Beautiful, open, airy, ranch style home located next to horse pasture with views of majestic Mt. Sopis from every window. Very private and serene location on the Ranch of The Roaring Fork. A short drive to ski the four Aspen Ski areas without the prohibitive cost of Aspen lodging. Hike, fish or bike the three hundred plus acres of common use land with 3 trout filled steams, seven ponds and two and one half miles of the Roaring Fork River. Trout fishing definately the best in the area. Par Three golf course, tennis courts, playground on property . Awesome new Rio Grande bike path all the way from Aspen to Glenwood Springs where you can enjoy the famous Hot Springs Pool. Perfect location for all outdoor activities all year round. Ideal for multifamily vacations.
We split our time between Denver and Carbondale. Robert is a retired Professor of Human Services at Metropolitan State University of Denver and Robin still teaches full time in the Human Services Department at Metro. Most of our time, when we are in Carbondale, is spent fishing, hiking and biking this magnificent valley , listening to music at the Aspen music festival , and watching sunsets in our beautiful backyard.
Robin or Robert Watson purchased this house in 2000
We have always loved the Roaring Fork Valley, each town having its own unique personality and style. We have been coming here for the past 30 years, hiking and biking and camping. When this beautiful home was up for sale we couldn't resist. It was the best decision we could have made !
Upon first look, we were overwhelmed by the beautiful views from each and every window. This was a house that brought the outdoors, indoors. We fell in love instantly !
I had just arrived in Colorado from New York City and was intrigued by the chance to stay in the mountains for a few days. This home/property was the perfect fit. With jaw-dropping landscapes, beautiful green pastures, majestic horses in the near distance and a breathtaking view of Mount Sopris, standing like a mythical giant directly in front of my eyes made me realize the allure of places like Carbondale.
The home is lovely, with perfect accommodations and tons of space. The home was clean, comfortable and terrifically maintained. The backyard, with its patio and hot tub only helped to further my vacation experience. You get the feeling that you are all alone up there, with the stars and the mountains as your neighbors. It's truly humbling to be surrounded by such beauty and serenity.
The owners are very kind, honest, responsible and accountable. Within close proximity to places like Glenwood Springs and Aspen, plus the multitude of hiking and biking options in the surrounding areas made this one of the greatest travel experiences of my life. It's hard to impress a lifelong big city person like myself, but this home/property, the owners and the location left me awestruck and also sad that I couldn't stay for longer. This place is a goldmine and any people interested in Carbondale and the surrounding area(s) would be foolish not to stay here. A terrific experience all around!
My company rented this property for a Retreat..based entirely on the participants escaping the busy city to relax, rejuvinate, and enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of Colorado. THIS PROPERTY WAS PERFECT for all of these items.
Our stay at this property was more than memorable. The home is huge, with a perfect, PRIVATE location immediatly ajacent to a large horse pasture with views of Mt. Sopris behind it. You truly feel as if you are the only home for miles, as there no other properties in sight.
The home is quite large, very comfortable, and has an amazing back yard and patio- fully equiped with a BBQ and state of the art HOT TUB..we sat on the patio, dipping in and out of the hot tub at night, gazing up at the billions of stars around us..In the day time the horses come up to the fence to say hello..they are absolutely beautiful and look like wild stallions!
The owners are responsible, honest, and professional. They provided a very high level of customer service, and went above and beyond the call of duty to insure we had the best experience possible.
The fishing at the Ranch is the best I have ever experienced in Colorado. The stream system goes on for miles, with beautiful back drops of the surrounding mountains- making for a super experience, even if you dont catch anything..which is highly unlikely.
We enjoyed the endless hiking paths, which meander through various streams, the Roaring Fork River, pastures, and small forests. We even able to see some wildlife- a deer, BALD EAGLES!!, and a beaver.
BEST MOUNTAIN RENTAL I HAVE EVER USED IN COLORADO!
We spent 3 wonderful days at this comfortable lovely home - 2 couples in our early 60's. The location is spectacular, with a stunning view of Mt. Sopris from every window and with soothing Aspen trees close in. The proximity to Aspen and Glenwood Springs and numerous beautiful places around there to hike, fish, and dine make is most convenient. My only gripe is that we didn't spend more time there as we did busy ourselves with the many nearby activities. A REAL TREASURE!
Staying at the Watson's home in Carbondale was more than we ever could have imagined. We arrived late in the evening, and couldn't see the extraordinary view of Mt. Sopris which was right outside the backyard. We loved the privacy and beauty of the landscape, both early in the morning with the frosted dew on the grass, the beautiful horses, and the sun shinging on the tip of Mt. Sopris. We enjoyed riding your bicycles during the day into Carbondale, having a delicious breakfast at the Village Smithy and then returning to watch the sun set in the lakes and streams while walking the grounds of the beautiful ranch. The evening, of course, was topped off by taking a dip in your hot tub, watching the stars, and even getting to see several shooting stars....Thanks you for your hospitality, and beautiful home to vacation in.We will most certainly make this a yearly event !
Nice home in a relaxing and friendly neighborhood. We enjoyed the private backyard views of the horses and Mt. Sopris. Very roomy and loved the heated garage! The home owners are great to work with and provided lots of help and local information. We enjoyed our stay and would gladly rent this home again.
