About the property

Townhome, 2 Bedrooms + Sofa bed for 1, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

"Mi Casa, Su Casa." CASA DE BANDERAS welcomes you to share our home away from home, and to make it "su casa" for your time here. Relax and unwind in the SERENITY of your own spacious, well-appointed townhome complete with your PRIVATE, OCEAN FACING POOL. View gorgeous sunrise and enjoy peaceful evening views of Bucerias and Puerto Vallarta. Watch the oyster divers from your lawn chair while soaking up the sun or wander the beaches. The grey whales, December to mid-March, are amazing.

Our casa is located a half an hour drive north of Puerto Vallarta, RIGHT ON THE OCEAN, halfway between the small Mexican towns of Bucerias and La Cruz. You can walk to either town at LOW tide on the beach in about 35 minutes depending on how fast you walk.

Experience the cultural best of both worlds. Discover the quaint, small-town shopping and dining in Bucerias and La Cruz with quick access to sights and attractions of the famous sun-drenched resort of Puerto Vallarta, a mere 30-minute drive away. Plus a short half-hour drive to the surfing town of Sayulita. Fabulous beach days await!

Follow your marble staircase upstairs to the master suite with a QUEEN Bed, carved wooden writing desk, and private, ALL MARBLE Bathroom. Hair dryers available in both bathrooms. The guest suite upstairs has the flexibility of two twin-sized beds which can be combined into a KING. There is a double-bed sized sofa bed on the main level in the living room suitable for one adult or 2 small children. A crib can be arranged for the little one for a small fee.

Both bedrooms are tastefully decorated in MEXICAN DECOR and have sliding doors that open out to a balcony overlooking YOUR OWN POOL and the Bay of Banderas. So brew your coffee, relax and enjoy the morning sunrise or the evening lights of Puerto Vallarta with your margarita or other favorite beverage.

On the main floor, a wall of sliders in the living room and dining room open directly onto the covered patio and the pool area, which fronts the rocky beach. Sandy beach practically next door. A PROPANE GRILL is outside for those great barbeques. Dine ocean-side on our patio or walk down the stone steps at low tide for a stroll. A second bathrooms conveniently located on this floor along with the sofa-bed couch for those who prefer not to negotiate stairs. Watch your FLAT SCREEN TV with satellite TV service that gets some American channels. There is a CD/MP3 player with some CDs provided, or bring your MP3 player and listen to your own tunes.

COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST FOOD, soda and beer await you in the fridge and a LAUNDRY ROOM adjoins the well-equipped kitchen. Weekly MAID SERVICE enhances your vacation, while the pool and yard are impeccably maintained for you. A beach umbrella, beach towels, hand cooler, and cooler on wheels will enhance your excursions to the best beaches in Mexico. Don't forget the sunscreen!

A reloadable CELL PHONE is provided with 200 pesos of minutes. Wireless/wired INTERNET available in the casa so bring your laptop and keep in touch. Internet cafes nearby if you prefer. A rental car is useful but not critical, as the bus stop is about 4 blocks away. Just flag the bus down on the highway. Buses run frequently, are inexpensive and are quite an education in local culture. Taxi phone number is programmed into the complimentary cell phone.

Enjoy sightseeing tours and activities such as, surfing, horseback riding, whale watching, fishing, zip lining through the jungle canopy and mountain biking, to name a few. Our BILINGUAL property manager is a wealth of information and only a phone call away. Ask us about arranging a sport fishing, whale watching or snorkeling charter. We can also arrange for an authentic MEXICAN HOME-COOKED MEAL to be waiting for you upon your arrival (or more days if you wish) at a reasonable cost. Or if you wish a massage, that can be arranged also, in the privacy of the casa.

About Nita

We are two families of friends who bought this wonderful townhouse together. We use it frequently throughout the year and love to share it with guests when we are not there.

Nita purchased this townhome in 2006

Why Nita chose La Cruz de Huanacaxtle

We love the view, the privacy, the tranquility, and especially our own pool! We are close enough to walk the beach to both Bucerias and La Cruz AT LOW TIDE, yet we are far enough away that we don't have beach vendors and crowds. For the tourist experience, Puerto Vallarta is only a half hour south by car. For a quaint beach/surfing town experience, Sayulita is a 20-minute drive north. We couldn't ask for a better location for all that we love in Mexico.

What makes this townhome unique

Right on the ocean and the views are amazing! Especially love our private pool and ocean-side patio.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We very much enjoyed our stay at the casa. It had everything we needed and more. The pool was fantastic. We spent most of our time in it, just soaking up the sun.

