What makes this House unique
This vacation rental is great any time of year. Not only are the summers incredible with the swimming and water sports but the fall, winter and spring are beautiful with their colours and unique weather patterns. Curling up by the wood stove in the winter, drinking hot cocoa and watching a DVD, is as inviting as lying in the hammock on the beach in the heat of the summer. The home is very private and quiet. Paddle boarding in the morning with the Loons calling can't be beat!

Lovely family time all together
Great eckletic home! Lots of character. Lots of room and privacy for the whole family. There were 13 of us and we had beds left over! Very clean. Beautiful view of the lake. Water and sand toys in abundance. There was no kayak nor canoe as advertised but two new paddle boards that even the 5 and up kids enjoyed. Biggest problem was the trip up and down to the beach. VERY tough. Loose gravel and dirt made it quite treacherous. Definitely needs to be improved. Only because of that, we will not be booking here again. Hosts were quick to respond to any queries we had. Up for sale now (summer 2017) so new hosts for the next year.
Thank you for your comments - I think that goat trail going down has been a challenge for the last 40 years😉 We are considering putting in an outdoor stair case if we can find a suitable route & grade that is a measurable improvement😊
Great to hear the family had a fun time!

Great spot, nice cabin feel!
Would go back tomorrow
Three families enjoyed the lake house from August 6-13. The house is large, home like with beautiful views all around. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The only true challenge is the incline and distance from house to lake. Although the trail is well maintained it's quite steep which doesn't make it ideal for anyone with mobility challenges, young children or older folks.
See you soon next time Erin.
June 2016-Run down and dirty
My friends rented this place and we visited for a BBQ. This rental looks like a rental, it's a house with many different add ons. It was dirty (prior to them being there), and it is in desperate need of reno's, old kitchen, no dishwasher, rooms broken up and a weird layout. The BBQ was so dirty and built up of grime, the burgers were burnt, and the propane tank was empty and so old, the gas station wouldn't fill it. IF you are fit enough to head down the long steep terrain to the lake, be CAREFUL! Loose rocks, and very uneven, do not attempt to go on the wharf as it is falling apart. Fans in each room as they advertised are small dirty desk fans! The best 2 things are the deck and the view and the calories you burn coming back up the hill to the house! Oh, and the last day, don't relax, because they have a few pages of things you have to do before leaving, for ex. cleaning the toilets among other things!
Sorry you are not as satisfied as most renters over the last 7 years (note the 24 successive 5 star reviews). Yes, it has a unique layout (that is the charm of it), yes the kitchen requires a reno and has no dishwasher, a full propane tank was supplied on the shelf beside the BBQ, yes the beach trail is steep and we agree we could use a new dock. Thank you for noting the fans – we will clean them. As for the toilet, thank you for cleaning them, but that was not part of the 2 page guidelines.
Oasis on Sproat Lake
My family and friends recently spent a weekend at this wonderful home for a reunion. The home exceeded all expectations I had for it! It had an excess of bedrooms, bathrooms, and beautiful views. There was an incredible amount of board games that kept our nights busy, and a wide selection of all sorts of kitchen gadgets that one wouldn't necessarily to remember to bring on a trip. The home was outstanding and we had an absolutely incredible time down by the lake!
The only downside I would mention would just be the very steep walk down to the lake. It can be hard for anyone with bad knees, and the walk back up is a bit of a work out, but good to burn off all the hot dogs and s'mores!
Thanks for the extra cleaning you did Jessica.
We spent a week at the Lake House in August with our extended family, Our Kids and their kids (our Grandchildren). Fantastic holiday. Spacious and sprawling house with lots of rooms and an open living, dining, kitchen area for family to congregate. Fabulous Waterfront with boat docks, swim platforms, diving board, kayak, canoe, water toys, etc. Super warm Sproat Lake. Beautiful views.
Only negative: its a bit of an uphill hike back up to the house from the waterfront.
See you next time Don!
