Felt unsafe, not as advertised
So to start, I say unsafe because the stove caught fire while we were. I think the manager was trying to tell me it was less than 5 years old, but I don't believe that as it looked very old. And I also say unsafe because out of the 4 slider doors leading out to the top floor balcony, only 1 appeared to have a working lock. That's concerning when you have little kids there like we did (2 of them were under 4). In addition, the safe-looking fence around the pool (shown in the pictures) is not there - there is what appears to be 2 to 3 foot high chicken wire that provides very little resistance (in addition to the little gate being difficult to lock). Again a concern when there are little kids around.
Other pictures feel misleading to me too - that nice, comfy looking couch is not there. I don't believe the "newer construction" selling point either - the countertops and some tile might be new, but the rest of the house looked pretty run down to me. There is carpet when you first walk in that covers part of the floor - it feels like you are stepping on loose/missing boards. The kitchen cupboards are old and at least one is broken. The wood floor upstairs looked very old and scuffed to me, the chairs out on the balcony looked old, rusty and broken. My bathroom didn't have a towel rack in it, just holes in the wall where I guess maybe one is supposed to go? One of the knobs on the grill is broken. There were piles of dirt/debris at the bottom of the pool which never got cleaned out by either the pool guy or the automatic sweeper. Oh and no matter how many times we swept, we continually found what looked like maggots on the upstairs floor. We would have gladly mopped if we could have found a mop. I don't recommend this house, I was very disappointed.
The house was awesome!
We had a family of 10 stay in the house. There was plenty of room for all of us. The kids enjoyed the pool. The view was wonderful. We were within walking distance to the beach. There was shopping a few minutes down the road and the local food trucks are must to do. The area is quiet and relaxing. It is close to all major cities and sites. We really enjoyed the house and would stay again if we ever get back to Oahu.
Nice house, some concerns
The home was well located for north shore. Views were good. It is a 3 bedroom house with laundry room converted to a small 4th bedroom with a double bed. Pool is not much to speak of, kids weren’t even too interested in it.
There was a mix up in communication and Home was not ready for us upon arrival which was a bummer after traveling 10hours. Numerous emails between I and the property manager including one the day before stating we were looking forward to being there the next but yet the property manager still forgot we were coming! We had to wash our own sheets and towels, clean out all the old food from fridge and counters. Maids came the next day and did a great job cleaning everything.
On our last day I got an email from owner about a fridge getting delivered and about one hour later they showed removing the main fridge and putting in the new one. Very unprofessional in my opinion to have this work done while guests our still there. The other fridge was working fine and it posed a major inconvenience. One hour heads up is not sufficient either and again one other issue showing that this is not a very well organized property manager.
Maybe with a new manager this could be a great rental but until then There is probably better options that won’t inconvenience you numerous times.
Great location for North Shore
This is a great house for North Shore. A couple of minutes drive to Wiamea beach and then with 10 minutes drive there's Sharks Cove (Great for snorkelling) Sunset Beach and Pipeline. We were lucky enough to be there when the Volcom surf championship was taking place. Incredible waves and just a great event to see these amazing surfers close up. Even the non-surfers couldn't help but be enthralled. Foodland 3 mins drive away and Haleiwa 10 minutes for shops and restaurants.
The house itself was very spacious, with great views of the sea, but we were 4 couples and the description listed 4 bathrooms. It has actually only got 3 (all en-suite so bit of a nuisance for the 4th bedroom). 4th bedroom is also rather cosy. The whole house looks like it could do with a bit of attention. The House is well fitted out for 6 people but with 8 we were forever moving chairs around for eating either indoors or outdoors. There is plenty of beach equipment - chairs, boards etc available. Many of the loungers were broken and the garden and pool area all looked a bit neglected. Sad because it could be a lovely house. Despite this, we had a great holiday on this lovely island and I would still recommend this house.
good location on north shore, but house was just okay
pool was dirty, they required us to wash all dishes and didn't provide trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent, etc. location on north shore was nice and house itself was clean. advertised that it could sleep 11 -- we felt even 9 was a squeeze since one of the beds is quite small
Great location. Close to everything North Shore. Clean and comfortable.
Clean and comfortable. A great location for exploring the North Shore. Advertised as sleeping 11. I counted beds for 9 max. A/C units in rooms don’t work very well and are very loud. 3 bdrms. have baths one is a converted laundry room. 1/2 bath upstairs on main level. Kitchen very dark and not very well stocked, had to run out to storewhile cooking dinner to purchase foil pans as they only had one cookie sheet and one 9x12, very burnt and rusty at that. House has electrical issues. Breakers tripped several times while cooking/ drying hair etc. Pool vacuum not working, making pool unusable. Overall, a nice family space and would consider booking again if nothing else available. Listed as 3 night minimum, when I tried to book for 3 nights manager quit corresponding with me until I agreed to a 4 night stay even, though we could only be there for 3 nights.
Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, boating, basketball
