Our 'Monte Alentejano' is located on the edge of the small village of São Luís, overlooking the countryside and about 15 km from the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Vincentina. The guest house has 2 rooms with separate entrances and private bathroom. There is a large fruit and vegetable garden and chickens. Enjoy the peace and serenity of rural life.
The house is situated on a hill, with a view of our beautiful, naturally deserted valley. This includes 10.5 hectares, mainly cork oaks, pine trees and olive trees, as well as our large organic fruit and vegetable garden, which is bathed in water by a stream and offers many places to observe nature. The house is built of pile clay (Taipa) and therefore remains cool in the summer, it has been completely renovated in 2016. We have a large terrace area, with tables, chairs, small outside kitchen hammocks, couch and grill - mostly covered and so useable all year, but especially during the day shady.
The two rooms with their own entrance are:
1. A 'studio' with about 34 m², a double bed, a foldaway / sleeping couch, a kitchenette, an own dining table and an open fireplace, as well as a spacious bathroom (2 to max.
Second A 'double', about 16 m² with double bed and private bathroom (2 persons).
The small village of São Luís can be reached on foot (10 min) or by bike, there is everything necessary incl. Cafes, restaurants, pharmacy, a small market hall etc. Apart from that, we are mainly surrounded by forests and meadows, which invite you to go hiking, horse riding and cycling (eg Distance from Rota Vincentina). We are on the edge of the natural park 'Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina', whose beaches are about 15 min. By car.
Lisbon and Faro airports are about 180 km and 140 km away respectively. You can reach us by public transport (best with speech Expressos of Lisbon), but we recommend a rental car, if you want to explore the area and beaches etc.
Children are welcome. We have several bicycles, guitars, surfboards and umbrellas to lend (partly for a fee - please best to check before arrival). Beach towels are to be brought along.
We live most of the year in the main house, have a very nice dog, chickens and bees. Our guests are personally welcomed and we are always available for questions and tips. If you are interested in our garden, which is cultivated according to permaculture principles, you are also welcome to join us - the reward is fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and honey from our own production (seasonal).
