baked more pies than you can imagine. My visitors have included travelers, adventurers, famous authors and song writers, renown painters, one of America‘s most celebrated outdoor photographers, naturalists, newlyweds … and by my owners’ generations of artists and lovers of life. All of their presence lingers in the air, and invites you to both partake and contribute your own essence to my evolving character.

Nestled along the southern tidal estuary of Morro Bay, I sit on the smog-free coast of Central California. I'm just 20-minutes from San Luis Obispo through lush agricultural and cattle grazing countryside.
Get away from your fast-paced world. VISIT -- Take a deep breath of clean, clear ocean air. STAY -- Life is too short to rush through. PLAY -- like a local: frolic on the water, hike in the hills, sample some great wines and just sit quietly and watch nature unfold around you.

About Pandora Nash-Karner
The Cottage has been in our family for two generations. We have lived on the bay for almost four decades and love it, and love to share it with others. The Cottage was originally built to shelter the duck hunters and fishermen who were attracted here, but it was soon bought in the 1950's by our parents and was used as a residence while they built their dream home next door. The Cottage has been our family's guesthouse since then and we've recently made it available as a vacation rental. The charm as a family retreat has been retained through the complete refurbishing received in 2009. We have designed the Cottage to provide our guests with the perfect opportunity to immerse themselves in the Central Coast experience. We are not the Hyatt (on purpose!) -- just the opposite. We provide a unique EXPERIENCE to our guests. We want them to feel they are staying in their favorite aunt's beach cottage while she is away sailing through the South Seas, and she left them the keys to her special place and her prized possessions. What our guests won't find here are ringing phones, blaring TV or fax machines, or lists of rules permanently affixed to the walls -- all by design. We we do provide wireless internet service and a 38' HDTV for watching DVDs, plus over 400 DVDs to choose from. We want the cottage to provide guests with the ability to ESCAPE the fast-paced world. We've tried to provide everything we can think of to make our guests feel pampered and comfortable. And if ever they need anything, we are happy to make sure they have it within minutes. Come see why we have over 170 5-star reviews.

Why Pandora Nash-Karner chose Los Osos
The Green Cottage has been a private guest house for our family for over 6 decades. When it is not used by the family, it is available for visitors. Come see why so many people think it is so special.
What makes this Cottage unique
The bay is part of the National Estuary Program, as well as a designated bird sanctuary. There are many places nearby to view birds, including a private dock. Morro Bay is an important stopover on the Pacific Flyway and winter home to numerous bird species. The north coast area of San Luis Obispo County is a haven for artists, wine and food aficionados, water sports enthusiasts, antique collectors, hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and people who appreciate quiet, undiscovered get-away locations. When the lure of open spaces calls you, follow winding country roads to award-winning vineyards for wine tasting, or to grassy hilltops for a picnic overlooking the Pacific. Beautiful Hearst Castle is just 35-minutes away, and beyond that is the splendor of the Big Sur coastline. San Luis Obispo's initials -- SLO -- precisely describes the speed a visitor should use in examining the area's treasures and pleasures. Go to fast and you'll miss of the off-the beaten path venues hidden back in the hills and canyons like the Pozo Saloon, See Canyon apple farms, Tibor Canyon organic olive oil Ranch or the charming town of Harmony, with a population of 15.

