Farmhouse, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)
We met when bidding against each other on the same pieces at an auction for modern furniture. Our shared passion for contemporary design and clean lines is a thread that runs through our lives and is certainly visible at La Corbina, inside and out. We also love to cook and eat good food and enjoy fine wine. To support these hobbies we grow our own organic vegetables and fruits and produce our own wine and olive oil on this small farm. We take great pleasure in sharing our house and our gardens with guests who appreciate similar things in life.

Why Owner chose Gaiole In Chianti
It was the expansive view, the feeling we had looking around in all directions from the top of the hill, that made this place magic to us, that made us fall in love. When we found La Corbina in 1999 during our (week-long) wedding reception nearby, it was a ruin, abandoned for over forty years. There was no water, no electricity, no phone. As everybody was staying in the area for the week, we took our families to look at the property. They all thought we were crazy. The realtor said: I know you are in love with the house now, but when you get back home you will wake up and say: 'what were we thinking?' Hew was wrong. It took us two years to buy La Corbina and several more to bring in the services and painstakingly renovated the house. But we never regretted our decision. For us this is the most beautiful place in the world.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
La Corbina is unique because it is exceptionally large for a two bedroom rental (160sq.m/1700sq.ft). We renovated it for ourselves and wanted to keep it spacious and luxurious. We did not want to maximize the number of bedrooms. There are not many freestanding buildings for four guests for rent in Tuscany. Freestanding buildings are normally for larger parties. Two bedroom accommodations, on the other hand, are usually part of a larger complex where several parties have to stay close together. If you stay at La Corbina you may have more privacy than in your own home: our property is 6.5 hectares / 16 acres and the closest neighbor is 1.8 km / 1 mile away. We have a 'less is more' design philosophy, so La Corbina has a light, minimalist, boutique kind of feel. La Corbina also has a fully equipped kitchen and a vegetable garden to prepare gourmet meals.

La Corbina October 2019
We stayed at the beautiful La Corbina property late September/early October ~ 2 couples ~ 4 people total. It was one of the most peaceful and relaxing places we have ever stayed ~ the views in every direction are absolutely stunning!!!
Paul greeted us upon arrival and gave us a detailed walking tour of the villa and surrounding property. He gave us guidance to the nearest grocery store, where we went and stocked up with three nights of dinner goodies to make at La Corbina! An added simple pleasure was herbs and vegetables in the La Corbina garden and surrounding property, which added even more authenticity to our evening meals 😊
La Corbina provided a perfect base location to explore the Chianti Classico and Brunello wine areas of Tuscany, with lots of charming restaurants to enjoy delicious lunches.
When we return to Tuscany, we will definitely plan to stay at La Corbina ~ THANK YOU Paul and Nicole for all of your work and care to make our stay an indelible memory!!!
La Corbina is a very special place!
La Corbina is a very special place!
The location is private, natural, bright and has beautiful panoramic views.
The house is stylish yet simple with an extremely well equipped kitchen and includes reliable wifi internet and cell service.
The pool is private and has a beautiful view over the valley to San Vincenti.
The grounds are delightful with fruit, grapes or vegetables to enjoy depending on the time of the season.
The owners are nearby but it didn’t interfere with our privacy or enjoyment. In fact, it was really nice and helpful to be able to talk with Paul & Nicole about the area. They had the local knowledge to help us have the best visit.
With the exceptional privacy and views there is naturally a trade off. The driveway is indeed long and a higher clearance car is preferred. We had no problems with our rented Ford CMax. There is a good selection of restaurants within about a 30-45 minute drive.
We loved our stay and definitely intend to return next year!
Wonderful home, gorgeous views, and excellent hosts!
This is a beautiful home and property. The views are breathtaking! We really enjoyed our home - the home was immaculate. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. The kitchen is outstanding. We cooked and relaxed there every day. Our hosts were so generous. They did a terrific job of contacting us in advance so that our trip was so easy. They were so generous. As we visited in late October, the pool was closed. However, we did go up there and check it out - magnificent! We strongly recommend this wonderful home!
Beautiful Rural Tuscany
This location was everything it promised plus more. It is very rural, at the end of a mile long gravel-road drive from the tiny town of San Vincenti. So this is NOT for the person who wants to go down to the coffee shop in the morning to get a cappuccino. However, the house is beautifully and authentically done, wonderfully equipped with every convenience: from the espresso machine, to the meat slicer and the great stove and rustic wood burning fireplace. The views are breathtaking and we watched the star display most nights, as there is almost no light pollution. The house is nestled in the midst of the grapevines and the olive trees - we actually picked some San Givese grapes and made a sauce out of them, as well as enjoyed the owners' house made delicious olive oil. The garden outside the house was on its last leg of production, but we still enjoyed some eggplant, peppers, tomatoes and herbs freshly picked. Paul & Nicole were gracious, friendly and helpful without hovering, allowing us as much privacy as we wanted. They arranged for a visit to a local small and delicious winery for us, provided recommendations and assistance whenever we asked for it. This was exactly the kind of experience we desired: immersing ourselves in the local lifestyle and rhythm and experiencing Tuscany up-close and personal. This is perfect for the independent traveler, who is looking to cook, drink and live the Tuscan way - for the duration of their vacation. There is only one problem... It is mighty hard to leave...
Beautiful Rustic Setting
La Corbina is located in a quiet and picturesque setting far from the hustle and bustle of city living, but not too far from larger cities for day trip exploring.
The house itself has most of the modern conveniences with great privacy for 2 couples traveling together. This place is best enjoyed if relaxation and tranquility are what you seek.
Be aware that the road to and from the house is quite rough if you’re driving a smaller vehicle; opt for a vehicle with decent ground clearance.
Some of our favorite memories from our 9-day stay are visiting a local winery, venturing out to do our food shopping (yeah, that sounds nutty), visits from the local stray cat, coming across a family of alpacas just chilling on the road, watching for (and hoping to see) wild boar, and conversations with our wonderfully accommodating hosts, Paul and Nicole.
We loved our stay. The home and views were spectacular. The pool is outstanding.
The home ticked all of the boxes for our family of four. The owners, live close by and they were very generous with their time. We received many good travel tips that made our stay very enjoyable.
The home is not air conditioned, but if you follow Paul’s tips on keeping the home cool during the day the temperature in the home is comfortable.
Our boys enjoyed daily swimming in the Infiniti pool that sits on a hill above the home and also overlooks the valley.
The home was well equipped when we arrived including two very nice bottles of wine.
The kitchen is also well equipped and includes an espresso machine. There is a charcoal barbecue outside that we used on several occasions.
Herbs and fresh fruit and vegetables surround the home and we used the gardens daily when cooking our meals.
There is a collection of books, including cook books, available to read and use.
La Corbina is an idyllic, tranquil location with awesome 360 degree Tuscan vistas. The home is a perfect setting for a vacation aimed at rest and relaxation and, or, a home base for day trips to other locations in Tuscany.
We would highly recommend this as a vacation destination not to be missed!
