Exceeded Expectations

  • 5 of 5

This apartment certainly lived up to (and exceeded) expectations! It is a beautiful apartment, very clean and wonderfully set out.

Paola and Mirco met us when we arrived, explained everything about the region, there are also a few guidebooks for the area which proved really useful in planning our stay, they recomended a local restaurant & booked a table for us that evening, it specialised in fish & the food was excellent, we used it again later in the week.

The location is great - just a walk across the road to the water edge, which was perfect for a stroll at sunset, and with bars/restaurants/shops/things to do nearby.

We hired a car for our stay which meant we could explore the area and see all the sights (getting up into the mountains was particularly stunning). We drove to Florence & Pisa, which on the toll roads is very easy.

Although we were out most days making the most of the fine weather, if you didn't want to go exploring, the apartment was a great place to relax. The roof terrace is just beautiful and perfect for having some food and drinks or sunbathing, there is a BBQ which we didn't use, but I'm sure you could pick up some delicious seafood and put your culinary skills to work!

The kitchen is very well appointed, having everything you need for your stay, the wirlpool bath was a bonus.

We spent most evenings having a drink on the roof terrace watching the boats come & go or went down to a local bar or restaurant. There is also a tv with sky at the apartment, a lot of the channels can convert to English.

We didn't use the restaurant across the road as other reviews had said it was expensive, I'm sure Paola and Mirco will give you guidance.

Overall, a perfect stay - we would love to go back!

Wonderful location - perfect hosts

  • 5 of 5

From our initial enquiry to our actual visit, Paola and Mirco were so friendly and helpful it felt like we had known them for years.

The apartment is in a perfect location both in terms of the views and the convenience for local restaurants and exploring this historic and beautiful region,

We flew in via Pisa but Genoa and Florence are equally easy to reach.

Parking at the apartment was a big bonus in Bocca di Magra which can get busy at weekends.

Bocca itself is a great place to stroll around; people were very friendly and many spoke English. There is a range of places to eat from fine dining to a pizzeria. We thoroughly recommend La Lucerna located right next door for a special wining and dining experience (separately reviewed on Trip advisor) and Sette Archi, located near the marina for a fish lover's heaven.

The apartment is spacious and airy, equipped to a high standard and extremely clean but best of all it immediately felt like home. The views from the very large terrace are magnificent and photographs do not really do it justice. Wifi worked well, as did everything else.

Overall we have no hesitation in recommending this apartment, which we believe represented outstanding value for money.

Thank you Paola and Mirco. We look forward to meeting you again.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Noce for 2 wonderful weeks and could't have been more pleased. The weather was perfect and Paola and Mirco were the best of hosts. They did a walk thru of the house showing us how things worked and provided all information necessary to make our stay the best possible. The beds were comfortable and the view from the terrazza truly incredible. Mirco and Paolo provided suggestions on places to see nearby and excursions not to miss. The boat ride from La Spezia up Cinque Terra was one of the highlights of our trip. The village and several restaurants are within walking distance and the one across the street from the villa is both convenient and delicious. When we needed to replace a tire on our rental car, Paola knew just where to go and gave us perfect directions.

Should we return to Bocca Di Magra we will definitely stay at Villa Noce. Thank you so much, Paola and Mirco, for making our stay so memorable.

Owner's Response: Perfect guests to host, used to travel but ready to hear tips regarding our area. We were called by them only in case of need and they left the property in very good conditions. Surely we'd like to host them again.

The best of Italy

  • 5 of 5

We rented two apartments in Bocca di Magra for our extended family. We were a little nervous because this was our first VRBO experience. Making the reservation and the deposit were simple and the owners answered all questions promptly. We still weren't sure what to expect. WOW! The apartments were very clean and equipped with all the expected items and lots of nice extras- like bicycles and a grill. We arrived earlier than expected and Paola hurried over to get us settled. She had great information about the local area - where to get groceries, best restaurants, activities, markets and more. Bocca di Magra is conveniently located for several great day trips but I was always looking forward to getting "home" because it was so wonderful in Bocca di Magra. It will be even more convenient when the Magra bridge is repaired. The town is beautiful and the people were friendly. I can't wait to return.

Quiet, convenient drive to many areas, and wonderful hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We are still staying in this apartment as I write and hate the thought of leaving. In the autumn, the town of Bocca di Magra is quiet which is far preferable to us to the hustle of the cities nearby. We choose this accommodation because it is equal distance to Cinque Terre and Lucca, two place we wanted to visit, but we found so much more!

The apartment is large and especially perfect for two couples with two private bedrooms. The bathroom is large with both a tub and separate shower. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need to cook meals if you choose. The apartment is bright and the patio is very large. It is like an outdoor room in warm weather.

You will definitely need and want to have a car, and off street parking is included (the apartment is the separated upstairs of a home with each level 100% independent). A restaurant is located next door with others nearby and even walking distance, a crepe stand is a very close by. The view looks directly out at the river and mountains.

The drive to Cinque Terre is less than an hour, to Florence is about an hour and a half (so Lucca is much closer), and to many small gorgeous and typical Italian towns, you are minutes away. The location was perfect for us since we wanted to stay in the same residence for the whole week.

And finally, Paola and Mirco are wonderful hosts! The communication was easy, the transaction went perfectly! The most fun part of this adventure is that we have a very close connection in Nova Scotia. Emails were flying halfway around this very small world about that coincidence. We wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation.

Wonderful Surprise!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the opportunity to stay in this apartment last month. We had never been to the area and were so pleasantly surprised. The owners/hosts Paola and Mirco were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. They provided much information about things to do and see. The apartment was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Best of all, we loved the huge terrace which had a table, six chairs and loungers and a brand new umbrella. The view was fantastic; looking out over the Magra river and to the Carrara mountains beyond. We loved to have breakfast there and to finish our days of sightseeing relaxing on the terrace. We were lucky enough to be in Bocca Di Magra for two festivals in the town. This was a wonderful experience to enjoy the culture and fabulous food; all prepared by the residents. The atmosphere was wonderful as tables were set along the river and we enjoyed delectable mussels, fresh pasta and wine. Another highlight was dining at La Lucerna, a restaurant perched over the water and just a few steps from the apartment. The service and food were excellent. There were gorgeous seaside villages to visit; some of the most beautiful we have ever seen! Three of our favourites were Portofino, Portovenere and Camogli. All within an hour's drive from the apartment. We even travelled to Lucca, Pisa and some of the beautiful medeival villages in the Northern Tuscan hills. This was a wonderful vacation and we would return in a heartbeat! Thank you Paola and Mirco for everything.
