Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms (1 is loft) 2 1/2 baths, sleeps 6. (1 queen bed, 2 double beds)

You will truly feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle on this beautiful property. Authentic log cabin is perched on a hill overlooking a 50 acre private lake. Spend your days swimming, fishing (no license required as it is a private lake), canoeing, kayaking, and hiking. Sip your coffee on the dock or in the screened gazebo by the water. Plus - one mile total private frontage on the Rappahannock River (in drier weather a 'headwater' stream in which kids can wade and splash and frolic).

The property is secluded and a true one-of-a-kind find. Three miles to the nearest state road. Without traffic, 1 1/4 hour drive to/from DC.

Lakeside gazebo, deck/dock area, swimming float. Kayaks, canoe.

This is a unique and private retreat. It is so far at the end of the road you will most likely not see anyone else during your stay. The porch is a favorite place for rocking and talking. The shaded picnic area and the campfire pit are wonderful gathering spots.

The gazebo and dock area are special places for kids and adults as well.

What a perfect setting for the final leg of our trip to Gettysburg an the Washington DC area. Pictures do not do this place justice - it is absolutely beautiful here! Saw many deer, birds, a fox and a groundhog. Many thanks for sharing your piece of paradise!

Amazing property, amazing vacation.

If you're needing to get away from it all, this is the place. The cabin is beyond adorable, and the lake is utterly fantastic. We had some rain during our four day stay, but we had come prepared with games and still managed to have a wonderful time. We did get to swim in the lake twice, the water was clear and amazingly warm! The loft is fun, the downstairs area is beautiful and the kitchen has everything you need, just bring your food! We will definitely be back!

Great cabin with beautiful lake view.

  • 4 of 5

It was perfect for us for the weekend. If you are looking for something secluded, this is it. It sits at the end of the road with a view and access to a beautiful lake. All the comforts and conveniences of home. Most positive aspect is it's remote location and great access to the lake for fishing, swimming and kayaking or just relaxing in a quiet spot. One negative would be the pull down stairs to the loft sleeping area. The house sleeps six in double beds, but the two in the loft would be for close family or friends. Otherwise for two healthy couples this cabin is perfect. Kitchen is very nice and well supplied. All appliances are very nice and updated. Outdoor gas grill is large and works very well. My wife and I would recommend this cabin.

Great overall experience. No satellite tv as advertised was our only minor drawback. Beautiful property. Well equipped. Great place to relax and get away after seeing sites. Loved it.

Fishing report..and other things

  • 5 of 5

The fishing was awesome. The lake runs 16' deep and the bank fishing was great. I tried for catfish, but had no luck. Another property owner said catfish are rare, so I felt better about my attempts on both nights. We caught bass, crappie, and bluegill. I also saw some 24" carp floating along the banks. The water is very clear and the equipment at the pier is in great shape. There is also well water access at the pier, so cleaning off is a breeze.

I brought my own kayaks and fishing gear and there was a road down to the pier and launching the boats was easy.

The house is very nice, however if you have a fear of steep stairs and attic ladders, this house is not for you.

We will be renting this place again next year!

It was better than advertised. Our family spent three days on some very beautiful property that literally needs to be seen to be believed.
