We cater to those who can not tolerate typical cleaning chemicals and require synthetic fragrance free accommodation. To facilitate this, guests refrain from use of synthetic scent etc. while in residence. Reservations are limited to mature adults and small families who have such needs, or are willing to adapt while in residence.

Although we do not encourage it, we do sometimes have guests who are allergic to dogs and thus far everyone has done well due to our cleaning methods/efforts.

We offer a single property, with one goal in mind and that is to provide a safe haven for those who can't tolerate synthetic scents and other specific exposure hazards of modern life.

You'll find our approach is immediately noticeable in nearly every aspect upon arrival, from the lack of synthetic scent, cleanliness, linens and many aspects you typically won't find in an ordinary accommodation product.

We serve a small specific niche and communicate directly with all potential guests to ensure best possible result for those who truly need us. To this end, we slow the process down with real conversation and contract documents. When only one member of a group needs our service, it usually takes a couple days for them to check to see that others are able to temporarily adapt. Since we manage our own reservations, we are able to allow reasonable time for potential guests to thoughtfully consider prior to commitment. We accept MasterCard/Visa (via our own merchant account with our local bank) and personal checks drafted on US banks only.

This doesn't mean one must be chemical sensitive to stay with us, it just means guests must be willing to adapt while in residence. We've several loyal guests who are health conscious in general or happened on us when they initially took a chance because of open dates and "felt like they won the lottery."

Light airy end unit featuring hardwood floors throughout and 12' ceilings in the heart of Folly Beach... referred to locally as 'The Edge of America' and well known for it's eclectic mix of inhabitants. Folly has long been attractive to the artist community and is one of the best surfing areas on the east coast. Folly is reminiscent of a bit of Asheville transported to the beach.

Peaceful, perfectly situated location away from the hustle and bustle of front beach activity levels, yet truly a 7 minute stroll to beach and fishing pier, 5 minutes to Center Street restaurants and entertainment. Historic Charleston, with all it's charm, is only a 15 minute drive away.

Why Michael & Cheryl chose Folly Beach

We originally chose this townhome as a second residence as Folly has exceptionally clean air and Michael needed to escape the effects of the heaviest spring pollens at home. We are now able to share our townhome year round as he is no longer forced to flee.

What makes this townhome unique

We strive to keep our home suitable for sensitive individuals by cleaning with natural products and essential oils as well as avoiding chemical sprays etc. Chemical scent free laundry detergent as well as chemical free air freshener and insect repellent provided. All guests refrain from using synthetically scented products while in residence. If advice is needed regarding naturally scented products we're glad to assist.

With the county boat landing just a couple blocks away, it's convenient to go for a quick paddle on a whim, the back side of Folly offers wonderful places to kayak. We never know what we're going to see. The island is also a great place to jog and bicycle, plus miles and miles of beach to enjoy. The outdoor shower with hot and cold water makes beach excursions so much more convenient and really does minimize sand inside. The location is prefect, not in the hub bub of front beach activity, yet an easy walk to beach access and to restaurants etc. on Center Street.

Fabulous, clean, and refreshing getaway!

With a focus on a chemically free environment to accommodate people with sensitivities, Micheal and Cheryl have created a cozy, spotlessly clean haven with countless amenities and thoughtful touches to make your stay feel like home! Although we have no allergy issues, the care devoted to providing all our needs was "over the top". Our dog was recovering from a snakebite, so Cheryl had filtered water,, rug pads on steps, orvis blankets to cover furniture and a dream dog spa in the garage for our pet's comfort. The kitchen is fully furnished with every need from blender to coffee press to shrimp de-veiners. The tempurpedic mattress in the Master was so comfortable and to awaken with a cup of coffee in the screened balcony, listen to music through the BOSE system, or do computer work on the big draft table was great! They provided 3 bikes, beach chairs and boogie boards with an easy walk to the beach. Although the check in process had paperwork with the commitment to honor chemically free living, I was grateful that they took such diligence in providing that environment. Truly stewards of the earth and love for health! We will be back to their wonderful CLEAN retreat! Denise and Tim Pastoor

Wonderful rental!

We have stayed in the townhouse for four years now. This is a beautiful place to stay, clean beyond words and the owners now seem like family to me. They are willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and that you have a pleasant stay. This is truly a home away from home with anything you could possibly need. If you want a top notch rental this is your place.

Feels like home!

This was the third time that my family and I have stayed at this home. My use of the word home here instead of property is deliberate. When I go on vacation I don't like to stress about the cleanliness or comfort of the place where we stay. This is the only vacation home that I have ever revisited, as it fits that bill. The owners are incredibly helpful and informative. They have outfitted this home as if they live there. Here is a list of some of my favorite things that are provided at this home: temperpedic mattress in the master, Bose wave radio, huge garage, mostly hardwood floors, unique furniture, and vast array of supplied amenities from bikes to Brita filtered water. Stay here. You won't be disappointed. Even the lazy susan in the kitchen cabinets is spotless. No where else would that be clean.

Perfect Honeymoon!

We stayed here the week of June 7th, 2015 for our honeymoon. The townhouse was absolutely wonderful, exceptionally clean, and the location was outstanding! Michael and Cheryl were super helpful and friendly! They provided chemical free products which is was very helpful since we do not have any allergies and did not already have any of the required soaps or detergents. The bikes included with the house were a big hit with us, we rode them just about everywhere! We could be at the beach, or at one of the many restaurants or shops in just a few minutes. The entire week we were there we hardly left Folly Beach because we enjoyed exploring the island on the bikes so much! We loved cooking breakfast in the mornings, and it was awesome that the kitchen had just about everything that you could ever need or want in a kitchen! The enclosed balconies were perfect to relax in, and the bed was extremely comfortable! We loved our stay, and we hope to visit Folly Beach again soon!

Very nice very clean A+

This place is very nice, very clean, great if you have allergies, & very dog friendly. This is by far the best place I've stayed at on vacation. It is so clean that I could walk around bare foot worry free. They have a lot of this furnished such as boogie boards, beach chairs, bikes, a kite, a dog bath, plenty towels. They also supply other necessities such as soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. it's very peaceful to sit out on the balcony and relax and just a short walk to the beach. I would recommend a beach cart if you have a lot to take with you to the beach like me. Met the owners and they're very nice and are very helpful. I hope to stay with you again! I found my spot on Folly!

Spring Break Getaway

We did not know what to expect but our expectations were fulfilled and more. The property is exceptionally clean and well maintained and beautifully furnished in every way, Park your car and leave it there for your entire stay unless you wish to make the 15 minute drive to Charleston. A short walk to the beach and every restaurant on the island. We would absolutely recommend staying here and hope to return ourselves.

Folly was always the bohemian destination, some of us were lucky enough to live front beach while it was still a sleepy artist community. Much has changed over the years but Folly holds true to its laid back attitude. Though we admit as things have evolved, we prefer a location a bit back from the activity of front beach especially in the summer months. It's a peaceful location and convenient to historic Charleston which is only 10 miles away. Folly has 6 wonderful miles of beach to walk, especially nice in winter, and is one of the best surfing areas on the east coast. If you're into kayaks the back side of the island is a wonderful place to explore with ample peaceful waters to quietly escape into and observe the native creatures. It's a wonderful place for birding, watching the dolphin feed at sunset, and if you're lucky you may even see a manatee. Bring your kayaks, the public boat landing is just 2 blocks away and there is plenty of room in the garage to store your gear.
