Located at the waterfront just outside the Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor area is this charming
two bedroom log home. It has a fully furnished kitchen, front master bedroom with king bed and
second bedroom with two single beds. Porch on two sides of the house, front side is a covered
section as seen in pictures. The house includes washer/dryer, dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave
oven and gas barbeque on the porch. There is Dish Network satellite access and DVD/VCR capabilities.
Bar Harbor is about a 20 minute drive and the National Park entrance is about 15 minutes. There is also a free bus service available less than a mile from the cottage that connects to many of the locations in the Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park area. Sorry but no smokers and no pets.
Maine Lodging Tax of 8% will be added to the rental price. Cleaning fee and refundable security deposit required in addition to rental.
This cottage is beautifully maintained, clean and attractively furnished. There is a large lawn and meadow that leads down to a very large expanse of beach. The view from the porch looks over the lawn and water. The view from the master bedroom is of the water and a spectacular sunrise. You don't even have to get out of bed to see it The cottage is shining clean, with comfortable beds and a fire place in case it turns cool. While one can see the bridge that crosses from the main land to Bar Harbor island the traffic sounds did not disturb us. In fact, being close to the bridge meant that we had a very quick and easy ride to everything in Bar Harbor. We had a special treat/activity of going to Wild Iris Farm in Bar Harbor and learning how to drive a cart pulled by a Shire horse. (The kind seen in Downton Abbey.) If you don't want to drive a cart yourself, you can enjoy a ride in down town Bar Harbor in carriage pulled by horses from Wild Iris Farm. We had a wonderful time with lots of things, even when the rain came. The cottage was very cozy when the fog rolled in. This place is a must stay. One final thing. Sue is great. I left a number of things behind in the closet. She arranged to have her cleaning lady send the clothes off the very next day. I will definitely stay here when I come to Bar Harbor next.
My husband and I spent a week here in late August and fell in love with the Acadia area! This home has all the amenities, including a washer/dryer and was spotless. The kitchen was well-stocked and we enjoyed the privacy, yet convenience to Bar Harbor/Acadia. At night, the only sounds are the lapping of waves on the private beach. We even cooked fresh lobsters over the firepit down by the water. We intend on returning next summer and highly recommend this idyllic spot.
We loved this property and would not hesitate to stay there again. We've been in the area before and therefore knew we did not want to be in the thick of Bar Harbor for this trip. This house in Trenton was perfect. Gorgeous views and very peaceful surroundings. We loved the ability to get to either the Eastern or Western side of Acadia and Mount Desert Island with ease without having to drive all the way around one side or the other (going from the Eastern Side to the Western side can be a super long drive if you're camping at the campground within the Park). There's also easy access to Route 1 for a trip out to the Schoodic Peninsula or even out to the West Quoddy Lighthouse or Campobello Island. The house is in great condition and is very well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked with just about every utensil you might need. We enjoyed eating our dinners outside on the deck and there's even a firepit to use at night if you so desire. For those with families, it's definitely family friendly and our 3 year old had no problems while there. We absolutely loved our stay there and would absolutely consider it again should we come back to Bar Harbor and Acadia.
The cabin was perfectly situated to enjoy everything Mt Desert Island has to offer. It was so nice to be able to go home at the end of a day of exploring.
The cabin was clean and the spacious yard lead down to a neat rocky beach. The fire pit might be my favorite part but I love s'mores!
We would definitely recommend staying here.
Now this is how you should spend a vacation near Acadia! We had an incredible week at the log home and we can't wait to go back! This house is as close to the water as you can get and it made for an incredible stay. It's the type of house that has that has that "home feel" that makes you want to spend as much time here as you do exploring Acadia. The size is perfect for a small family. The bedrooms are right near each other and both have incredible views to wake up to.
The house has everything you'll need and we in fact cooked almost all of our meals here on the trip. However, if you want to eat out, the Trenton Lobster Pound is literally two minutes away (although we're bigger fans of C-Ray Lobster).
We did not have any issues at all with traffic noise and we were there just as the busy season was picking up. The area around the house is quiet and the porch is amazing. As a bonus, there's a fire pit and plenty of space to run around outside. Being right on the water, at low tide I was able to take my daughter out on beach and go seashell hunting.
You're as close to Mt Desert island as you can get without actually being on it, and we loved the location. I'm partial to this area since it's easier to get to stores that not as insane as the ones in Bar Harbor. Getting to Acadia from here is quick and easy and a lot less stressful than Bar Harbor at the height of the season (Tip: If you're going to Bar Harbor, check the cruise ship schedule to see if any are docking that day - you do not want to be there if one (or more) cruise ships are in).
The owners were amazing to deal with and helped us with everything we needed.
We cannot recommend this place enough for those who are looking for a truly unique getaway in a great location which is also incredibly peaceful.
One final recommendation, everyone tends to go to Jordan Pond house for the popovers, but if you want a calmer dining experience, eat at the Asticou Inn where you can also get popovers (the restaurant is run by the group that used to run the Jordan Pond house) with service that's a thousand times better (and has a great view of Southwest Harbor).
Beautiful little secluded cabin super close to everything (national park entrances, Bar Harbor, grocery stores). It's on a huge piece of property right on the water overlooking the bay with the mountains of Acadia in the background. The building itself was very cozy and well equipped. The porch and the fire pit by the water were perfect places to relax after exploring Mount Desert Island. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and maybe will stay again someday.
My sons and I absolutely loved staying here. It was the perfect "home base" for exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor. The fire pit by the water was a huge hit with my boys and we did fires and s'mores almost every night. We also enjoyed being able to explore the waterfront during the different tides. The boys were amazed at the low tide and being able to walk so far out. Definitely bring water shoes/old sneakers/boots for this activity. My boys found a starfish that we enjoyed as a "pet" for a few days...they built him a little watery habitat. Lots of other treasures to be found as well. The army of geese that hung around took some getting used to, but the boys also loved running after them and making them fly away (again, need old shoes to navigate the droppings).
The cabin itself was perfect for us, beautifully kept and very comfortable. Loved sipping coffee and reading on the porch swing. Kitchen was well-stocked, we cooked and grilled fairly often, the dishwasher and washer/dryer were great.
The owners took good care of us and left a little welcome basket which was very nice. Sue was very responsive to my emails and helping me get the lay of the land. Their recommendations for local attractions were great.
We went to the Chart Room for dinner which was delicious and had wonderful views.
Jordan Pond House was so good we went twice- once after hiking the pond and the Bubbles and once after biking the carriage roads. Perfect refreshment after these activities.
The Trenton Lobster Pound was excellent. Delicious lobster and mussels and blueberry pie! We took it "home" and ate down by the water and fire for a perfect family evening.
We fell in love with this area and will most definitely be back. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who likes to have a little "getaway" with their getaway. Perfect for small families and kids...couples too. Private, quiet, peaceful. Just wonderful. My sons are already talking about "next year".
LL Bean has a local free bus hop on hop off that you can take from a few places not too far away. They allow you to take your bikes as well and they drop you off in the park. You can Kayak or canoe right from our beach and there are several rental companies that deliver right to the house. We can sit on our porch and on a coming tide quite often see seals swimming up into the bay.
