I wanted to find a place to take my family and experience the wonder of the Rocky Mountains. Mike Carter's cabins provided for all of our needs. The cabins were clean and well equipped and in a location with access to rafting, fishing, and hiking. Mike's hospitality helped our family experience a wonderful vacation. Would definitely do it again--Thanks Mike!
We loved staying at Michael's cabin. He was a great communicator during the booking process and has lots of good information about local activities. Everything in the cabin was has described and very comfortable. 10/10
We had a fantastic time @ Michaels log cabin! The scenery was beautiful, the cabin was comforting, & Michael was a great help! I would definitely recommend Michaels log cabins, you get your money's worth!
The cabin was in a quiet, private location nestled in Evergreen. We found it to be a great, relaxing retreat for the weekend. It was close to several hiking trails. And the wood burning stove was very nice to return to each day. We really enjoyed being able to bring our dogs along on our trip as well! Communication about check in, check out, and expectations during our stay was abundant and clear. As to be expected with most older cabins, there were a few quirks such as hot water ran out very quickly. Also, there are a few things that need refreshing around the cabin such as pans, sharper knives, towels, bed spread, etc. One thing that struck me as very odd, the first photo in the listing is not a photo from this property. If you stand on the patio, you do not see a sweeping view like the photo. In fact, it's not even the same patio when you compare to the photo. However, with that said, we were not disappointed with the patio or views. Finally, before booking, pay particular close attention to the cleaning policy. Owner allows you do the cleaning yourself, which is a nice way to make your stay more affordable. I will note that when we arrived we found toothpaste on the bathroom sink faucet from the last guest. Generally, the bathroom needed a more detailed cleaning. Overall, I didn't feel as comfortable knowing cleaning was up to the last guest, who was likely in a hurry to leave and not wanting to deep clean on vacation. I would much prefer to pay more and know the cabin was cleaned thoroughly by a professional each time.
I had a WONDERFUL time in this cabin at the end of June 2014 (the 'date of arrival' calendar would not go back that far). Michael and Joyce went to lot of trouble to make sure everything their guests need (within reason) is here - salt and pepper shakers, ketchup, toilet paper, games, a fan - too much to name. This place is immaculate, spider-free, private ... we couldn't have asked for a better cabin. We hope to come back someday and will definitely look up one of your properties, Michael. It was a pleasure to stay here. Thank you!
We spent three nights at the Canyon House and used it as home base for a few long days of disc golf in the area. The cabin was comfortable overall, and we had a great time. We cooked meals each night. The kitchen was decently appointed, but lacked sharp knives and a good cutting board. We used the gas grill on the deck for cooking steaks. Definitely nice to have. The wood burning stove was nice, and the host left instructions and a starter brick. Communication with the host was very clear overall.
The road to the cabin winds up the side of the mountain and is paved three-quarters of the way. The last mile or so dirt and very steep. Our rented Nissan Versa struggled on the loose gravel, but we were fine. If you're traveling in the snowy months, I think you'd need four-wheel-drive.
A couple of things to watch out for: the listing says the cabin sleeps six, and has beds for six. Which, is technically true, I suppose, if everybody is sleeping two-to-a-bed. We were four old friends, not couples, so one of use ended up sleeping on the floor. I wouldn't say the couch is quite big enough for sleeping. We managed, but unless you're all intimate, I'd say the cabin is more ideal for a party of three.
Also, the listing clearly says the cabin has internet. It does not. There was a note on the wall informing us of internet at the office nearby. We all had good cell phone reception, so the lack of connection to the world wasn't a problem. But if you need to do work that requires internet while staying at the cabin, you may want to think twice.
Overall, a nice cabin in a beautiful setting.
