After 35 years in southeast Florida, finally being able to move permanently to Cedar Key was a big change. I thought it might be hard to adjust to this small town atmosphere, but that hasn't been the case. With the natural beauty of Cedar Key and the abundant wildlife, there is always something to keep me entertained.
Tina Ryan purchased this cottage in 2006
I found Cedar Key while traveling along the west coast and saw a sign 'discover the islands of the Nature Coast.' I spent the day enjoying this quaint little town and kept coming back. When I saw the cottage for sale, I fell in love with it and decided to buy it for my Mom. Since I live 4 blocks away, I thought this would be a perfect arrangement. I furnished it and gave it a personal touch. Unfortunately, Mom was never able to move in. So, I'm offering it for rent to other people so they can visit Cedar Key and enjoy it as much as I do.
The Sunflower Cottage is a quaint and well-equipped cottage located in the heart of Cedar Key. It's 2 blocks from the grocery store, 2 blocks from the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see and only a short golf cart ride from the main shopping district. The only vacation cottage in Cedar Key that offers a golf cart for you to get around town during your visit. A golf cart alone would cost you $52-$72 per day so my rate of $130 per night is a great bargin.
Your cottage is adorable. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud and we loved having so many channels on the TV...unlike many of the places in Cedar Key. We'll definitely be back to the E Street Cottage. Sara
We booked this cottage a week before our trip. It was clean and very cute. The golf cart was a nice perk, enjoyed driving around town in it. You could even walk, it was close to everything. It was nice to find a pet friendly place that didn't take advantage and charge outrageous deposits and pet fees.
Not a whole lot to do in Cederkey, enjoyed Tony's twice, great clam chowder, I would not recommend Steamers, their oysters were the size of clams. Closest mayor store 30 miles away, but they do have a little grocery store. if you are going to relax and do nothing this is the place for you. They do have a small beach area, but the water is brownish, no thanks. Found a few little shops to go into, and enjoyed the museum.
MY biggest problem was the owner. Yes we did book it a week out, she told me to send a check, which I did. When she received my check she responded "Got It" in an email. Really, that's it? I responded " I'm assuming you mean my check, what next? What is address of house? When is check in time? " Then she sent a generic email about checking in, the address and she would be coming by to pick up the rest of the money we owed. Wait, I paid the whole amount, what money owed? So I emailed her back " Didn't I pay full amount, I'm confused" Her reply "Got the check"
We have rented from Homeaway, for maybe 15 years. I thought it was very rude. Is she that busy that she couldn't take the time to give me all information in first email after receiving the full amount due? Then she showed up on our last night, we were sitting outside with our doxies, she said she was there to bring the trash can up, But she sure checked her book several times to see when we were checking out and if we owed her money. She made me feel like I was bothering her, which I hated.
I have been visiting Cedar Key for several years each Spring with my golden retrievers. I have to say Sunflower Cottage is very dog friendly and loved riding around in the golf cart. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and the owner was great to work with. I will stay here again for sure!!!
We have been enjoying getaways in Cedar Key for 25 years, and have stayed at many homes, cottages and condos over the years. Yours is our new favorite! Perfect size for our family and pets and a great location. The golf cart is a wonderful perk. See you this summer.
We are constant visitors to Cedar Key & always stay here if possible. So quaint & attractive & feels like home from the minute you walk in. Love scooting about in the golf cart. Our little dog loves to ride in the cart & going out to eat with us. So many restaurants allow dogs on the outdoor patios & decks. They even provide water & one even offers a doggie menu. Cedar Key is my happy place & Sunfower Cottage makes it ever happier. Tina is a lovely person & perfectly helpful for any needs or info.
We are two guys who wanted a nice cottage with two bedrooms and a place that would take our two dogs. We just wanted to hang and go kayaking and eat Grouper. This place was absolutely wonderful. Tina our host was very gracious in every way. Just a terrific place to stay and sooooo reasonable.