Heaven on Earth!
We absolutely loved our time at the Green Cottage. This is a place for nature lovers. The setting is serene and we spent many hours out on the deck watching the great variety of birds plus seals, sailboats and kayakers. The cottage is spotlessly clean and filled with lovely artwork which makes it feel like a home rather than a rental. The bed is extremely comfortable, especially with the high quality linens provided. We love to cook and were very pleasantly surprised to find this the best equipped kitchen we've ever seen in a vacation rental. There are some kitchen gadgets I'll be getting for my own kitchen! For those that prefer not to cook, Los Osos has a very nice variety of restaurants within minutes of the cottage. And within less than an hour are dozens of excellent restaurants and some of the best wineries in the world in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles. Another pleasant surprise is the wealth of books provided on everything from local history to bird watching, hiking guides, exploring San Luis Obispo County, etc., etc. The owner, Pandora, is an exceptional host who loves to share this beautiful place with others and make it a memorable experience. She was always availalble to answer any questions or provide information on local happenings, tours, etc. This is one of the best experiences we've ever had and we can't wait to return!
Amazing peaceful bliss.....on the bay.
Once you step inside this delightful cottage on the bay, you are hooked.
The internet pictures are truly accurate, in that the layout of this cottage, both inside, and deck-side, are really unmatched...in terms of beauty, comfort, cleanliness, spectacular, peaceful bay views, and, more.
The cottage’s owner, Pandora, was charming, very helpful, and an overall human delight.
My husband and I were able to check out the Paso Robles wine country ( 45 minutes away), SLO, the coastal areas of Cayucos, Cambria, and more.
....and, then return to a fully equipped kitchen, in order to make a meal, if we wanted, share a glass of wine, on the breathtaking deck, or, just snooze.
All the conveniences, without the hype. A slow down, Nirvana, in a way.
I could not recommend this lovely place to stay, any more than I already have.
A true delight, in every way.
The Green Cottage on Morro Bay is the perfect place for a holiday. The weather is wonderful year round and the location is always the picture of tranquility. The cottage is spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. All the amenities are provided and readily available. All is provided as described, and then some. The bed felt like we were sleeping on a cushion of air, waking each morning refreshed and ready for another day away from the cares of this world.
There are so many options for exploring the natural world around the bay. We canoed over to the dunes, stopping every now and then to watch the seals, and then strolled along the ocean, seeing hardly another soul the entire time. We ran some of the many trails up the nearby peaks and the views were phenomenal. When we were tired, we retreated back to the cottage and indulged in a few of the scores of movie options available, taking breaks to watch the sea birds and colors of day fading.
Morro Bay is a lovely little sleepy seaside wonderland, with great coffee shops and restaurants to nourish the body. Just around the corner is the blossoming Paso Robles vineyard scene. Wild Horse is one of our favorites. Not to forget, for the beer lover, is the Firestone Walking Brewery with amazing beer and great food.
All in all, it is hard to imagine a better place for a vacation. The hosts are amazing and attentive. I would absolutely recommend the Green Cottage to anyone and everyone looking for a quiet get-away.
Thank you Glen for describing our area through your eyes. Yes, nature IS here. All you have to do is come visit and enjoy. And, of course, there are hundreds of artists, galleries, performing arts centers, Hearst Castle, trails, trails, trails, beaches with long sweeping vistas without people and over 300 wineries. We look forward to your next visit!
Everything we wanted and didn't know we needed
We were so pleased with the cottage from the location, the view, the amenities and the hosts. We were greeted with beautiful flower arrangements, coffee and fixings, yogurt and fruit. Our hosts Pandora and Gary were as interesting and creative as the professions that have chosen for them selves. We look forward to coming back!
Our Cottage seems to attract the perfect guests. There's just something about it, and the description (in first person from the point of view of the Cottage speaking for herself) and the location, that intrigues people who want a peaceful, quiet retreat. We don't have TV or cable. On purpose. We do have over 400 DVDs to choose from. The Cottage contains original artwork, panoramic photos by a nationally famous photographer, oil paintings, handmade baskets and ceramics, a host of antiques, and a king size handmade quilt. Why? Because we want our guests to feel they are "coming home." We have a view that is breathtaking, and shore birds right outside the Cottage's waterfront door, and the sounds of distant surf just across the dunes. We don't house a cast of thousands, but just two or three people who want quality time with themselves and with nature. We have our favorite return guests, and this guest will be among them. They were engaging, lively, fun, and treated the Cottage as if it was there own. We love that. So does the Cottage. Come see why so many people return every year.
This cottage is such a lovely find. Beautifully appointed and cozy, you can't beat the location on the shores of Morro Bay, and it's close to San Luis Obispo with lots of things to do nearby. Quiet and peaceful, its the ideal place to restore your soul and commune with nature. I'll be back!
The is one of our "champion guests!" She has visited for years and books a year in advance for 3-4 trips each year. It is so nice to know the Green Cottage provides the peace, quiet, privacy and calm that people are seeking. It says a lot about the Green Cottage, and even more about our guests.
A magical place for a gettaway
I have to confess this is not my first stay at the little green cottage, but every time I visit it still feels magical. It is hard to imagine a more charming and cozy place to stay!!
Thank you James. As you know we do everything possible to make the little Green Cottage magical, starting from being spotless! Then we have added antiques, handmade quilts, art, flowers, fresh fruit and oh — the view...it is spectacular! It's fun to have our return guests exclaim, "hey, that painting is new...", because it means they love the Cottage as much as we do.
