We've traveled the sands and the suns around the globe. Waikaloa Village has VIEWS of the Kohala Coast and Maui Island. Our condo is close to some of the best BEACHES and Marlin FISHING in the world, and overlooks a GOLF fairway from the scenic LANAI! With cool gentle breezes, Waikoloa Village is our favorite place to visit year around.
Dave Brown purchased this condo in 2003
We knew when we first saw the Big Island this was the location for us. Affordable Airfare, No Bugs, Inexpensive Golfing, Great Ocean views, Close to the Best Beaches in the World!
This property has gorgeous views-Mauna Loa with snow on it's top, the Kohala Mountain range, the Pacific Ocean and sometimes Maui's Haleakala, plus, a beautiful golf course.
The condo itself was just a B+, but not necessarily the owners fault. There is constant dust and volcanic particles that make their way into every unit there. We had to clean 5 times out of 6 weeks just to keep the floors, table tops, granite counters, bathroom and sinks clean. This may just go with the territory.
The loft upstairs is very nice, with a step in shower. There is a large plate glass window, but below it are opening windows that let in nice cool air during the morning and evening to cool down the condo very quickly. Caution, the handrail to upstairs only goes 2/3 of the way up and if you are over about 5'8", there is a low support beam you will hit your head on.
The lower bath was nice, but it needs some attention. The window screen is broken and we did our best to help alleviate some of the screen tear. The shower wall is losing paint near the top. There is always an ever present drip you can hear thru the wall of the bath into the master bedroom. This room is very nice and I would give this room and the loft bedroom both 5 *.
One area of concern is the washer/dryer. It is a tiny unit and may be a health danger. When the units were built, dryer vents were apparently forgotten. So, people vent the dryer into a bucket with water in it. Caution; dryer gases go into the condo unless the front door is open and a fan pushes these gases out!
Would we go back? NO, but only for the following health reason. We are both old enough that we can no longer do stairs and their are 14 or so steps up to the condo.
Would we go back? Yes!!! The condo just needs more routine maintenance to keep up with normal household problems. The housekeeper stopped by a couple of times, but only brought us some cleaning supplies so we could clean. I will let that stop there. Overall, the owner was very nice and very helpful before and while we were there. The view is, quite honestly, the best we have ever seen on the Big Island, Hawai';I. It is worth it to go for the beauty, and if you enjoy beautiful scenery.
I strongly suggest you learn about the Big Island before going. There are four primary and 10 sub ecosystems on the island, including the Kileaua calderon which is very active. Take time to smell the flowers. Enjoy paradise!
Nice location, but unit is dated. Loft is difficult to use as the stairs are steep and narrow and the ceiling low. Really nice views from the deck, parking is easy, close to the golf course and pool, but if u want the beach you will need to drive. Nice extras, such as golf clubs and boggy boards.
Neat, clean, ample space and equipment. Stayed only 3 nights but could have been comfortable for a longer stay. Close to everything in Kohala. A great jumping off place.
If you're looking for the ideal location with all the amenities...stop looking because you found it. Our stay was so peaceful and relaxing. Been here many times but never stayed at Waikoloa Village just a short ways up the hill where the temperatures always just right. Pool, tennis, and golf are right out the door and the best beaches on the Big Island are a short drive. Will be coming back for sure.
My mom and I came for one week from Indianapolis. We had such an incredible time. The condo was perfect, the view was spectacular, the lanai was fabulous, the condo was well stocked with every thing we could have possibly needed. The condo was clean and well maintained. We will definitely return again.
My family of six and I stayed here for a week in June 2016. We had a great experience. We flew into Kona and stopped at Costco in Kona right after landing at the Kona airport. We loaded up with groceries and made our journey to the condo about 35 minutes away. We love saving money and the full kitchen and Costco helped us do that! The condo was very clean and had a vacation feel to it with all of it's beach type décor. We loved the fact that we had a washer/dryer in the unit as we were able to pack less clothing to take on vacation as well as we returned home with clean clothes! The two full baths were great as it made getting ready for our daily outings less time consuming. Since we had 7 staying at the condo we were happy there was a sleeper sofa in the main living area. Family members that used it said the mattress on the sleeper sofa was surprisingly comfy. We found the location to be very convenient to a gas station, grocery store and convenience store, all of which we used often, not to mention the many beaches in the area. The only thing we would add to the condo would be one or two more large fans, as the condo is not air-conditioned. We would definitely consider staying here again.
Across the street from Tennis Court, Swimming Pool, Golf Course & Club House Restaurant. 10-20 Minutes to some of the Worlds Best Beaches & Blue Hawaii Helicopter tours. 1 hour from Kona shopping. 2 hours to Volcano Ntl. Park
