This lovely cabin in a private setting is spacious yet has a warm rustic feeling. Built in the 1940s, it has a stone fireplace, maple hardwood floors, pine walls, a cathedral ceiling in the living room with a cozy sleeping loft on the mezzanine, plus two bedrooms on the main level with queen beds. There is a separate dining room that seats 6 and a breakfast room off of the kitchen. The wraparound porch has chairs and a large round table for dining or just sipping coffee. It is surrounded by a very large open lawn with mature trees and looks out at a riding stables. You can sit on the large wraparound porch or walk over to the stables and take a trail ride or riding lesson in the large indoor arena. Pony rides are also available for children. The beach is a short walk, or drive for 1 minute, park in our private spot, and walk around the corner to the beach.

The decor has been thoughtfully created by a Chicago designer and builder to be unique yet comfortable.

This home has a new 95% efficiency furnace and central air, newer appliances and is very well maintained. Pets are welcome. Email for details.

The surroundings : This home sits on a large lot and is surrounded by trees. You can see the riding stables across from the private drive. Guests can take trail rides, children can have pony rides, or just visit and bring them carrots. They are very people friendly. The beach is a short walk from the cabin, and we provide private pkg around the corner from the stairs to the water if you choose to drive for the two minutes it takes to get there.

Restaurants and shopping: There is a very nice grocery store down highway 12, which takes all of 10 minutes to get to by car. If you drive another 5 minutes, you will arrive at Light House Mall, a very large discount mall with national retailers. You can also shop and dine in New Buffalo, Michigan, which is 10 minutes in the other direction on highway 12. There are boutiques and Chicago quality restaurants in town and further up along 12, or you can head into the quaint restored town of Three Oaks to see theater, art galleries, shop, or dine.

Snowy get away.

  • 4 of 5

It was a super cute cabin in the snow close to everything but far enough away. We only had one wrinkle with firewood and not having it there like was expected. Since it was a snowy get away that was kinda important. Ended up just getting some ourselves so we could have a few fires. but it was a lovely stay other than that.

Cozy Cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our two night stay very much. It was a prefect getaway and location surrounded by a wooded area not to mention the horses and deer. Our favorite detail of the cabin was the fireplace. We took a 15 minute walk down to Lake Michigan beach through a residential area. We also took part in some night life with the two different casino's in the area.

Lovely rustic cabin but needs a little attention.

  • 3 of 5

If you’re looking for a rustic, quiet getaway, this cabin would serve your purpose. A blend of modern and rustic items are decorating this cabin and the wood burning fireplace adds just the right touch, and there was plenty of dry wood for use on the porch! The cabin is in a “woodsy” type setting, with the horse stables and other houses close by, so not having ANY curtains in this home (other than the two bedrooms) as a bit disturbing. Little things to make your stay more comfortable are found all around the house, stocked kitchenware with pots and pans, cozy throw blankets, small humidifier, a fan, etc. I did not find either of the loveseats comfortable, which is your main seating area. It was hard to fit two of us comfortably on there at a time, so we spent most of our time sitting separately (we are both very avg in size). There is a peaceful “breakfast nook” area that I sat each morning drinking my tea, reading and watching the horses, and I wished the weather would have been warmer so I could have enjoyed the gorgeous wrap around porch.

While I understand that the home is in a “country” type setting and can certainly understand a little dust, I found myself sweeping cobwebs off the walls and corners of the bedrooms before feeling comfortable enough to lay down. I was a bit upset about this as the cleaning fee is $75, and I wondered why I was cleaning the first few minutes of my arrival. I have also NEVER been requested to “wash the towels and floor rugs and have them drying for the cleaning crew” in any of my other rental experiences. Stripping the bed linens, having used bathroom or kitchen towels in a laundry basket to denote being used and cleaning up your own dishes are expected, however, I was sweeping, wiping down and dusting and doing laundry on my vacation! Not to mention the numerous times of doing dishes, drying them and putting away, only to do it again next time as there is no dishwasher. I understand that places do not always have the modern convinces we grow comfortable with daily, however I would prefer to relax more and clean less when renting a space for vacation.

We found the Cozy Cabin to be very cozy, close to Lake Michigan and Harbor Country

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Cozy Cabin. The kitchen is well stocked with a better than average selection of pans and utensils. The rainy days were made more enjoyable by the comfy couches and wood burning stove in the living room. The cabin is close to Lake Michigan and many craft brewers.
