Our family has been boating for years and have dreamed of getting a second home on the water. This year we finally realized that dream and purchased the cabin in Logsdon Landing.
Wes Sama purchased this cabin in 2011
We purchased this cabin at Nolin Lake because it is a beautiful lake that is perfect for water sports.
We enjoy tubing and wakeboarding with kids and sitting by the fire, roasting smores in the evenings!!!!
We most appreciated the fire pit, three bathrooms, and the multiple seats in the living room. We most enjoyed the nightly bonfire! Such beautiful scenery
When we arrived, we were greeted by a swarm of horseflies, fine (its the woods in August). We wanted a bit off the grid. There was also a gray cat on the front porch. We had to walk our bags to the back door because the cat wanted to come inside. The moment the front door opened the cat was trying to get in. The cat was obviously in distress and meowing when following us. I called owners and their response was to throw water on the cat to make it go away. Nothing we did would deter the animal. It could jump to the upper level porch and did so whenever it heard our voices. It would meow continuously so we were unable to enjoy the fire pit or porch. We contacted animal control and a local shelter and neither would help us. We contacted owners who said they would send someone but that never happened. We had moved our trip up a day and they accommodated us but did not tell the cleaning service so our beds were unmade and the service woke us all at 6:30 am the day after we arrived. We wrote a text to say no one ever dealt with the cat and received no response. After returning home, I texted again and was told I was distasteful for texting at 10:30 and they are not responsible for "wildlife". Our issues were not addressed appropriately. I've stayed at multiple vrbo's and had wonderful experiences. This was the first that I felt "ripped off". We went there to be in the outdoors and couldn't do so because a starving animal was either sitting on my car or either of the porches. Their response was that how can we not deal with a cat. Well, because it caused great anxiety for my daughters and I to see this animal in pain. They knew the animal was there because they had dealt with it 2 weeks prior. Very disappointed.
The property was very clean and everything was how it was described online. The cabin accommodated our group easily and the owners customer service was great. When we had a problem with the oven he had it fixed in less than a day. Thanks for sharing your lake cabin.
We enjoyed this log cabin very much. It was just as described. I am pretty picky about beds and linens, and the towels and sheets here were absolutely clean and the beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. Note that this location is very secluded - which was perfect for us and exactly what we wanted but could be a little creepy if you're not used to the woods. Owners were very responsive to our emails. I would stay here again.
House was great!!! We had all the amenities we need. It was nice having a place that could accommodate 8 people with room to spare. House was clean and having 3 bathrooms was a huge bonus. We will book this cabin again in the fall and next spring. I would highly recommend this home. Thanks to the Dukes their descriptions were right on.
Loved the house and the idea it was secluded in woods. Although it's not close to.the water, we hiked down to the lake and picked up rocks and looked at the neat rock formations. We enjoyed the room and 3 bathrooms. Suggestions is bring a non stick pan and baby gates. We toured the Jim Beam Distillery and it was so neat. We loved the scenery from out the back windows of cabin. The gated drive made us feel even safer. Although it was in country it was still close to town. Thank you Duke's for sharing your home with our family! Can't wait until we return!
This is the second time I've had a gathering here and it won't be the last. The good:
1.) I really love the fireplace and ample seating in the main living room. It's very comfortable and warm.
2.) Nice and secluded with good hiking trails
3.) large kitchen - adequately stocked although wine glasses would have been nice
4.) nice touch to have a christmas tree and decorations - it added to the ambiance
5.) Great to have a second living room (also nicely appointed) although we didn't use it much
Not so good:
1.) The creaky floors - once one person is up, everyone's up :-). Part of the charm I think!
2.) No bar soap (?) in shower. Really appreciated the liquid soap on each bathroom sink but was a bit surprised there wasn't any soap for the showers.
