About Bill Blackerby

We love to travel. Our son is a studio engineer and our daughter works for the Rockerfeller Foundation so we hope to have more time at the Autumn View. We fell in love with it the first time we saw the view. One of the best we have ever seen.

Bill Blackerby purchased this house in 2010

Why Bill Blackerby chose Fairview

The home is right in the middle of so much Ashville and the Biltmore, spectacular Lake Lure, Black Mountain for antiqueing and music and historic Hendersonville yet it is so private and removed. AND THE VIEWS ARE TREMENDOUS.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy coming to our mountain home to rest and unwind from the hustle and bustle of day to day activities. We enjoy cooking out and sitting around a nice fire. The hot tub is very relaxing! With WIFI,HDTV and a Samsung Audio system for the rest of the time. SA full home theater to keep the family entertained with movies on a 100' screen

We loved our stay here! The house is beautiful with a gorgeous view, very homey and welcoming. Bill and Lea were easy to communicate with, the kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked, things were clearly labeled, and the layout was perfect for our two families. The kids LOVED the home theater/entertainment room, there were also board games for our use, and the hot tub and firepit were great for all of us to enjoy. The upstairs gas stove/fireplace was an added bonus when it was super cold or after we got out of the jacuzzi; it warmed us up quickly when needed. It's also nice that there are ceiling fans in all of the rooms. Thanks so much, Bill and Lea ... we couldn't have been happier!

A Must Stay Cabin, Only 45 Minutes from Downtown Asheville

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Autumn View Mountain home in Hendersonville, NC. A few friends and I wanted a long weekend away and we couldn't have been happier with the accommodation. There was plenty of room for all to sleep and the views from the back porch made the whole trip worth it. It really gives the "mountain cabin feel" that you're looking for when traveling to the mountains.

We had planned to spend a day in downtown Asheville but we were unable to request an Uber/Lyft when leaving the cabin that morning. It is a bit of a trip down the mountain if you're interested in visiting downtown Asheville--about 45 minutes (not as far but trips down the mountainy roads certainly add time). I easily Googled Asheville cab companies and was able to set-up two drivers. This was not a problem at all and for a good price.

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend staying here at Bill and Lea's cabin. They were very accommodating and quick to respond. The hot tub was fantastic and it was certainly enough room for a group of people to enjoy. Thank you again for a wonderful stay, we certainly hope to be back soon!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a fabulous property! The place is immaculate and there is more than enough space to relax--either by enjoying the views from both decks, reading, watching movies or cable TV, or soaking in the hot tub. The location is convenient to both Asheville and Hendersonville for shopping and dining. One day there was a terrible rainstorm, but it ended up being one of the best days of the vacation because the house itself had so much to offer.

At the house, there was information for the surrounding area as well as books, videos and games to use during our stay. The owners contacted us directly and offered suggestions for the area, which was greatly appreciated.

The house itself is very nicely decorated with nice furniture and very comfortable mattresses.

We highly recommend this property and look forward to our next stay!

Perfect mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this house for our long weekend in the mountains. The layout was perfect for our family - my husband and I slept upstairs in the master bedroom and our daughters each had their own rooms downstairs.

We started our weekend with a zipline trip to The Gorge in Saluda, NC and then we stopped by the grocery story in Hendersonville. Arrived at the house around 7pm so it was already dark. We enjoyed cooking burgers on the grill and a dip in the hot tub with a full moon in the background. The next day we went white water rafting on the French Broad River. Came back to the house to watch our favorite college team play football on tv (thanks for having a DVR because the game was really at noon!) and to grill steaks . Dessert was s'mores in the fire pit. Yummy! Our final day was spent in Flat Rock seeing a musical at Flat Rock Playhouse. It was raining by that point in our weekend but we were still able to enjoy the hot tub once again (so wonderful that it is covered!). Chili in the crockpot for dinner that night!

Overall we enjoyed our time there so much. The owners were accommodating and the house had everything that we needed.

House was well appointed to make our family vacation very relaxing. 30-40 minutes from Biltmore and under 30 from Chimney Rock. Definitely recommend and will definitely look to stay again when we visit the area again.
