This incredibly charming traditional 2700 square foot Hawaiian home is ideally located only one house back from the ocean in the heart of Kailua. A dream location, near Kailua Beach Park and walking distance to Island Snow and the famous Buzz's Steak house with white sand just a 1 minute stroll down a private access on this quiet private beachside street. Newly decorated tropical furnishings add to this serene island oasis, with a spacious modern kitchen stocked to satisfy any cook’s pleasure. Enjoy this ranch style home with multiple sliding doors that completely open to the swimming pool and huge private tropical garden with mountain views. Extra amenities include a hot water outdoor shower and BBQ lanai deck just off the kitchen. Common areas are cooled by plenty of ceiling fans with air conditioning available in main house and all bedrooms for comfortable sleeping when the weather is not perfect. Secure, quiet and very private, this home’s open design and lanais are perfect for hours of entertainment for adults and kids. There are two master suites with king beds and private bathrooms, one medium size bedroom with a queen bed and smaller bedroom with a full size bed they both share common bathroom. The house easily sleeps 6 adults and a few kids. Soak up the suns rays while listening to tranquil ocean sounds or float in the pool under incredible star-filled night skies. This is the perfect Hawaiian home and a perfect location for a friends and family vacation! Our home also includes a dining table that comfortably seats 8, a two car garage with additional parking in the driveway, large TV in the living area, coffee maker, cookware and dish ware, hairdryers in each bathroom, and fresh linens and towels. The outside space is perfect for lounging. With a teak table for 4 is the ideal place to enjoy a relaxing brunch or romantic dinner. The pool is small and fun, great for kids.

Welcome to my beach home in Kailua! I was born in California so Hawaii has always been an easy spot to come and visit. After traveling here many times I finally decided to make this my second home! I visit 4 or 5 times a year and always wish I could stay longer. I currently live in La Jolla California so it's not a bad second place to home base but I still prefer Kailua. Lihikai is set up as my personal residence so the furniture and appliances are nicer than most rentals. I hope you love it as much as I do and find a special memory to save each time you visit.

Love Kailua beach and the community! My house was built over 5o years ago by a famous Hawaiian architect, this home is deceiving from the outside but once you walk through the front door, you'll find a tropical oasis tucked away on this beachside private street! Only a few homes have sold in the past 30 years on this street. Once someone gets a home here they tend to keep it forever. You simply cannot beat the location. It's close to everything yet very private! You will find Kailua is an easy town to navigate and my home is smack in the middle of the best part of beach yet close to town as well. Everything you may need is 5 minutes away, from groceries to restraunts to shopping, kailua has it all. I love the fact that I can be on the beach in a minute, head over to the famous Kalapawi market and back at the house if I need something all in just a few minutes. I spend a lot of days paddle surfing, kiteboarding, swimming or just lounging in the pool or reading book on the beach, it's the perfect house for that. We have set up the home to feel very tropical and Hawaiian style. Alot of the furniture was imported from Fiji and the open floor plan really lends itself to using the outdoors from the cooking grill deck to the pool lanai and outdoor shower, you will not want to leave.
What makes this House unique
I am an avid water person and love to paddle, dive, kite surf, snorkel, swim or just lounge on the beach or in the solar heated pool. The location of this house is perfect if you love the beach and want some peace and quiet! No street noise, just birds and ocean. I love taking outdoor showers also so I built a nice beach style hot and cold shower on the side of the house! The way the house is arranged makes you love it the minute you walk in! There is an open comfortable feel and great vibe that says Hawaii. It's definitely not a new house so it has its quirks and creaks but I know you'll love it as much as I do!

