About Dan & Joetta Silva, Owners of Villa Cecilia

My wife are I are both real estate professionals. We own and manage rental properties in the United States and the Turks and Caicos Islands. We discovered the Turks and Caicos Islands in the year 2000 and have returned every year since. We have also purchased a number of investments in the Islands including the Villa Cecilia.

Dan & Joetta Silva, Owners of Villa Cecilia purchased this villa in 2009

Why Dan & Joetta Silva, Owners of Villa Cecilia chose Turks & Caicos

After staying in Providenciales for several years in a row we decided to explore the outer Islands. As a result of our trips, we discovered the Island of North Caicos. It's beaches rivaled those of Grace Bay and the people were extremely friendly. North Caicos is located between the world renowned Island of Parrot Cay and Middle Caicos. So we felt it was a safe investment. We were attracted to its pristine and private sandy beaches. We decided to purchase an oceanfront lot in Pumpkin Bluff and build our 'dream Home': the Villa Cecilia. The Villa is named after my mother.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had the most amazing time at your home in N. Caicos. It was everything we were hoping for. Totally secluded and did not leave the property for 7 days and did not see another person except Chrishelle the whole time we were there. It was the perfect setting for our 2 and 3 year olds. You have a beautiful home and it was well kept with everything that we needed during our stay. Thank you for having the experience from arrival to departure be seamless and effortless."

An incredible family vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

We have been home now 2 weeks from Villa Cecillia and constantly find ourselves remembering our week, looking at pictures and talking about what a great family holiday we had. We were initially going to shop for our groceries and bring them on the ferry but last minute had Chrischelle shop for us. I would absolutely not do it any other way. We are a family of 5 and with our luggage and the added groceries (plus trying to keep meat cold) would not have been an enjoyable way to start the trip. Chrischelle did a fantastic job picking up everything on our list (and it was a long one!). Chrischelle was also very helpful before we arrived as I had emailed her many questions.

The villa is incredibly beautiful just like the pictures! It is very spacious, open, has a gorgeous kitchen and stunning views of the ocean. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. We came to North Caicos to relax and spend lots of time together as a family. We loved the quiet but this location is definitely not for every family with kids 10-16 years old. There isn't really much to do but for our family it was perfect because it was exactly what we needed and expected. Our kids loved it!!

There were 2 families renting the villa beside us but lucky for us they were hardly ever on the beach. For our entire week we only saw the local fisher man and maybe 2 other people. Perfect for us!

We spent every day walking on the beach, snorkelling (mostly in front of the villa), reading, running (some of us!) and playing some games. We did walk a few times to 3 Mary Cays but it was rough the one day we tried to snorkel there. My husband and 2 boys had more fun snorkelling in front of the villa where they saw lion fish, coral, starfish, a stingray and many other smaller fish.

We only rented a car one day and spent the day exploring North Caicos and also Middle Caicos. Mudjin Harbour was very beautiful and really needs to be seen to be appreciated. We ate lunch at Danny's which was good and we were glad that we did. Also ate at Silver Palms Restaurant and we would highly recommend it. Delicious! Make sure you try the lime pound cake with lime glaze!

I have nothing negative to say about this villa, our holiday was perfect. You will not be disappointed if you go and I am sure you will come away with many wonderful memories.

Thank you so much to Dan, the owner, for sharing this incredible vacation spot. We would love to return!!!

Best kept secret! Let's keep it that way!!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for lots of action, a bustling beach, lots of loud and unattended kids and a hopping downtown area... Villa Cecelia is just the place for you. The Villa is a bit tight, the kitchen is small but adequate and parking can be a problem depending on the season but Dan and Joetta do keep the place in good order.

Now, go away and find another place!!

Really, my wife, Eileen, and I just returned from a week at Villa Cecelia. What an amazing vacation. Villa Cecelia is the perfect place if you are looking for complete solitude, no people (other than yourselves) and zero action. During the entire week we saw just 2 people one day walking on the beach, that's it. The home is amazing: new construction, roomy and perfectly appointed; will rival any villa on any of the posh Caribbean islands. We live is a very congested area and work stressful jobs so when we go on vacation we want to completely shut down to recharge and reflect. This is why we come to North Caicos and now that we found the villa we will definitely be back. If you go bring plenty of books, lots of sunscreen and a barrel of booze and you'll be all set!

