20 feet from the water, this cozy, quiet waterfront getaway on Mobile Bay in Fairhope, Alabama is a perfect place for writing, painting, or just hanging around on the wharf catching Blue Crabs. The town of Fairhope is a quaint bay-front village that began in the 19th century as an artists colony, and it still retains much of this feel, couched in a Deep-South warmth.
The center of town has many quaint shops that add to this charm and evoke a feeling of stepping back in time. The house itself invites you to sit and rock, watch the pelicans, herons, and gulls fly overhead, and boil some of those crabs you catch on the pier.
For those who can tear themselves away from the boiling of seafood and the clink of ice in the glass, the Gulf of Mexico is but a short drive away. Have a good time, and remember: This is the home of 'Forrest Gump', 'Cheeseburgers in Paradise' (found at Pirate's Cove), 'Margaritaville', and in nearby Mobile, the original Mardi Gras!
GREAT WAYS TO ENJOY THE HOUSE
Brush your teeth on the deck by the light of the full moon;
Sleep out on the pier at least once if you can;
Turn off the ac/heat and open all of the windows when there is a breeze so that you can hear the sound of the water washing up on the rocks;
Count the number of pelicans that pass over the house in the afternoon;
Don’t miss a sunset;
Read more; watch TV less;
Serve drinks or dinner on the pier;
Look for porpoises chasing shrimp up and down the bay. When they are active you can see them 100-200 ft. off the end of the long piers;
Meet the neighbors; they are very nice;
Use the deck shower as often as you can;
Act out one of Shakespeare’s plays (there is a full set on the bookshelf);
As the kitchen is well equipped, learn how to make Creole Seafood Gumbo or West Indies Salad with the crabs that you catch (e-mail me for a recipe if you like).

Fairhope is a diamond in the rough! An artists' colony that doubles as a retirement community; a fun town that can be quiet; a village that is both civilized and laid back is hard to find indeed!
It is not only the proximity of our house to the beautiful body of water that is Mobile Bay that drew us to it, but also the pace and gentile nature of the town of Fairhope itself that makes this a genuinely special place in this country.
This is the closest house on the Eastern Shore to the water; only twenty feet! This makes the panoramic views fantastic, and your neighbors houses are built so far back that you don't even know they are there. Water views from every room are a great perk, and bay breezes through the windows are a treat! In addition, we own the lot next door, and our lots are among the deepest on this part of the bay, so there is a lot of room for children to play or to let your dogs run around.
Have we mentioned that we have the most well-equipped kitchen you will ever find in a vacation house?
Just read the reviews to see what we mean!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at a Nouste. The house is clean and well-equipped. Sabin is a great communicator, which made the reservation process very easy. We took advantage of all the house had to offer: crabbing, fishing, cooking, playing games, and sitting on the back deck as often as possible. I would highly recommend a stay at this property. We hope to visit again soon. Thanks, Sabin!
If you are looking for a charming, private, well equipped, cottage with incredible sunsets than you have stumbled on the right property listing! Whether you like to fish, (we caught LOTS of redfish and trout each morning) crabbing, cooking, (they thought of everything in kitchen) or relaxing on the huge wrap around deck, (or pier!) this place is sure to please. We can't tell you anything about nearby restaurants seeing as though we ate fish and crab all week (and made our own margaritas.) Winn Dixie is a/b 8 miles, as well as ABC store, Captain Morgan's bait and tackle, and a large produce stand. Great place for pets and small children, baby gate installed at the top of the stairs to keep either critter safe. Owner was very accommodating and personable! I highly recommend "A Nouste!"
Property was extremely clean. View from the second you walk out of the bedroom every morning, fabulous. Watching the sun set over Mobile Bay, breathtaking. Owner, very helpful and polite. Communication with owner very timely. Since the home is set closer to the bay than the surrounding homes, the side deck and rear covered porch are very private. Loved watching the pelican flyovers, and their diving for fish, all day every day. Caught some crabs and fish, right off the private pier. Would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.
I can't say enough about this experience--both the house itself and interacting with the owner. The house was super clean, comfortable and has a very well-stocked kitchen. I practically lived on that front porch being entertained by the herons, pelicans and gulls. You won't find a more perfect spot to view the sunset.
I have rented through vrbo.com many times, but have never had a more pleasant experience than I did with Sabin. He is very attentive and concerned about the happiness and comfort of his guests. He has thought of everything, and shares thorough information about the home, local restaurants, things to do, etc.
If you enjoy wine, don't miss Red or White. The short drive to Magnolia Springs is worth it to eat at Jesse's Restaurant. I also had delicious meals at R's Bistro & Pastry, and Tamara's downtown.
You can't go wrong renting A Nouste!
We had a fun, relaxing time at A'Nouste in Fairhope, AL. The cabin is right on the water with a small fishing dock. There's crab traps available for your use; we caught enough crabs during our 4 night stay to make delicious crabcakes. The cabin itself is very neat and kept up well; the kitchen is fully stocked with cookware. Fairhope is a quaint community with a downtown section that's good for walking and exploring. Being able to bring our two Border Collies was also a good reason for us to stay here. This was our second time staying here, we recommend A'Nouste!
Great place to enjoy the friendly community of Fairhope. First Friday Event in town was a must see. Easy access to Mobile, Pensacola as well as Fairhope. Owners were very attentive to details. We were able to enjoy sunsets and crabbing all in one day! Cranes, Egrets, Pelicans and Dophins were all seen from the lovely deck or dock. The second bathroom is outside the main living space as the owner described. Robert Trent Jones golf within 20 minutes.
