About the property

ALOHA AND WELCOME TO OUR PIECE OF PARADISE!

Hale Luana (House to relax and idle away the hours) is located 3 miles above Kailua Kona and overlooks Kailua Bay and Kailua town. Maka Nui Tui ('Tui' as we like to refer to it) is our 3+ acre property ideally located 1100 feet above sea level containing Hale Luana along with the owners main residence. Tui is private, quiet, convenient, and most relaxing. Surrounded by tropical plants, flowers, and fruit. The fruit is yours for the picking when available. You enter through iron gates and drive up the palm tree lined driveway passing the main house to find Hale Luana.

Hale Luana will be a perfect retreat from the daily sightseeing, beaching, shopping, and numerous other activities available on our wonderful island of Hawaii. Tropical breezes maintain a perfect temperature day and night. No need for air conditioning, but ceiling fans are in all rooms if you feel the need.

Now that you've completed your long trip to the islands, you can relax in your most comfortable, hawaiian decor Hale Luana. Sip on a glass of wine or tropical drink as you watch the sunset from your private lanai and also from the infinity pool. Marvel at the spectacular view of Kailua Bay and as the sun sets, delight in the stars above and twinkling lights of quaint Kailua town below.

Awake in the morning to the sounds of the local birds and rustling tropical leaves. Enjoy your first cup of Kona coffee on your lanai before embarking on the adventures before you. Whether it be sightseeing, swimming, snorkeling, shopping, golfing, or any of the many activities available, or just hanging at the pool. Hale Luana is so very convenient to everything to see or do on the big island. Most are within a 10 to 20 minute drive.

We've tried to prepare Hale Luana for you're pleasure and comfort. We are positive, your vacation here will be one of the most memorable you've experienced. Please contact us by email if you have any questions. We look forward to your visit.

About Barb Poston

Ray and I met in 1960 on Oahu, where he was a Marine stationed at Kaneohe MCAS and I was attending Kailua HS, as my father was also a Marine. We eventually married and moved to Virginia, where Ray is from originally. We always wanted to return to Hawaii and did, in 1985, and fell in love with Kona. Well, we bought a home, sold it in 2005 and built on Maka Nui Tui(loosely translated ('WAY TOO MUCH view'). Shortly after building our main house we completed Hale Luana. We wanted to share our happiness with as many folks as possible. What a wonderful place to live and sooo convenient to everything. We hope you can visit with us and realize the true feeling of living in paradise. Mahalo, Ray & Barb

Tremendous !!!

If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, home away from home on the Big Island-this is the place for you! The property is spacious and well-appointed. The views are never-ending especially from the pool and lanai. If you love fruit-there is an endless supply. Barb and Ray could not have been more gracious and hospitable during our stay. We look forward to our next visit. MAHALO!

Big Island Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Kona. The guesthouse is an excellent accommodation with everything you need for convenience and comfort (as an fyi, it's a little tight with 6 people, but PERFECT for 4). It's minutes from downtown and it has a beautiful view of the ocean off the deck. I highly recommend this property and I want to say thanks to Barb and Ray who were excellent hosts. We would definitely stay here again!

Almost Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The "ohana" (guest house) is absolutely gorgeous; stunning view; everything anyone could want. The guest house is large, well furnished, the kitchen ample and user friendly - stocked with everything one could need. The infinity pool was delightful and the view is to die for. Why "almost perfect"? The only negative of the whole property are the coqui frogs, which are obviously not the fault of the owners! But when the weather is wet, they are rather loud from dusk to dawn. If you are a light sleeper, this could be a problem, but most nights they weren't too bad. Other than that, the property is extremely private and very quiet. The location is also perfect - just minutes away from Kona and grocery shopping. We will definitely go back!

Gorgeous, quiet, relaxing, private paradise

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic property and we'd return in a heartbeat. The unit has two bedrooms with big showers, a nice living room / dining area, outdoor table, and grill. Infinity pool is amazing and views are stunning. Very close to Kona, so you get seclusion and incredible vantage point, and yet can be down in town (by car) in 7 or 8 minutes.

Impressive 180 degree ocean views, privacy, and security

  • 5 of 5

We had a very enjoyable visit and did not want to leave. This second story caseta has everything needed for a great vacation. It is secluded, yet close to shopping and restaurants in Kona. We're already planning our next visit.
