A comfortable and bright San Francisco studio apartment, located in the Richmond district, is available for short term rental. It's a perfect size for a single traveler, a couple, or a small family who are looking for more budget accommodations in this expensive city.
The ideal guests for this rental are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in SF. They want to be in a family-friendly, more quiet neighborhood and don't mind spending 25-35 minutes on public transport to reach the tourist hot spots. They plan to spend most of their time out and about exploring this beautiful city, and not partying until late hours and then sleeping in the next morning. If this sounds like a good fit for you and what you're looking for, then read on!
The apartment's main space is split into 3 areas: a sleeping area, living area, and kitchen. In the sleeping area there is a comfortable queen-sized bed that sleeps 2. In the living area there is a pull out sofa that can accommodate 1 adult comfortably, or 2 children. We can provide a queen sized air mattress for a 4th adult. The kitchen is equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, microwave and a toaster oven, perfect for having simple breakfasts at home before starting your day of sightseeing. Be aware that there is no stove or full sized oven available in the rental. The bathroom is spacious and has a tub/shower combo.
The location is not considered a traditionally "touristy" part of the city, but rather more of a neighborhood for San Francisco residents. That being said, Golden Gate Park (home of the De Young museum, California Academy of Sciences, Japanese Tea Garden, and many other attractions), Ocean Beach, Baker Beach, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Presidio National Park are all nearby. Grocery shopping is simple as there are numerous produce markets and a large supermarket located within easy walking distance of the apartment. There are also many restaurants in the neighborhood, featuring cuisines from all over the world, and ranging in price from budget-friendly to fancy, special occasion-type places.
Public transportation is easily accessible, with 5 bus lines located within a 5 block walk, making Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and many other tourist attractions just a bus ride away.
Note: The apartment can be noisy starting from 7am from footsteps in the rental above. If you are a light sleeper or are looking forward to sleeping in on your vacation, this rental may not be right for you.

I was born and raised in San Francisco and am extremely familiar with the city. I reside in the same building as the vacation rental, so I know the neighborhood very well and would be happy to act as a resource for renters. Also, being on site means that any problems that may arise can be addressed in a timely manner.
The Owner purchased this studio in 2002
San Francisco is quite expensive for any type of accommodation. Vivian's studio is modestly priced and it's 30-40 minutes by bus into the city. It's very conveniently located with multiple bus lines within a few minutes walk going to the city, the beach, south or north. Unless you have mobility issues, you won't need a car and you're probably better off without one.
The neighborhood is great. It has a nice suburban feel without having to walk far for anything . There's a medium sized supermarket within 5 minutes walk plus plenty of smaller stores, cafes, restaurants, etc nearby. The wonderful Golden Gate park is only 10 minutes walk away.
Vivian is a great host; she walked us through the studio showing us where everything was, talked us through her rules (which are very reasonable) and gave us good tips on public transport, cafes, etc.
The studio was very clean and looks even nicer than the photos. The kitchen doesn't have an oven or stove. However, with the addition of some microwave safe cooking containers (I left one behind) I was able to cook pasta bolognese for dinner one night and beef tacos another. There is a small toaster oven, a toaster, coffee maker and a kettle (a necessity for making tea!). The fridge is a good size and there is a large water filtering jug which makes the water much nicer for drinking). The bathroom is clean and well appointed with various shampoos, lotions, medicines, etc available that you might need but may not be likely to carry on holidays. The Wi-Fi was reliable and fast - we had 3 phones and 2 tablets, sometimes all running at once and there were no problems. Vivian was happy to print some Alcatraz tour tickets for us that we'd bought online.
The double bed is very comfortable and there are plenty of pillows, blankets, etc. We required 3 beds so Vivian provided a double air bed which I found surprisingly comfortable. The lounge folds out into a single bed however the hinge doesn't flatten out completely so there's a bit of a ridge in the middle - some may find this uncomfortable - if I had a choice, I'd use the airbed and leave the lounge upright.
The neighborhood and the studio were very peaceful and quiet. There was a bit of noise from upstairs when Vivian's family were getting ready for the day or coming home but it was not intrusive in any way.
The outside deck was being re-built while we were there - there was a little bit of noise at times from this but no inconvenience.
My husband and I stayed here for our week long vacation from Florida. The apartment was roomy, comfortable, and cozy. The location was perfect for us as we were looking to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. The 38/38R bus stop was a 3 min walk from the apt., which got us straight into the downtown area within 25 min. There was a coin laundry 2 blocks away and small grocery stores nearby. We even rented a car for 2 days from the Enterprise a few blocks away for much cheaper than in the downtown area. The apartment rental was directly below the family's home with our own private entrance. Prior to booking, Vivian informed me that they had two small children. We are typically early risers and were up by 7am, so the noise level didn't affect us much. For those of you that like to sleep in, this may not be the place for you. Overall, the price point and location of the rental was great and I would recommend staying here.
A must visit when staying here: Land's End (beautiful scenic views of the ocean), Lou's Café (great lunch sandwiches), and Heartbaker (great place to grab AMAZING breakfast sweets)
We stayed in this area of the city in order to visit my sister, who lives just a few blocks away. We found it to be an amazing location, with so much to do and see in Golden Gate Park, and also convenient to grocery stores and good food. We did use the optional garage space, which was helpful for us because we have 2 little kids and didn't want to be searching for parking and walking back after a long day. The studio was well equipped and clean. Vivian is very welcoming, and available to help with questions if you have any. We found this to suit our needs perfectly, and were very grateful to have found it! Highly recommend.
I rented this studio for my friend and I to share during a quick vacation to SF. The photos were very accurate; the property was clean and well maintained; the location was described accurately. I've never stayed in this neighborhood before but it was a great experience. The apartment was peaceful, safe and so very comfortable; the genuine Italian pizza restaurant down the block gave my pal an opportunity to use her rusty Italian skills, to great admiration :-) It was easy to get around from here and the hosts were both kind and unobtrusive. I highly recommend it! I hope to stay here again on a future visit :-)
This is the second time we have stay in this studio. We liked it just as much this time and plan to stay there at least once a year, It is not fancy but very comfortable----great bed, useful kitchen, clean, comfortable seating, good internet service. This year we rented the garage which was a great plus to us.
Vivian is a great hostess and does everything she can to make your stay a good one. Try this place!!! You will like it.
We had a totally wonderful experience visiting San Francisco and this rental property was a big part of it. The studio was spotless and well equipped, located in an interesting and peaceful neighborhood.Vivian was very kind and accommodating, taking the time to help us and provide information on the area. This rental was close to several bus lines and within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and the Golden Gate Park. It was close enough to get into the main areas with a bus trip, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to get a real feel of a typical neighborhood setting. I would highly recommend this property!
