Limon Province Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Casa Caracola is a very beautiful, uniquely designed and comfortable beach front bungalow. It is set within a large private garden with a gate leading directly onto the golden sands of the famous Cocles beach. This house is one of the few in the area to be situated in a highly prized beach front plot, as most are situated on the other side of the road. The house has beach, sea and jungle views. This is a self contained open plan, 1 bedroom bungalow.

Casa Caracola is situated within a stunning beach front lot. To the front, there is direct access to the beautiful golden sands of Cocles Beach. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife. The house affords privacy, allowing the residents to truly relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. However, it is also perfectly situated close to the amenities of Cocles and only minutes away from the vibrant town of Puerto Viejo.

The house is within easy walking distance of restaurants, wifi points and grocery stores and it is only an 8 minute drive to Puerto Viejo. It is an ideal vacation spot for people who want to relax to the sound of the waves and jungle. Nature surrounds and enhances the house, whilst maintaining high standards of comfort and design.

We also have a two bedroom, two bathroom house located on the same site called Casa Marisa. This property sleeps 4 people and it is perfect for families. It is also a great house for couples as it has a beautiful elevated master bedroom with handmade four poster bed and en suite tropical bathroom. Please see our separate listing for this property VRBO 427600.

About Sophie

Relaxing in our favourite spot along the beach.

We love Costa Rica, especially the Puerto Viejo and Cocles Beach area. The houses are our dream and we hope that everyone who stays in them enjoys them as much as we do.

Sophie purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Sophie chose Limon Province

Costa Rica offers a wide variety of spectacular terrain , animals and plants. With its unique location it boasts both Pacific and Caribbean coast lines. The Caribbean Coast offers a more relaxed friendly holiday with the added excitement of some extreme sports, for those who want to venture away from the delicious local food, drinks and beach. There are many reasons why Puerto Viejo is known as the most happening town on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. There is so much to see and do here, but far and away the overall vibe here is the 'pura vida' that Costa Rica is so famous for. So whether you come to relax under the palms on one of Puerto Viejo's beautiful beaches or try and tackle the surf at Salsa Brava (just 100 yards away) or Cocles, there is also great snorkeling and diving in the areas active coral reefs. Or how would you like to hike and bike through the jungle? There is also excellent white-water rafting in the area. It is all possible here. Puerto Viejo is also conveniently nestled between two of the area's most beautiful national parks where white-faced and howler monkeys, toucans and sloths abound. You will also want to come just to sample some of the area's famous dishes like the Caribbean-style rice and beans made with coconut and many other exquisite varieties of food in this little village.

What makes this cabin unique

Cocles Beach is the winner of the highly coveted Costa Rican government Blue Flag for pristine beach and is the only lifeguard-protected beach on the Caribbean Coast. The golden sands meet the warm Caribbean ocean and from the beach no buildings are visible. This beach has both great surfing at one end and safe swimming for families with children at the other. Please note that the route to the beach from the beach gate goes through a small strip of jungle (about 10 metres in width). This is national park and therefore cannot be cleared, so at times it can be over grown. If guests have mobility issues, the beach can be easily accessed from the main house gate, where the beach can be reached by just a short two minute walk along a small lane.

Great spot, sound of the surf will put you to sleep.

Very cool place to stay, a short walk to the beach which was amazing, very natural, Fantastic waves every day, very quiet and little foot traffic.

Would be nice if they had a couple of nice light lounge chairs you could take to the beach.

We would definitely stay here again if we return to Puerto Viejo.

Cozy Cottage on the Beach

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at this simple but perfect bungalow. It was the perfect place to relax and listen to the waves. The house was clean and well maintained. Thomas was very helpful and always available. The beach out front is unspoiled and beautiful. Most times we were the only two on it. Monkeys and sloths galore!! The chill town of Puerto Viejo is close enough to enjoy the vibe but far enough away to enjoy the privacy. We will definitely be back!!

