Self contained- two T.V.s , 2 bikes, King sized bed with memory foam topper, stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, washer and dryer. Only about 170 yards to the beach. Enjoy world class golf, tennis,fishing, crabbing, biking, beach activities, sightseeing (Charleston, S.C. only about 20-25 mi. away), excellent dining in area,and more. No Pool or Tennis Access. About Fred Herring

My wife and I first visited Kiawah in mid to late 80s. We purchased our condo in 1994(?) and have enjoyed many vacations there over the years. My wife now has a medical condition and can no longer get up the steps to the front door of the condo. Therefore, we have our unit on the real estate market. We miss it but realize that we need to look for another location with level access. We will probably never find another location as special as our beloved condo at Kiawah.

Why Fred Herring chose Kiawah Island

I offer my property at a lower rate than most other rentals on Kiawah. The main reason that I do this is because my property has not been extensively updated as some of the other properties have. I currently have it for sale and I would like to leave the decision of future updates to the potential buyer. Our condo is in a great location and we do try to keep it clean and well supplied.

What makes this condo unique

Cost efficient rental at a luxury resort. Great central location with close proximity to the beach and Night Heron Park. Two bikes provided for use during your stay.

  • Very comfortable king sized bed with a 3in., 5.3 lb memory foam topper. Sofa bed is queen sized but not overly comfortable for extended stays. Children don't seem to mind.

Perfect place for us!

This is the perfect place to stay on Kiawah! Great location! The bikes give you access to the entire island without getting in your car. It is an easy 3.5 mile bike ride to Freshfields and we loved eating by the Heron Park pool. It is located on the second row behind ocean front condos, so it is super easy to get to the beach. The bed is comfy. The condo is timeless in style with a wonderful screened porch. We loved having our morning coffee there and playing cards back there at night. The Calphalon cookware was very nice and we had all we needed in the kitchen for the two of us. I highly recommend this place!

Steps away from the Beach

My daughter and I spent the week of 4/8 - 4/15 in Mr. Herring's unit. He is very upfront that his condo is in need of a bit of re-modeling. However, we had a terrific time. There were some housekeeping issues but Mr. Herring was made aware of them so he can better direct the housekeeping crew. While the condo isn't "high-end", it more than meets the needs of 2-3 people wanting the Kiawah experience. We had a wonderful time and had everything we needed. Mr. Herring is just a phone call or text away should you need anything. We would stay there again and hope to do so. The "K" family...Baltimore, MD

Excellent Location. Excellent Rate. Excellent Owner.

This was our second year staying at this property. Mr. Herring (the owner) has always been excellent to work with. It's obvious that he truly wants his visitors to enjoy the full experience that Kiawah has to offer. He responded to any question or inquiry that we had immediately. The only problem we ever had was that the key wouldn't open the lock on the door last year. We called Mr. Herring about the situation, and we were in the condo in less than 30 minutes with a new doorknob and new keys. The condo is perfect for a small family or honeymooners. And the property is pet friendly! We were very excited to be able to bring our small Sheltie with us to Kiawah. I highly recommend this condo! I have spent every summer vacation at Kiawah since I was born. My parents were original property owners of one of the homes on Eugenia. They purchased the property in 1959 for $1,000. There have been many, many changes to the Island over the years! So, Kiawah holds a special place in my heart. Since our Eugenia house was sold in 1993, we have stayed in many properties all over the island. This stay at 4282 Mariners Watch was definitely our favorite. Keep in mind that Mr. Herring is in the process of trying to sell this property. The property is a tad bit dated; BUT, he doesn't want to invest in a massive cosmetic upgrade in case the new owners may prefer a different style. I'll be honest, we didn't notice that the place needed updating; but, we have seen reviews that have commented about "needing to be upgraded". The property is very comfortable, and has all amenities needed. The mattress has been replaced since our stay last year and is VERY comfortable. The beach is a short 170 yards away. A path leads directly from the condo straight to the most beautiful 10 mile stretch of beach you can imagine. Bikes are included with this property. One of our favorite activities were riding the bike paths all over the Island. The location of this property is only a short drive to Bohicket Marina, Seabrook Island, and Freshfields Village where Harris Teeter is located along with many tourist shops and restaurants. Our favorite place to eat is La Tela Pizzeria. I know, pizza instead of seafood?? Excellent food for the nights when you feel that you want to try something different and unique. We stayed for 7 nights and the rate was incredible for Kiawah Island. I encourage other visitors to the island to stay at this property. Thank you, Mr. Herring, for 2 great summer vacations!!

1st Vacation as a family of 3=Best Vacation Ever

I have to say this was our first time booking VRBO online. We were a little hesitant, but decided to try for our first vacation since our honeymoon 5 years ago and our first with our 2 year old. Needless to say, I am so glad that we did. Kiawah Island was the PERFECT sport for our family of 3. The condo was clean and was just as described in the listing. Mr. Herring was very helpful with any questions we had prior to our stay. We enjoyed eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the outdoor screened-in porch area. We even got to see a deer enjoying breakfast right at our porch. The distance to the ocean was great for us. We were able to pull our son in his wagon to the ocean each morning with all of his toys and beach tent. It was easy to pack up and come inside for nap time and then go back out again in the afternoon. The bikes included were probably one of the best parts. We took all of the bike paths to enjoy all Kiawah's beauty. We visited all of the wildlife/marsh observation towers and enjoyed biking in the evening. I would recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a great place on a great budget. We will most definitely book again in the future.
