This property is located about 7 miles east of the city of Hisawassee...the property complex is five acres...with large trout swimming pond...Hall Creek runs through this private property with private road and no trespassers are allowed on the complex....wrap around dirt road circles the house which provides multiple entry and exit outlets...has large children's play set (ie. sliding board, fort unit...lookout station)...the property is remotely located with very excellent view of the surround mountains...miles of walking trails....there are no commercial properties in this well established community...only farmland and get away cabins...complex has engineer nearby for any emergencies with house facilities or other issues....wi-fi access throughout the house...TVs and DISH network in each room....magnificent stone fireplace in large family room....access roads are mostly paved except final entry into the property...gravel road for approximately 500 yards...overwhelming view of area.

Notes:
Smoking is not allowed inside the house at all... smokers have large walk around access to porches and rocking chairs outside the house... the kitchen sink area has a very hot water dispenser for tea and hot chocolate... while no traditional swimming pool... the estate has a very large creek fed fishing and swimming pond... crystal clear water from Hall Creek running through the property.

Peaceful and Relaxing Vacation....

Thank you Jim & Dana for sharing your mountain retreat with us! We had a very fun-filled and relaxing week. The grounds are beautiful and the house was large enough for us all to spread out. We travel to the Georgia mountains every year and always try out a new place. Hopefully my feedback will help fellow travelers as well as the owners......

Pros:

1. Pond out front is great - kids enjoyed fishing and adults sat by the campfire. Creek is really nice - can be seen from front porch rocking chairs and was safe for kids to play in.

2. Great place for kids and large dogs.

3. 3 Bedrooms - one on each floor which was great for privacy. We had 2 families so it was perfect for us. They were also dark, so we all slept really well!

Cons:

1. House is 3 stories - it was fine for us, but be prepared to climb multiple flights of stairs all day long. It is 2 stories from the kitchen down to the grassy area outside.

2. Playset outside is being repaired so is not in a safe condition to be played on.

3. House is desperately in need of routine maintenance: the dryer vent was completely clogged and we had to vacuum the whole line out to get it to work. The filter for the main water line going into the house looks like it has never been changed - it was covered with mold and completely black. Appliances need to be serviced - dryer knobs are broken, ice maker in the refrigerator doesn't work well, etc. Jim, I will send you a list of the smaller items.

4. House is in need of a deep cleaning - closets, drawers, kitchen cabinets. Although the house is stocked with many handy items, we found many were broken, missing parts or unusable and were digging through drawers trying to find pieces. Someone else's dirty laundry was in the laundry room...

5. House has beds for only 9 people. Not all 9 beds have linens and some are missing mattress pads. There is a crib mattress, but it has no sheets. There are also not enough pillows and blankets...I would suggest bringing all your own bedding.

6. Because of the items above, we feel the rental rates are too high.... we were charged extra per person over 8 people, (we had 10) but there were no beds for them?

7. The owner accepts only payments by check through the mail... so there is no protection for the renter. Not sure who was saving on the Home Away fees, but we didn't feel it was us...

Thanks again for having us... we enjoyed our time and wish you much success in the future with your Hiawassee retreat!

Owner's Response: 3 stars punitive see complete response on website Sharon, firstly. I truly appreciate your feedback on our shortcomings and disappointments. It will be acted on right away. Your list provides me and our cleaning staff with a challenge, but all our these issues will be quickly addressed. I have copied our cleaning staff and talked with Chris Kennell our overseer; we've already taken your feedback and assigned staff to completely correct all of your issues Cons: The 3 stories are noted in the description of the Retreat. We offer handicapped ramps and this should be the noted factor when guests are concerned about dealing with 3 floors. .We repeatedly encourage our quest to discuss any of these concerns and many other issues via phone or email, or text; weeks prior to arrival, and we'd address each concern ... . most guests confer with us on any issues that concerns them before arrival. We state on every form of contact with us, "please call us with any questions or concerning your stay." (This done from the beginning of the reservation process). The walk down to the playground is evident from the photos provided and we repeatedly encourage guests to discuss any issues that may concern them prior to arrival. If this issue was an impediment it should have been noted early on. The playground was under repair due to a retarded 15 year old boy destroying the flooring of the playhouse; we began working on this the day they checked out. These things happen in life for anyone. So sorry for your disappointment. We spent over $ 5000.00 repairing this destroyed property; not charging our guest for the retarded child's actions even though he was unattended. An example of the cost to maintain a high end property. Insurance wouldn't cover these damages. On maintenance issues needing addressing; have already been put into motion. I would appreciate your complete list of these items noted. All the issues regarding bedding also is underway and will be corrected However, see the factors below on accommodatingabove 7 guests. On the extra guest charges, again, we note the limitations to 7-8 persons; we asked for our guests going above that number to coordinate with us. The additional guest generate demands on air conditioning or heating, cleaning up after the additional guest leaves, liability insurance, etc. Most guests discuss the bedding limitations that impacted your party. Quite, Peaceful, and Well Maintained

We appreciate Mr. and Mrs. McGraw allowing my wife and I to visit their little get away home. The grounds were well kept with various abundant plant life. The area was secluded and peaceful. The creek provided a comforting sound. Fire-flies at night coupled with a fire pit allowed for star gazing. Our German Shepherd enjoyed the seclusion and space to run and play. A quite, secluded, classy, and well cared for spot to get away and recharge is what we were looking for and found. In short, we look forward to returning! Thank-you.

Amazing mountain retreat

Our family had a wonderful vacation at the retreat. The property is amazing and so much to explore, just perfect for our kids 3, 5 and 7. They loved fishing in the pond, walking the creek and smores by the campfire at night. It was so peaceful in the rocking chairs on the back porch, listening to the creek and taking in the fresh mountain air. Just endless hours of entertainment and no need to even leave the property. We did venture off to the public beach at Lake Chatuge which had a great sand beach for the kids. We also went to Brasstown Bald Mountain and Ruby Falls, which were both worth checking out. The owner and property manager were both so helpful with any questions we had. We hope to return in the future and highly recommend!!!

More then you can imagine!

Our stay was perfect! The cabin was beautiful with an amazing view! Our children were entertained the entire week with fishing, playing on swing set, exploring, and playing ping pong on the rainy days. It was truly relaxing and everything we hoped for! We also had some close day trips to water falls, Brasstown Bald, and horseback riding. It is not a vacation we will soon forget and can't wait to return! Thanks Jim and Dana for sharing your slice of Heaven!:)