Thanks Dan and Joetta, we obviously had an amazing time!

Ron and Eileen

Beautiful oasis away from reality!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the opportunity to celebrate our 20th anniversary in this amazing piece of paradise. We were alone most of the week, saw absolutely no one on the beach our entire stay (I take that back...we had skinny dippers on our last evening there, but when we wandered out on the beach to watch the sun set they ran off quickly!) and could have gone the entire time not seeing anyone if we had not ventured out.

If you are looking for entertainment, lots of places to eat and things to do.... stay on another island. This place is for the lazy, do nothing and unwind type of vacation. The water is spectacular, the beach goes on forever and the sand is beautiful. The snorkeling is not much to write home about. We have stayed in the Cayman Islands for many years and are spoiled by the wildlife and coral. This is not the island for extensive snorkeling. You can either walk quite a way up the beach to Three Marys Cay to snorkel (or drive) and see much more sea life and some coral.

The villa is amazing and we had way too much room for just the two of us, but have since discussed bringing our three children with us for the next trip.

Crishelle, the property manager, makes you feel right at home, provides you with whatever you could possibly desire, and is available for the most part. She purchased all of our groceries after I sent her a grocery list, brought us fresh fish which lasted us several meals, and provided our rental car. (side note: the rental was less than desireable, so research thoroughly where you will rent a vehicle from)

There are small grocery stores on the island which provide the basics and a few restaurants to choose from which have standard grouper and conch.

We travelled over to Middle Caicos and did a little sight seeing. We also ate at Daniel's Cafe and had a wonderful time. The meal was awesome and the owner and his son (the cook) were great "entertainment" for us during our meal. They were so very friendly and helpful.

The only negative I have is regarding bugs...I would highly encourage you to bring something to ward off sand fleas (or sand flies as the locals refer to them). They did not come out until it had rained later in the week and the ferry ride back to the main island is where we were eaten alive by them. They itched and burned for about a week after... not fun! I read that baby oil is a good repeller of sand fleas.

Overall, we had a marvelous, lazy and sun soaked time. Beautiful surroundings!!

Amazing piece of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

As others have said in their reviews, Villa Cecilia is every bit as wonderful as it looks in the photos, if not better. After a particularly brutal winter back home in Ottawa, Canada, our one-week visit to North Caicos was the ideal getaway. The beach could not have been more perfect. Because it's in a sheltered cove, the water is calm and relatively shallow, making it perfect for snorkeling and swimming. The powder soft, white sand beach stretched as far as we could see, and we pretty much had it all to ourselves for the entire week. We loved the covered cabana (which you can't see in the photos) for sitting with a drink and a good book, enjoying the breeze and incredible view.

We had Chrishelle stock the groceries for us, and I'm not sure how you could do it any other way. The ferry is like a crowded school bus, and you can imagine what it would be like transporting a week's worth of groceries and your luggage on a packed school bus. We had to buy some groceries ourselves because our youngest daughter has severe food allergies and we needed to read ingredients on certain products. All told, we were a little surprised that the groceries for the 5 of us came to $800US for the week and felt terrible when we actually came up $20 short with Chrischelle! So, FYI, you can get US cash at the ATM on North Caicos either using a bank card or cash advance on a credit card.

We drove to Middle Caicos and took a few pictures of Mudjin Harbour and also visited the Conch Bar caves. The caves were awesome - we definitely recommend checking them out!

One thing we were curious about was whether there are jellyfish at this beach, and I can't guarantee it would be the same for everyone, but we did not see any sign whatsoever of any nasty creatures at all while we were there. In fact, we saw very little marine life period, just a few fish, one teeny tiny hermit crab, and a starfish that washed up on the beach. My husband saw a couple of lobsters when he swam out a bit deeper, and also an occupied conch shell at Three Mary's Cays (which was worth the hour walk to by the way).

One last thing I wanted to mention, although WE certainly did not travel there to use the Internet, there is Wi-Fi, but the most we could do all week was occasionally check e-mail. I mention this just in case you're traveling with teenagers obsessed with the Internet to set their expectations appropriately.;)

Thanks so much for having us at your incredible property!
