Bali without the long flight and time change.

  • 5 of 5

"What an amazing way to wake up, a gentle breeze off the ocean and then opening your eyes to the vista of Puerto Vallarta right from the bed.

The location is great. While you are a short walk from the beach you are really far above it, away from the chaos of restaurants and beach life, so much better to over look it than to be immersed in it.

The Condo is fresh and new with contemporary furnishings for a great architectural feel. We were told not to worry about closing up the place but just leave the window doors wide open. It is safe and when I asked after the mosquitoes I was told PV has very few and the constant breeze coming up from the ocean blows them away and keeps the condo cool. I had my doubts but the concierge was right. Our stuff was safe and not a bite or even buzzing to ruin the open-air life. Now this is camping the way it should be.

The two good-sized bedrooms both had bathrooms with open air showers, very reminiscent of Bali but without the jet lag. Very clean and spa like.

The living room is magical since there is only a clear glass balcony wall between you and the view. The sofa appeared to be able to convert to an extra bed but we didn't need it.

There are three paths that lead to down the hillside to the beach. The most difficult one is the closest and bet used in daylight, the second could be easily done at night but for the squeamish you can take the longer street way. All three of these paths bring you right to the beach and restaurants.

One of our favorite eateries was a very short walk on the beach called la Palapa, they have a great menu and great service, and something you don't often see in a beach front restaurant."

The condo was quite nice looking

  • 2 of 5

The bad part was the view is blocked by the building in front of us and people constantly looked in at us (photos do not show building).. When we first arrived, there was no hot water, no internet, no cable tv, no iPod dock (as advertised ) it took us 9 days of complaining befor we got internet. Her idea of cable tv was a Roku stick that was in Spanish (with no account info)so we could not us it. The condo is right next to a major highway and is very noisy when the patio doors are open. The condo across from us is owned by an elderly man & friends who never wear cloths and has his blinds up even at night. We contacted the manager and he was better at closing his blind ( for a short while).

The condo comes with a 2 cup coffee maker, the owner would not get us a full sized so we had to buy our own. The cloth dryer seems to dry with heat when it feels like it. There were a few othe small things but all in all, the condo is way over priced.

Owner's Response: So sorry, that I was unable to get the internet up and running before you arrived. Apparently everyone is recontracting their internet service in Dec., so the companies are over loaded.even though I thought I was doing it with plenty of time, I was wrong, now I know that I will have to reconnect the internet in Nov, to have it up and running by January. Also you seem to have been there the one time that they forgot to refill the gas tank on time. Since it something the building has to do, I did not know about it until after it was all over. I am sorry you didn't understand how to use the roku stick. I had asked the manager to set it up for you, and they told me it was up and running. Unfortunately when I tried to contact you to find out if everything was working properly, I never got an answer from you. If you had let me know I would have made sure the roku was set up. As for the neighbors, unfortunately we can not control them, but as you mentioned they were a little better after you had the manager talk to them. We could have talked to them again, if you had let us know. If you had let me know about the dryer problem, I would have had it fixed while you were there. As an owner I try to fix things sooner ráther than later, but if I do not know about the problem, I can' t fix it. It will cost me the same to fix it sooner than later and tenants are happier. I wish you had let me know about these details so I could have improved what was within my power to fix. I am in the process of fixing the dryer, which is something that is still on warranty, since we recently bought it. In Mexico eveything takes a little longer to get done and this is part of the good and the bad of Mexico. Mexicans have a different concept of time. Slowing down is one of the things I love about Mexico, and sometimes I also get frustrated by it.

View is now of CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION 30 feet away

  • 1 of 5

The owner advertised this property as providing "Privacy & Comfort". I had none. As the workers (from 8am-7pm - 6 days/week) were so close you could hand them a beer if you were so inclined they watched me day and night. They watched the front door when I came and went as well. If you open the bathroom window at the front of the building they can see right inside. The other bathroom can be seen into from the highway. There is construction one building away from the side of the condo as well - big steel girders being pounded into wet concrete I felt like I was in a fishbowl in the middle of a construction zone. The main highway runs behind/beside the building. That could be why the owner put up a new curtain. There is a Corona Deposito right on the highway where young men pull up their trucks in the evening and play very loud rap etc... Even the weekly maid exclaimed "hay demasiado ruido!" translation- "There is too much noise." One afternoon I returned to find a worker in the condo doing some painting. I had not been given notice of this. Since I sent a photo of the 'new front window view' to HomeAway the owner refuses to discuss this with me at this time.

I have let HomeAway know this condo is being misrepresented. At least the property manager apologised to me as he noticed the workers were still there one night at 7pm.

There is something wrong with the water pressure so the toilets don't flush unless you hold the plunger down for the whole flush and the showers are very weak. They don't get hot but do get warm after 5 minutes or so. I didn't use the dishwasher or oven so I can't comment there. The 30 minute cycle works on the clothes washer. Due to the noise and lack of privacy this was a stressful time away. I travel to Mexico twice yearly and otherwise love Mexico!

Owner's Response: I feel I should also mention that even though while this person was in the condo she wrote how much she was enjoying her stay. As soon as she returned home she started her complaints and ended by saying I had to give her a full refund or she would write a bad review. Also she claimed Homeaway told her she was owed a full refund, yet Homeaway told me it is their policy to not offer an opinion. That we should work it out. I asked this peson to give me a few days to contact my manager and get more info on what was going on. So now she says I am ignoring her and put her complaint in. I feel like she is just trying to get a free vacation. The building is in front of the building but it is not as high up as my condo it is one floor further down. As far as I can tell the workers are not really looking directly into her window as they are below, and I think they are usually working. But I am trying to get more pictures to tell exactly. Hopefully this week I will get all the information. If neccessary I will put up a curtain to block the view.

Just Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I thought this Condo was just perfect! First of all, it looked like it came out of Architectural Digest. The decor was so beautiful, modern and functional. The size was ideal, not too big, not too small and we were four. There was a view of the ocean and the location was very convenient. It was just a few blocks to shops and restaurants and a couple more blocks to the beach. It is in a quaint and typical Mexican part of Puerto Vallarta with cobblestone streets. Just perfect!

Lovely condo

  • 4 of 5

I was Michele's guest for a week in her lovely condo. The views were spectacular, the amenities first class and the bedding and furniture were very comfortable. It is well situated close - to the older part of Puerto Vallarta with good shopping and restaurants. You are just a few blocks from the beaches as well. Very easy to get anywhere from here. I would recommend it if you are looking for a nice clean place that is well situated and well priced.

Puerto Vallarta is known as Mexico's most quaint beach town, and French's La Cañada Romantica is in the oldest (quaintest) part of PV. You are walking distance to the boardwalk and the Los Muertos pier, as well as the old down town area. Of course, you are also in the most happening area that has the most restaurants and bars such as the Andale, or Blue Chairs, and where Latin Fever happens every year. If you are into Volleyball on the beach, or having Margaritas, it is all only 3 min. away.

Other Activities: art galleries, shopping, dancing, beach volleyball
