You will truly feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle on this beautiful property. Authentic log cabin is perched on a hill overlooking a 50 acre private lake. Spend your days swimming, fishing (no license required as it is a private lake), canoeing, kayaking, and hiking. Sip your coffee on the dock or in the screened gazebo by the water. Plus - one mile total private frontage on the Rappahannock River (in drier weather a 'headwater' stream in which kids can wade and splash and frolic).
The property is secluded and a true one-of-a-kind find. Three miles to the nearest state road. Without traffic, 1 1/4 hour drive to/from DC.
Lakeside gazebo, deck/dock area, swimming float. Kayaks, canoe.
This is a unique and private retreat. It is so far at the end of the road you will most likely not see anyone else during your stay. The porch is a favorite place for rocking and talking. The shaded picnic area and the campfire pit are wonderful gathering spots.
The gazebo and dock area are special places for kids and adults as well.
I want to thank you very much for guiding us through the rental of this wonderful cabin. You were always upbeat and kind through all my many calls and questions and it turned out to be a wonderful time! We just love Virginia and Warrenton had such a warmth about it...the people there so friendly! My sons just enjoyed themselves so much on the lake, fishing, boating, every minute busy outside. Thank you Gaskins for the use of your cabin...it was just heaven for our young bucks! We will be back soon! There's so much we want to see yet!
The property is breathtaking and incredibly private. We had a wonderful weekend of swimming, kayaking, hiking and floating on tubes on the lake.
If you're traveling with a group of couples as we were, just be warned that the bedrooms situations differ quite a bit in quality - the master bedroom is very nice with it's own bathroom, but otherwise you'll have to share much more basic and less private sleeping quarters with others - in either the loft or the guest house. But really, no one should come here to sleep (I slept two nights outside in the hammock) but rather to enjoy the quiet and the privacy.
We spent 4 days at the cabin. My sons and husband caught so many fish. They were biting as soon as you put your line in. We played board games at night. Not easy getting a 15 yr old to do that! We just love both rope swings; my arms are a little sore. Great fun! I haven't slept this well in a long time. This visit was our 4th and we'll be back again. Thank you so much!
We enjoyed our stayed so much!
It rained and drizzled the whole time we stayed there (2 nights 3 days in Mid May) But we walked around the lake, hiked in the woods, grilled, and so much more!
The guest house was very cute. 1 full size bed and 2 singles (bunk bed) with a toilet and a sink were just enough! We had a trouble turning on the water for the guest house, we found the main faucet outside the main cabin.
The lake was amazing and despite of rain, the view is gorgeous! There are enough life jackets for all sizes and going out on a boat was fun for the kids! We caught fish (don't know what kind) but we grilled them outside. one of them had a baby lobster in the stomach, good to know you can catch lobsters there.
The whole time we stayed we never saw any neighbors.
Linsey the owner is very helpful, I have no idea how many times I bugged her with tons of questions, but she responded really fast and made us feel at home from the beginning to the end. Nobody wanted to go home, kids cried at the end, and we have already planned our next trip in September!
We came here for a weekend getaway over Mother's Day and had a fantastic time. Getting back to the cabin was a little tricky because there had been so much rain the week before we came, so the gravel road leading to the cabin gate was very bumpy. But we made it! The view from the cabin over the lake is spectacular. Everything is very well appointed and comfortable. This may not be the place to bring elderly people though- the stairs leading to the master bedroom downstairs are pretty steep and the ladder leading to the upstairs bedroom would definitely be hard for some people. Our group was fine though, and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We loved enjoying our morning coffee on the porch overlooking the lake- such a great way to start the day! My niece had a great time playing on the swing and fishing in the lake. She even caught a pretty big fish without any bait! We would have loved to take the kayaks out but we ran out of time. Lots of wildlife too- we saw a bear, lots of deer, the resident groundhog and lots of birds- including a bald eagle! Lindsey was very responsive and helpful with everything we needed. We can't wait to come back, but next time we'll stay at least 4 nights.
We had so much fun here. What a magical place. All I can think about is when can my family return.
The cabin was beautiful!! The lake and property were also just as fabulous.. it was a little cold but we still enjoyed everything ... The kids had a wonderful time, and everyone wants to go back again.. we just cant say enough about how we loved it!! thank you so much..
