Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Falcon Cove - Seeing is believing!! This is a very tranquil neighborhood nestled in the forest about 1/2 mile from hwy. 101. The area is beautiful with not a lot of traffic or noise. There is a local herd of elk that visit frequently. This house is everything you could hope for when you visit the coast. This is a two bedroom two bath home with a nice airy open floor plan and large windows to enjoy the wonderful ocean view. The house has a reverse living design - with the bedrooms on the ground floor and the living area upstairs. The living area has a glass sliding door that provides access to a wrap-around deck with spectacular views of the ocean. The kitchen and dining area are large enough to provide for lots of entertaining. The area, located just three miles north of Oswald West State Park and Short Sands Beach, provides plenty to do with hiking trails, beach walking and surfing. At low tide there is a nice sandy beach, just a couple minute walk from the house. There is also a TV/VCR/Stereo and plenty of reading material and games. Previous guests have commented to 'what a great view there was' and 'how well you could hear the sounds of the ocean'. So whatever you choose to do, this place offers it all.

Quiet Ocean Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We stayed one week and had fun exploring the various beaches in the area.

If you want a quiet getaway this is the place for you. We had no internet and no phone reception which was fine for me because I can live without all the distractions. Phone reception was available once we drove out of the immediate area. The beach here is rocky and difficult to walk on. There are some sandy beaches close by on the north side as well as in Manzanita. The view from the house is beautiful and the house was well maintained. The only problem was my daughter did get bites while sleeping in one of the rooms. We didn't take our dog with us but the bites were probably from fleas. Overall our stay was enjoyable and I would recommend this rental to a friend.

Owner's Response: We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at SeaBreeze! There is sandy beach at low tide in the Summer months and varying amount of sand at low tide during the rest of the year. The land phone line at the house is available for local calls. Cell phone reception varies by type of phone & carrier. This is the first report we've ever had of any type of bites. We will correct the problem right away.

Great place, great location

  • 5 of 5

This comfortable house had everything we needed. Fireplace, view of the ocean (though over some rooftops), easy access to beach (2 blocks away), full kitchen, comfy beds, good towels, and a perfect location, halfway between Cannon Beach and Manzanita, adjacent to Oswald West State Park, near lots of whale watching pullouts and wonderful hikes. A great getaway, even in the March rains!

Upstairs nice & bright, downstairs bedroom kind of musty

  • 3 of 5

The upstairs was very nice....comfy, and bright with a nice deck. Nice kitchen. The living room fireplace/chimney doesn't draw very well so difficult to get a fire going without continually blowing on it, or opening a door, which kind of defeats the purpose. The downstairs bedroom we stayed in was musty smelling. Not so pleasant. But bed was comfortable.

Owner's Response: The fireplace draws well if the instructions on the fireplace are followed. The house is very well built with no drafts, so the door should be opened slightly and a small fire initially built. Once the cold air is pushed up the chimney all is well. This is especially important in the cold Winter months. As we selectively rent out the house, bedroom windows can sometimes be closed for days or weeks at a time---especially in Winter. If needed, please open windows for a few minutes to freshen room.

Remote Retreat

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time in this quiet, remote property tucked among the trees but with a great view of the beach. This is an ideal spot because it is easy to get to town, but you get to escape the tourist traffic. My only critique is that the owners are clearly very concerned about any damage to the house (ie. scratches to gas cooktop surface) which made me a little nervous as I was cooking. It can be a little challenging to feel at home when you are constantly being reminded by handwritten notes to be careful. But the house was well equipped and we had an excellent stay.

Owner's Response: Sorry for any concern my notes may have caused. They were written in response to prior guest questions about care and usage of several features of the house.

A herd of elk visits the neighborhood frequently munching on the plants and grass. Also, there is a protected eagles nest on Cape Falcon.