Nice Rental for 2

  • 5 of 5

Casa Caracola was a perfect place for the 2 of us for 14 days. We love the location, easy access to everything, secured, private and well maintained. Some of the highlights of the casa were sleeping to the sound of the waves and having cocktails and dinner on the large deck watching howler monkeys jumping from tree to tree above us. Casa Caracola is within walking distance to some of the most beautiful beaches that are not crowded with people. We also had the pleasure of getting to know Thomas, the property manager, who was very informative and helpful with anything we needed. We will definitely stay here again when we return to this area.

Comfortable home base for Caribbean vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent ten wonderful days and eleven nights in this lovely little bungalow just outside of Puerto Viejo. We enjoyed the privacy of this simple though spacious-feeling home and we appreciated the safety afforded by the security system. Aside from a comfortable bed, shower, wifi, and big windows offering a filtered Caribbean view, the home includes everything needed to prepare meals and to feel at home during an extended stay. We shopped for groceries at the nearby Super Cocles and ate most of our dinners out at a variety of local restaurants. After meeting us at a central location, Thomas, the owner's agent, helped us to find our way to the place, which could have been difficult in the dark. Thomas was a great help throughout our stay, connecting us with a massage therapist and providing directions to places of interest to us. He has prepared a booklet of helpful information, found inside the bungalow, to which we referred regularly. We greatly enjoyed our explorations of Cahuita National Park, Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, Puerto Viejo, and the beautiful beaches of this area from our home base at Casa Caracola. Note: we rented a small SUV for this trip, an expensive undertaking in Costa Rica. The drive from San Jose to Puerto Viejo took 7 hours, not the 4.5 , as we'd been advised. The slow traffic (due to road maintenance, accidents, and heavy semi truck use) on a one-lane road is formidable and shouldn't be underestimated. It greatly impacted our desire to get out and explore the Costa Rican landscape beyond Limon. That said, the area around Puerto Viejo is attention-worthy and we enjoyed every minute here.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that these guests enjoyed their stay in Casa Caracola and that it lived up to their expectations. Occasionally the drive does take longer than the usual 4 -5 hours, but this is unusual.

Cute, close to the beach, close to town, great price

  • 4 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Caracola for 5 days in July. We really enjoyed ourselves! The house was simple but nice. The layout is perfect and it felt huge. We especially liked that the bedroom area with floor to ceiling glass doors that opened up to the balcony. We could hear the ocean waves all night. We also never felt hot in the house, even thought it doesn't have AC. It doesn't need AC because the ocean breeze keeps it cool. The house was clean with fresh linens and towels when we arrived. The caretaker, Thomas, was helpful. Especially when we had trouble finding the house upon arrival in the PV area. We couldn't actually SEE the ocean from our balcony because there are some trees between but this didn't bother us-just think it's worth mentioning. We rented bikes from Thomas and were able to get pretty much everywhere in town this way. The bike chains were a little rusty but some oil improved things a lot. The house is a long walk or a quick bike ride from town. It felt like the perfect distance to me. Close enough to access restaurants and shops easily but far enough to escape some of the town noise and traffic. The gardens surrounding the house were beautiful with lots of little critters and pretty flowers. I liked that the property was gated because it let us feel much safer about keeping all the windows open while we slept. My only significant complaint is that the wifi does not work very well within the house. It seems that the wifi router for the entire area is located in the other house. I could get wifi if I was out on the porch/closer to the other house but not from inside Casa Caracola. One other tip for anyone who decides to rent this property, we learned that in the PV area there is a La Caracola and this property Casa Caracola. La Caracola is more well known so you'll have to be very specific with taxi drivers/tour picks ups about the location of where you're staying or they hear Caracola and assume it's the other property. Overall, we were very satisfied! We will definitely consider this house again if we return to the area.

Owner's Response: We thank these guests for their comprehensive review and we are very pleased that they enjoyed their stay. We have recently purchased a new WIFI booster and it usually works well, so we will look into this and improve the strength if possible. The house usually does have ocean views from the terrace, but it does depend on the small strip of jungle in front of the house. Sometimes, the vegetation is denser than others. However, as it's a national park, we cannot touch the trees. The house is steps away front he beach and Caribbean sea. We give guests directions to the house and the address, but we are aware that another house has a very similar name, which can be confusing. We will ensure that all guests have even more detailed directions in future.