Close and delightful get-a-way trip to Mexico

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here October 27 through Nov 3, 2013. We loved our stay at this property. The townhouse was clean and well-maintained. The manager provided excellent customer service. We saw many interesting birds from the pool every day. We really enjoyed participating in Halloween celebrations and visiting the town of Sayulita for the Days of the Dead celebration, to see authentic Mexican dancing and community decorations. I would highly recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Another highlight was a visit to the Alta Vista petroglyphs, not easy to find but definitely worth the effort. And, of course, Puerto Vallarta is a must visit to see a larger thriving Mexican community.

This trip was a delightful get-a-way!

Everything you could want!

  • 4 of 5

We so enjoyed our week-long stay at Casa Banderas. The special amenities provided really made a difference. Close enough to walk to Bucerias to get our exercise in!

Loved: The views, the pool, the "starter" food, the local cell phone, VANESSA & ALAIN, the quiet!!!

Shower head in the upstairs bath needs to be replaced - not a deal breaker as there is another shower downstairs. Cobwebs are plentiful - again, not a deal breaker

Vanessa was so very helpful during our stay! You have a gem of a property manager (I'm sure you know!)

The condo we stayed at was wonderful, the view of Banderas bay ,you could see Bucerius and Vallarta.

  • 5 of 5

Vanessa gave great cars in keeping the unit running fine and got people out to refill the gas and correct the heat problem and the dryer. I loved that we cooked many of our meals but also found some incredible restrauants (Langosta in La Cruz). Thank you for a very wonderful week.

NOT SAFE

  • 1 of 5

Casa De Banderas was a nice place to stay the first time 9 years ago. Thinking the experience would be good, we went there again. This time, we were apparently drugged. I passed out right away and therefore received less of a dose than my wife. That was a saving factor. I woke up to a commotion in the living room. She had been stripped naked. A naked man was also in the Casa with his arms around her. The property manager, a woman, was passed out on the floor foaming at the mouth. I was successful in getting my wife away from the man and kicking him out. We found out later that the man had been in one of the bedrooms, but had not found our valuables in the other bedroom. We barricaded ourselves in the home for the night and also contacted the owners. The owners were completely shocked as well. The next morning the owners refunded our money and we left, never to return. This is not the owner’s fault. We told them in writing that they were not liable. The actions of the property manager are culpable at the least and may have actually been in collusion with what happened. Being apparently targeted for robbery and rape with the possible involvement of the property manager is something we do not want anyone else to ever have to endure. We do not recommend this place to anyone at all. The general area where the Casa is located is also called into question. To learn more about the dangers in the area, visit the US State Department for their travel advisory.

Owner's Response: The casa and its local manager and staff have had a stellar reputation for the entire 9 years we have worked together. We will never know exactly what happened on the night referenced in this review, as the guests and the manager have very different stories. Apparently, a bottle of tainted tequila of unknown origin is to blame for the ill effects on everyone present. Rather than assigning blame or arguing about whether these extreme accusations were true, when the owners were contacted by the guests, we did everything we could to ensure the guests’ health and well-being. At their request, we refunded their money so they could move elsewhere. Our manager has received rave reviews from numerous guests without any complaints. The man negatively referenced in the review is the manager’s brother, a family man with a wife and child who helps out now and then. We cannot imagine him engaging in the alleged activities. If you scroll down to the other reviews of our property, you will see compliments like: “The property manager was prompt and efficient;” “Property manager is excellent and was attentive to any of our issues;” and “The owners and their local manager have always been very helpful and go above and beyond in making sure the arrangements go smoothly.” Similar compliments have been extended to the manager's brother. To our knowledge, we haven’t hosted these particular guests before. When we learned of the issue raised here, an owner flew down to assess the situation and confirm that this was a once-in-a-lifetime, inexplicable occurrence. Please be assured that all is well at our casa and it remains well managed. Our property manager makes sure everything is ready for our guests before their visit. In an abundance of caution, we now have instructed her and her staff not to come to the casa except to perform scheduled house cleanings (by a female housekeeper) or external grounds maintenance, unless requested by the guests or otherwise arranged in advance. In the past, the manager routinely stopped by to greet new guests and make them feel at home, and she still is happy to do so upon request. Finally, there is no concerning travel advisory for the state of Nayarit (where the casa is located). You can view travel advisories at the US Department of State website, travel.state.gov. Please contact us if you have any questions, as the above review certainly is troubling.

Love Bucerias

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Casa for one month which flew by way too fast. The private pool was the highlight for me as I spent many hours in it. The view was amazing. It was a very quiet place and very relaxing. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was very nice having a welcoming package of food and wine. Having a prepaid phone was also a plus. I would love to stay there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review. Yes, our pool is very well cared for and one of my favorite places. I love to float on the air mattress, sipping a drink and gazing at the mesmerizing ocean. I especially love watching the night lights in the towns nearby and of Puerto Vallarta in the distance.

Second Time

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed at Casa de Banderas and obviously we like or why go back? Very quiet (except when there is loud music across the bay), private and comfortable. If you are adverse to staying in gigantic condo developments - this is the place to stay in Bucerias.
