Eclectic West Asheville is the location for this new green-built, 2,500 square foot home on a quiet cul-de sac. Campbell Folk Art Center or the Blue Ridge Parkway!

West Asheville is an up and coming area with restaurants offering innovative cuisine with locally grown veggies, & meats. Music venues abound! It's a wonderful base for children or extended family and friend get-togethers. Even Fido is welcome to join the fun. I'm not sure you can find a more dog friendly property that is exceptionally clean! Dog run, dog door, bowls, beds and treats - all for our 4 legged guests.

New, top drawer construction and every detail has been taken care of in this thoughtfully built and outfitted home. We supply: paper goods, linens, towels, a fully stocked kitchen, condiments and spices … just bring your food and drinks!

The 1st floor master suite offers a top-end, eco-friendly pillow top king mattress with a luxurious bath suite with jetted soaking tub, walk-in stone tile oversized shower, granite countertops and beautiful walnut floors.

The remaining two bedrooms on the main floor are also outfitted with top-end mattress sets. The second guest bathroom also sports a stone tile shower/tub, with granite countertops and hickory cabinets.

Warm earthtones in the family room highlight the beautiful walnut floors and hickory cabinets in the adjoining kitchen, while an inviting ambiance of a cozy fireplace is available with the ease of gas and the electronic ignition. The well-outfitted kitchen will satisfy even the most finicky cook!

The outdoor deck offers wonderful al fresco dining overlooking a very private, wooded backyard. For more formal dining, there is a dining room which has enough room to set up an additional dining table for extra guests.

Wait – there’s More! The two-car garage not only provides shelter for your vehicles, but has extra room for bikes and kayaks. This area connects to the downstairs Family room with a large TV and a large, soft sofa and plenty of floor space for using a queen size air mattress for extra guests. A full bathroom with top line furnishings is also on the walk out basement floor. A high speed wireless Internet and color printer can also be found in the Family Room. Finally, a dog door and large dog run is available to keep you and your dog happy! We also have a large dog crate available for our guests use. We have not found a more dog friendly in town vacation rental property in Asheville - and we strive to be exceptionally clean for our guests who don't travel with pets or with allergies.

DVD and VCR players in living room on the 1st floor and family room in the basement. Large TVs with cable are located on both floors along with a wide variety of DVDs/videos. We have a "stereo" with a dock for your ipod for terrific sound quality for your musical entertainment.

About Teri Phipps

We purchased the home in Asheville in 2009 with plans of retirement to Asheville in 2014. We have loved coming to Asheville for music and fiber arts and outdoor pursuits over the years and wanted to make it our permanent home. After a few years of living in our current home of Richmond, VA, we realized our roots were too deep to uproot and relocate to Asheville.

We let a few of our special renters know we were going to be selling the property and one of our repeat renters, Mike Figielski, made us an offer. It could not be a more perfect arrangement. I can continue to do what I love - managing a vacation rental! Mike and his wife Ann, are planning to retire in the future and make Asheville their home, but in the meantime, I continue to manage the property and make periodic trips down for special cleaning and organizing. I cannot imagine a more perfect "boss" to have than Mike in continuing to operate this vacation rental.

Why Teri Phipps chose Asheville

West Asheville has seen dramatic change in the last 10 years and we wanted to be a part of this dynamic transformation! While we love to visit the downtown area, the crowds, the lack of parking, the more hectic pace was not what we were looking for in a retirement location. We wanted to be close to all those wonderful things that Asheville has to offer - just not right in the middle of it. Our little dead end street backs up to a private boarding school with a great historical backstory and their 330 acres provide surround us with a wonderful forest home for deer and other wildlife. We love watching deer while we have our morning coffee

What makes this house unique

Quiet, dead end street, but only 2 miles from funky West Haywood Avenue. Just over 5 miles to downtown, the River Arts District and The Biltmore. The location cannot be beat!

This beautiful home boasts a layout which provides plenty of opportunity to congregate for groups and family reunions, but enough bedrooms and bathrooms to allow privacy too.

From the radiant floor heating in the family room to the locally sourced walnut floors and the hickory cabinetry in kitchen and bathrooms - this house is warm and inviting -

Guestbook comments from the manager

Comfort that feels like home!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home, great layout, perfect for bringing your pet along (although we did not this first trip). Well stocked kitchen, comfy bedrooms, and GREAT LOCATION. This home was so much more than it portrays. We had a wonderful long weekend stay enjoying both its comfort and its ideal easy access to everywhere we wanted to go. Terrific owner to deal with as well as a great resource for what to see, to do and where to eat. Will definitely be back!!

Amazing house! Everything was perfect.

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 6 girls went to Asheville for a bachelorette weekend. This house couldn't have been more perfect! It was even cuter and larger in person. It feels brand new. I stayed in the master bedroom and it was so comfortable. This bed was perfect for my pregnant self! I could've slept all day. The open layout was great for everyone to hangout. We even got to take advantage of the porch because of the warm weather! Nice, large shampoo bottles were provided in the bathrooms along with anything you'd need (hairdryer, towels, etc). I can't say enough good things about this place. 8 can't wait to return one day with my husband and dogs. They had dog beds and crates provided. I also LOVED the alpaca touches :)

This home was a great location too. It only took about 10-15 minutes to get downtown. Once you got out of the neighborhood it was a straight shot into downtown--so easy! It was also only 15ish minutes from Biltmore village, 20 to Sierra Nevada Brewery (which is outside of Asheville), and 2 miles from west Asheville where we ate Biscuit Head (twice!!).

Do yourself a favor and book this home!

Thoroughly enjoyable & relaxing Asheville experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family -- coming from Wisconsin & New York -- from the first communication with Teri to check-out, was so very happy with our Christmas getaway spent at the Green Woodland Retreat. Though minutes from downtown Asheville, the location amongst the trees & hills surrounding the city made it feel like a rural home in the forest. All the amenities are 'as advertised' and the home is very comfortably furnished for a groups needs and wants. Teri & her staff even had hung Holiday decorations to add to the ambience of the 'season'! Teri's timely response to any questions, as well as her advance instructions & rental details, were most appreciated and thorough. Certainly hope that we'll be able to return to the peace & joy of this 'Home Away' experience at some future dates.

Amazing house

  • 5 of 5

My extended family and I stayed here for our holiday celebration, and this house was beyond perfect for our needs. The pictures don't really do the house justice... it's absolutely gorgeous and exceeded our expectations! We all felt at home and we were beyond comfortable, from the beds to the well stocked kitchen! Driving into Asheville for the day was so easy, and grocery stores are within minutes. The house setting is such that you feel like you're in a secluded cabin, but modern conveniences are aplenty. Love this house, and we hope to be back next time we visit Asheville!

Owner's Response: We're so glad you had a great time and enjoyed all the wonderful things Asheville has to offer! There is something for everyone and all of these great options are just a short drive from the house in West Asheville. I agree, the guest BEDROOMS are small, but we have put top end quality bamboo/silk pillowtop mattresses/boxsprings and they are QUEEN size where the large master bedroom has a KING size bed. When we were putting the vacation rental together 8 years ago, we thought about putting in full size beds as this would make the guestrooms appear larger, but, we opted for a larger queensize bed as we are more comfortable on a larger bed and felt this was a higher priority than more space to move around in the bedroom. So glad you had a great time!
