We are closed for the winter but accepting reservations for spring, summer and fall 2017. New for 2017, a wonderful large pier extending into the lake.
Make family memories in this charming, historic lakefront cottage. This roomy, lakefront cottage is the perfect site for a family vacation or gathering. Well furnished and meticulously cleaned and maintained by the owners, past visitors say that pictures can't convey how charming this cottage is. The large wrap-around enclosed porch with it's comfortable furnishings lets you relax with a drink or book in the lake breezes. A sandbox, climbing tree, and rope swing entertain children in the front yard. Lake Erie is 100 feet away with easy access by stairs. Located on a private lane with more barefoot vacationers than cars, the neighborhood invites visitors to unwind.
An attached wood deck and spacious yard allow for sunbathing and viewing of the ever-changing lake. Stairs lead down to a wooden deck, a pier and a ladder into the lake for on-site swimming. A public, sandy beach is two miles away or see our link to many close by beaches in Erie county that you can explore.
The large dining room table and fully-equipped kitchen allow for preparation of any meal imaginable. Upstairs, the sleeping area contains 4 bedrooms separated by walls and doors with all rooms opening to a common ceiling. (Sounds are shared, but visual privacy is provided.) Bedrooms all have newer beds. Whole house exhaust fans remove the warm air in the summer so the lake breezes can be enjoyed. Living area, bathrooms and porch have all been recently remodeled. The on site owners will make you feel right at home.
Children and adults of all ages enjoy the rustic charm of this cottage, located in Hartley Beach, a quiet cul-de-sac off the main road. If we are full, we recommend vrbo 23210 located a few doors away. Located in Huron, rated one of America's Coolest Small Towns in 2015 by Budget Travel. Twenty minutes from the larger city of Sandusky, home of Cedar Point and Kalahari waterpark.
We rent to other homeowners or adults over 25 y.o. who agree to respect our home as if it was their own.
Formerly summer residents, we now live in Huron year round, just next door to this historical cottage. We enjoy sharing our place with family and visitors.
Carol Quinn purchased this cottage in 1971
We bought this cottage many years ago when our 10 children were young so we could all enjoy Lake Erie and the simple pleasures of summer.
The unique benefits of this property revolve around the amazing great Lake Erie and the relaxed atmosphere of this neighborhood, which we rarely feel the need to leave.
We stayed at the cottage for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cottage is well-equipped and maintained. The kayaks were a nice bonus for my adult children. The toddlers wore themselves out, playing on the lawn and in the lake. The owners, Carol and George, were great. We hope to come back next year.
Great time, Very Clean! Extremely organized. Everything was as described. The lake was warm, the swimming was great. You can even see Cedar Point from the dock. Taking out the canoe and kayaks was a lot fun. The kids had a blast. Thank you George and Carol for a great time. Cheers
We stayed at this charming home 5 years ago with our friends and 6 kids aged 8-13 at the time. We had an amazing time and were thrilled when it was available for our return trip. The kids are now much bigger and older, but we all had a great time. They still loved swimming in the (cold!) lake and climbing the tree. Cedar Point is a short drive away and always on our to do list. Carol and George are wonderful people and make you feel right at home, without being intrusive. The cottage is well equipped with everything you might need. Although there is no air conditioning, there is plenty of ventilation and we were all very comfortable. I would highly recommend this cottage and we hope to come back again!
Stayed here for a 2nd time and loved it once again. House is charming and has EVERYTHING you need. Owners are great and really go out of their way to make you feel at home. Great location right along the lake, teens all enjoyed swimming. The tree and swing still a big hit even with the teens.
Great Property! Exceeded our expectations. Owners wonderful, hardworking, and very accommodating.
Enjoyed our stay and will return in the future if opportunity arises.
What a charming and cozy place for a relaxing get-away! The owners are delightful and helpful in every way anticipating your needs before you do. My husband, two sons, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter celebrated my 65th birthday at this historic cottage and loved every minute. The enclosed wrap-around porch was beautiful, and the "playroom" on it was a hit with my 14 month old granddaughter. She enjoyed rides in the beautifully restored Radio Flyer wagon, playing in the big toy box, and sitting at the Little Tykes table. The rest of us could sit, talk, drink, eat, and laugh as we watched and played with her on the porch. At night, we sat around the BIG dining room table and played our games. The bedrooms were fun - no ceiling! Be forewarned, you can hear the others in the bedrooms, but privacy is maintained with walls and doors.
Most impressive to me was how absolutely clean and well-stocked the cottage was! There wasn't a speck of dust anywhere - including the baseboards! Towels, sheets, comforters, blankets, silverware, dishes, pans - you name it - plenty was there.
Sitting by the firepit on the crisp fall night while listening to the lapping of Lake Erie and seeing the lights of Cedar Point miles down the coast brought pleasure and contentment. (The S'mores were good, too!) Even the wood was provided for us.
My family insists that we make this a yearly event, and I agree! Kudos to the owners! Your hard work and joy in serving us will always be greatly appreciated.
