Gorgeous and comforable
Beautiful, luxurious, well-equipped villa. The photographs and description were very accurate. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The owner, Gregory, was very friendly and helpful. We ate almost every evening in the tavern at the nearby hamlet of Maza; it was the best food that we had while we were on Crete. The nearby beach areas on the coast are rather touristy, but the villa itself is in a splendid location up on the mountain. It was the perfect mixture of privacy and being close enough to amenities as long as you had a car. Near to the villa, there was also a nice walking path along olive groves and even some trees higher up the mountain. The only drawback is that we had a hard time finding the villa the first night because we had arrived at night in the dark. Although close to the National Road, note that the last part of the drive is on an unlit dirt road and rather steep. During the day, it's reasonably easy to find. I would definitely recommend this villa to friends and we hope to stay here again in the future.
We spent a wonderful two weeks at Villa Petra. The owner Gregory was a helpful host: gave us plenty of advice about where to visit the area, and we got to experience the beaches and foods of the region. Our group also spent a few days lazying by the private pool. The property offers everything you need, the kitchen is great, there was plenty of room for our group of six to enjoy. Looking at the pictures now, we certainly wish we were there again...
Truly a spectacular stay!
We had a wonderful stay at the villa, from the minute we arrived we felt at home. The villa was unlike any other rental property that we have stayed. It was fully equipped with all the amenities of a home ? with plenty of space ? and great surroundings which contributes to the relaxing experience of staying at the villa
Wonderful secluded villa, homely and comfortable
We felt very much at home for the 9 days we were at Villa Petra. Booking direct with Gregory, the owner, couldn't have been more straightforward. Location is secluded, quiet and has fantastic views of the surrounding olive groves, hills and mountains. It's ideally placed to explore other areas of Crete and 5 min drive from the pretty small town of Vrysses, which had everything we needed from a bakery, supermarket with butcher, petrol station, cafes and shops. Maza itself is a tiny hamlet with a lovely square at the centre which has a great taverna run by Kostas and Voula - two extremely welcoming hosts who go out of their way to make you feel part of the community and dish up tasty rustic dishes, most of the produce they grow/rear themselves. There is another taverna M Maza, about a 2 min walk from the villa, run by Elena who cooks delicious local produce and even delivered a pre-ordered hot lunch to the villa one day so we didn't have to lift a finger to enjoy the fresh, wonderful meal. Her aubergine 'dip' (it's probably called something specific but I don't know what) was one of the best things I tasted the whole time I was there and the lamb she cooked was tender and packed with flavour. The villa itself is perfectly laid out, everything has been well thought out. It was very clean, and really felt homely - with lots of old furniture, crockery, plenty of glasses, plates, saucepans, utensils and all the bits and pieces you need when cooking or just relaxing. There were even mosquito plug-ins all round the place, washing powder and dishwasher tabs, candles, a few games, a giant inflatable ring in the pool, plenty of towels and good bedlinen. The well-cared-for potted plants all around the garden were beautiful. It did not feel bare and unloved like some other rented villas you come across. Beds were good: firm but not uncomfortable, bathrooms were lovely and a pleasure to use. Gregory, the owner, was always easy to reach by phone or email if ever we wanted anything and he was extremely friendly and welcoming and happy to go out of his way to meet your needs or advise. We loved the villa so much, we found it quite hard to tear ourselves away and spent far too much time just lazing around in and out of the pool, cooking, listening to music, just enjoying the whole feel of the place. We would highly recommend the villa - I would say it's both great for a group, a family or for couples wanting to get away from it all. I'd definitely return.
What a wonderful place to be !
was so clean and had very little cloride in it.
Very romantic and cozy
We had a grate vacation in the villa we enjoy the privacy and the pool , we loved to cook in the green kitchen , also the owner is very kind
Golf: Surround the villa and set into the lawn is a sparkling blue mosaic tiled pool measuring 8m x 4m, with a small children’s pool at one end. The village square in Maza is just a short stroll away and boasts a taverna and ancient Byzantine church. For wonderful yogurt, day to day shopping and a few simple tavernas the village of Vrisses is just 2 km away, whilst for a day on the beach and a really wide choice of tavernas, Georgioupolis is the place to head for.
