The private beach access includes 90' of pebbled waterfront, a large swimming area, wharfs and a boat house. The lake house is a 2500 square foot home of unique craftsmanship. There is lots of room to socialize including a 400' deck with spectacular views of the lake and Mt. Arrowsmith. Affectionately coined "Ruttan's Roost" by our late father, architect and designer, the lake house is a unique design which is bound to impress (i.e., no where else can you find a tree for stairs)!

The Ruttan's Lake House property has been in the family for decades. The home is a unique custom built home that has been added to and improved over the years. It has warmth and character and will make you feel completely at home.
This vacation rental is great any time of year. Not only are the summers incredible with the swimming and water sports but the fall, winter and spring are beautiful with their colours and unique weather patterns. Curling up by the wood stove in the winter, drinking hot cocoa and watching a DVD, is as inviting as lying in the hammock on the beach in the heat of the summer. The home is very private and quiet. Canoe rides in the morning with the Loons calling can't be beat!
My friends rented this place and we visited for a BBQ. This rental looks like a rental, it's a house with many different add ons. It was dirty (prior to them being there), and it is in desperate need of reno's, old kitchen, no dishwasher, rooms broken up and a weird layout. The BBQ was so dirty and built up of grime, the burgers were burnt, and the propane tank was empty and so old, the gas station wouldn't fill it. IF you are fit enough to head down the long steep terrain to the lake, be CAREFUL! Loose rocks, and very uneven, do not attempt to go on the wharf as it is falling apart. Fans in each room as they advertised are small dirty desk fans! The best 2 things are the deck and the view and the calories you burn coming back up the hill to the house! Oh, and the last day, don't relax, because they have a few pages of things you have to do before leaving, for ex. cleaning the toilets among other things!
My family and friends recently spent a weekend at this wonderful home for a reunion. The home exceeded all expectations I had for it! It had an excess of bedrooms, bathrooms, and beautiful views. There was an incredible amount of board games that kept our nights busy, and a wide selection of all sorts of kitchen gadgets that one wouldn't necessarily to remember to bring on a trip. The home was outstanding and we had an absolutely incredible time down by the lake!
The only downside I would mention would just be the very steep walk down to the lake. It can be hard for anyone with bad knees, and the walk back up is a bit of a work out, but good to burn off all the hot dogs and s'mores!
We spent a week at the Lake House in August with our extended family, Our Kids and their kids (our Grandchildren). Fantastic holiday. Spacious and sprawling house with lots of rooms and an open living, dining, kitchen area for family to congregate. Fabulous Waterfront with boat docks, swim platforms, diving board, kayak, canoe, water toys, etc. Super warm Sproat Lake. Beautiful views.
Only negative: its a bit of an uphill hike back up to the house from the waterfront.
We spent five days at the end of June in the lake house and we loved everything about our stay. The house is very interesting; we loved how spacious it is and how much love and work was put into all the details. We found in it everything we needed for a comfortable stay and more! Kids loved playing and swimming in the lake and we enjoyed kayaking and canoeing. After water time we were busy trying different board games and doing puzzles. We also enjoyed hiking on the trails in the area and our trip to Tofino was an unforgettable experience!
6 couples stayed at the lake house for 3 nights in June.
It exceeded expectations in every way!
The home was clean, the layout made it easy to accommodate everyone for sleeping and the views of the lake and forests were incredible from the deck.
The home was also very well stocked. Cooking was easy with every kitchen utensil and appliance you could ask for.
The walk up and down to the lake was a bit steep, so a 4x4 would be a good thing for anyone with disabilities or health issues... But the trek is well worth it. We were there for the 2nd weekend in June and even still, the water was beautiful for swimming and floating around on inflateables.
There is a boat rental place about 10 minutes away where you could rent speed boats with tubes, water skis and wakeboards. It was well worth it, and gave us an amazing chance to see the whole beautiful lake.
All in all I would definitely recommend, and everyone is hoping this home is available next year for our annual trip!
We had a wonderful family reunion at the Lakehouse. We have a large family and the rooms and space at the Lakehouse was perfect for us. We had 8 kids ages 10 or under in our party and it fit all age groups. The water was so warm and the shady beach inviting in the hot sun.
We also did a day trip to Tofino which was an hour's drive away and a wonderful adventure.
