Cynthia and I came to hawaii year after year, when We decided to buy our own little piece of paradise. All the decorating was done by Cynthia, from the choosing of furniture,to the pictures and all the small details. You too will feel at home here, just like We do.
Jerry Formulak purchased this condo in 2001
We choose the North Shore of Oahu, because of the quietness and away from the tourist crowd. The sleepy town of Waialua is like old Hawaii. We were awed by the inspiring view of the ocean when We entered the Condo for the first time.We knew immediatly that this was the place We wanted.
Morning walks on the uncrowded beach or on the nearby Bike path.Watching sunsets from the virtual lanai or sitting on the beach with a glass of wine as the sun dips into the ocean.
Jerry, my Wife and I wanted to thank you for the use of your beautiful condo in Hawaii. I trust that We left everything in acceptable order. We had a wonderful time. The Condo was great, and the view was a wonderful thing to wake up to each Morning. We made use of the cooler, beach chairs and umbrella. It is a great benefit having them on hand for gursts to use. You and your Wife have done a great job, decorating and providing very useful items that make the stay there effortless.
I cannot say enough how wonderful our time there was.
We thank you very much.
We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful view, with everything a family with two small children could ask for. Sleepng with the ocean breeze and sound of the waves was amazing. Full kitchen, which is great with small kids, much easier than packing up just to go eat. Beautiful beach and pool just an elevator ride down. There is shopping and many other beaches only minutes away. Having a washers and dryer was great, we actually came home with suitcases full of clean clothes. Plenty of towels and beach toys for the kids to use. We have already recommended this property to three other friends. Had a wonderful time and look forward to come back in the future!
Loved the condo. Condo has been 100% updated. Everything the owner stated about the condo was accurate. Great views! We would definitely recommend this condo and we would definitely stay here again!
Our family of four(2 adults/2 teens) rented this unit for 9 days/8 nights July 2016. First impression as we entered the unit and turned the corner to the oceanfront window: WOW! The view is stunning, unobstructed, right on the beach and located oceanfront in a peacefully quiet, mixed residential, rural type neighborhood. There was no retail(that we found) in walking distance but is a short 5-10 minute drive to shops/dining in Haleiwa or Waialua. The unit had everything we needed to be a "home away from home" for the week - it was tastefully furnished, very clean, well equipped, it provided everything we needed for a wonderful beach vacation from towels, to laundry detergent to beach chairs & snorkel gear. We were greeted with some local treats which we very much enjoyed and the kitchen was well-equipped with appliances, serving and cookware plus included use of basic seasonings, tea bags, condiments, etc. Deborah, the property manager, was very friendly, provided advice & quickly responded to all our needs during our stay. We did not use the building's pool or BBQ grill, however, they appear to be well-maintained and we did enjoy sitting on the patio or laying on the lawn, watching the stars at nighttime (except when others were there smoking cigarettes). The unit was comfortable for our family, though I would question whether it would accompany 6 guests. And even though we rented knowing that only fans were available and with explanation of the trade winds (many units in this area rely on only ceiling fans for cooling) we had some issues with absence of air conditioning. During our stay there was some atypical weather associated with a tropical storm, that produced increased humidity and heavy rains. When we were unable to open the doors for breeze because of rain, we learned one of the ceiling fans above the front room bed operates only on low speed and numerous tower fans did little to help the steam room feeling. A dorm-type portable air conditioner would be an asset to this unit, for those circumstances. Otherwise, we enjoyed the evening breezes, starlit nights, relaxed lifestyle... everything was great; it exceeded our expectations and we would recommend it to others. We made some wonderful memories, and enjoyed a peaceful, quiet and relaxing vacation. We hope to be fortunate enough to return some day!
The condo was beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay! The beds were comfortable and the five of us enjoyed our stay. A couple things I didn't like was the overall somewhat run- down condition of the entire building and area. The pool area and spa were aging and not particularly well cared for. However my daughter, son- in- law and granddaughter enjoyed the beach since the were usually the only ones down there. All in all it was a good home base for doing the things we planned on the island. The North Shore definitely has less traffic and less people so more conducive to relaxation.
This vacation has to be the best of my life. Our stay at Sunset Shores was one of the primary reasons I can say that. I loved that as we looked out the windows, all that can be seen is ocean. I even liked that there was no a/c. If there had have been, I never would have experienced how the trade winds can supply such cool, relaxing air. The condo was decorated beatifully and had everything we needed to enjoy the beach, grill, and pool. We enjoyed nearby Haleiwa and visiting the Waimea Valley. The only things I would have liked to have known prior to arriving or would add to make it even more comfortable: instructions for using the TV and DVD player and a full list of all the items in the kitchen including number of place settings. Other than that, there is little that could be improved upon. Deborah was very helpful and willing to help us any time we needed it. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
This was our first trip to Hawaii, and could not have asked for a better place. We roamed over most of the north coast and saw no better place. Peaceful, and only feet from the ocean. Ocean on one side mountains on the other. The place was very comfortable, the cool breezes the sound of the surf all night, Turtles in the ocean only feet away, great sunsets and stars at night. The north shore is not as happening as Honolulu, not a lot of clubs and such, it is much more quiet and rural. Plenty of decent restaurants in the villages. good surfing, snorkeling near by.
the place looks like it was 100% renovated not too long ago. everything is stylish, clean, bright, and looks new.
I would recommend the place to any family. It sleeps up to 6 if the kids like each other... I would say it is a one family place or great place for a couple. Completely equipped, beach stuff. washer/dryer, dishwasher, all the amenities. all you will need.
Although we heard a lot about bad traffic, it did not seem too bad for us. the island is not that big, anything can be reached without too much trouble. Just avoid rush hours, and you can reach Honolulu in 30-40 mins.
The property manager was very nice, and helped us with all our questions.
We will definitely stay again if we make it to Hawaii again.
Other Activities: nearby dillingham field offers glider planes, skydiving, open cockpit plane rides. Kitesurfing, Kayaking and Catamaran tours.

Recommend max of 4 adults. The sofa opens up to a queen size mattress.ideally for six it should be 4 adults and 2 children. Or 2 adults and 4 children. That being said I have had 6 adults stay with no complaints. Just remember with 6 adults there is no privacy