The Perfect Place
I have rented VRBO and Air BnB's all over the world and have never stayed in the same place twice. I do this because I like to try new places. This house is the exception, and I just returned from second visit. I also have been to Hawaii over 20 times, but I don't think I will go anywhere else the next time I visit. This house, its location, and Kailua are perfect. Both times we traveled with a large party including my three young children. The location of the house to the best beach in Hawaii is fantastic. You step out into the quiet cul de sac and travel down the short and delightful path to the beach. The house provides beach chairs, boogie boards, coolers (although we found it easier to take the short walk home to eat). The beach is so long and beautiful (approximately 2.5 miles). I enjoy running and ran the length of the beach nearly every day. There is also a nearby bike path for a longer run or walk to another beach that is beautiful too. The kids loved the short walk to Island Snow for a daily shave ice. The same mall has pizza and kayak rentals. There is a nice steakhouse Buzz's that is also a short walk. Kailua town proper is 1 mile from the house and has many restaurants. It has a Whole Foods, Foodland, and several specialty grocery/wine stores in the same little area. The Thursday night farmer's market is fantastic, with music, local farmers, and a wide variety of food vendors (sushi sliders, Pho from the Pig and the Lady, island fare). There are several great hiking trails nearby, and it seems like everything else is 1/2 hour to 45 minutes away (airport, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, North Shore). The house itself is a 60's style beach bungalow, that has been updated with a lightened interior. It's design is great for large parties, allowing for people to have removed quite spaces and comfortable shared spaces. The pool is lovely. It is heated (which is hard to find), has a relaxing fountain sound when the kids aren't having a blast in it, and is bigger than it appears in the pictures. The table in front of the pool is shaded and perfect for meals during the day. The yard is beautifully landscaped with tropical flowers. John is helpful, easy to deal with and very responsive. This is a perfect place for a relaxing vacation

Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a beautiful house
Our first impression was one of being welcomed in a spacious house that had the inviting touches just so. It was after dark when we arrived, and the TV was illuminated to the Island channel and we saw the little amenity basket with the house information placed conveniently for us to see.
This is a special house, open plan and built in the 1970's so the hallways are large, and the rooms comfortable and restful. Have no fear though, the appliances are convenient and modern! John, the caretaker was very helpful, friendly and kindly lent us his fiery umbrella for the extent of our stay.
We were not blessed with sunny weather, all the locals agreed it was a strange winter. As an aside, we did have the 'luck' of witnessing a tropical downpour accompanied with lots of thunder and lightning one night, and did worry about a flash flood (since we all had the alerts on our smartphones). Perhaps this is a testament to the construction of the house, but the drainage system worked very well!
Despite the cloudy weather, the pool and the beach were well utilized by us, and I have no qualms in saying that this vacation was one of the best in recent memory. A large part of that was because the room layout allowed for three families (8 people including two young children) to enjoy the space without feeling crowded or disturbed.
This property is also within a leisurely 20 minute walking distance to the town on Kailua and we enjoyed this walk several times during our stay, The household booklet gives you some tips and guides for some of the stores.
We had two cars, one parked in the garage and the other by the entrance. This gave the three families freedom to move about the island as they pleased. Most places were at most a 40 minute drive, and we used this to enjoy many towns and beaches on Oahu. At the end however, we did enjoy the one just out the back the best! The winds were brisk, bringing hosts of kiteboarders out for us to watch while we picnicked there. The water was cool and just wavy enough to boogie board with some excitement!
Before even leaving I was contemplating another stay in this little oasis of peace and calm. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
Beautiful setting and tasteful decor
We were a family of 8 aged 4-75. We all had a wonderful time. The property was perfect for the younger ones to play ball and the older ones to do yoga on the grass. Proximity to a nearly private beach along a sand path was another bonus. We certainly hope to return!
This was the perfect place for our family!
We all had private space and many places to be together. There were lots of pool toys and we really appreciated the fitted life vest for our granddaughter. The beach was super close and not crowded. Fun to watch the kite surfers later in the afternoons. The house is well stocked with anything you will need. Furnishings and decor very nice and comfortable. We highly recommend this house! Aloha!
Love this house! Best location in Kailua
We’ve been to Kailua on several occasions and this by far was the best house and location we’ve stayed at. Private, quiet street and super close to the beach. We walked to Buzz’s steak house and Island snow is around the corner. The house was really clean and if you enjoy cooking, the kitchen was fully stocked with all you would need. It was nice to have the pool and it was solar heated! We will definitely book his house again, the owners obviously take pride in the home as it was really well maintained.
The best location, and a great home!
We came to Hawaii with another family. We had 4 adults, and 3-14 year old boys, and a 9 year old boy. The house was laid out perfectly for our families. Everyone had a bed, and the adults had privacy. The older boys could run into town for a shaved ice, or run down to the beach in less than 3 minutes. The pool was a huge hit for all of us. The house had everything you needed for beach days, pool days, or just hanging around the house days. If we are ever available to come back, we would DEFINITELY be contacting John the owner. I have already given the information to the house to 2 different friends since we have been back. Thanks again!!
