No phone, but your AT&T or Verizon cell phone works ok and I noticed a new cell tower going up not far away, so we may have 4G or LTE service soon. Free Wi-Fi.
We are Roger and Beth we like boating near our log home on Detroit Lake, Roger is a heavy equipment dealer and Beth is a massage therapist. We welcome our guests and want them to feel at home and totally delighted with their visit to our Santiam river home.
Beth Jensen purchased this house in 2008
Quiet place to get away from it all and we love being next to the Santiam river.
Close to lakes, rivers and 30 minutes to Hoodoo ski area.
Everyone in our group loved the location, the cabin, the woods and everything about this place. Amazing views of the river and the creek out front was wonderful, the woods were lush and green. The deck down by the river was a favorite for everyone along with nightly fires in the fire pit with marshmallows. The large main deck was a great spot for dinner and card games. The proximity to Detroit Lake was perfect allowing for two day trips out on boats on the lake yet once back in the cabin it felt very secluded and isolated in a great way.
We will be back again!
I rented this house to spend some quality time fishing and outdoors with my grandsons from Portland. Having a very bad back, tent camping is out and I need comfortable furniture and beds to sleep in. When my husband and I walked in this house was so clean and much more delightful then the pictures show. My grandsons absolutely were immediately impressed with all the fun things it offered an 8 and 12 year old. They had their own room and bathroom downstairs with an air hockey table and a large assortment of games.
Upstairs is a pool table and they spent some wonderful time with their grandfather playing pool.
We loved the outdoor area and all the seating it provided along with a firepit for s'mores and hot dogs.It also, has a very accessible path leading down to the river with stairs that we were all able to negotiate. They fished and caught 4 trout the week we were there and went swimming on a 95 degree day. There is a perch table down by the river to sit and watch or get reprieve from the sun. I enjoyed walking down there in the morning with my coffee and my grandsons with their cocoa and having some great talks.
The kitchen is well equipped and I lacked nothing for cooking all the meals there along with a nice propane barbeque for outdoor cooking. We were planning on a dinner out but, ate them all there due to the convenience and view we had. The river is beautiful and it is so peaceful there it made for a very memorable vacation for us all.
Two things I enjoyed were the geese that fly up the river several times a day. I could hear them honking when approaching and would step outside to watch them. We saw eagles, osprey and other wildlife. Also, there is a small creek that runs in front of the house with a trail. At night from the master bedroom with the windows open you can hear the rippling sound and it is so relaxing.
The owners were great and you can tell are making improvements and keep up the house. The outdoor deck and furniture look like recent additions and it is well done and very comfortable.
We all agreed it was a fantastic house and we will be returning to make some more s'mores and memories.
This was absolutely perfect. The location was beautiful, right on the river. The house was clean and well equipped. The patios were perfect to sit out and relax and enjoy the river. The house was clean and had everything we could possible need. The fire pit was a plus too! Would definitely recommend and plan on coming back.
My family and I had the most enjoyable and relaxing time. This beautiful home has it all. Situated on the river with a dock and table and chairs we enjoyed watching the river and a few boats pass by while having drinks and snacks. Secluded in a forest there trails for walking and exploring. We only wish we could have stayed longer and are hoping to return in the future. We LOVED it!
Located on the storm-induced Santiam River, a beautiful spot in the forest. Far enough away from the city but only 30 minutes to the freeway. We are sure to be back!
Absolutely LOVED staying here! Private and peaceful. Views are lovely, accommodations are comfortable, and the owners were so kind and easy to communicate with. Such a spacious home, yet cozy at the same time. Well appointed kitchen, plenty of games and books. Billiards table was a hit! The property is gorgeous with a pathway and stairs to the riverbank. We took advantage of the scenery, really enjoying views from the windows and deck, and the walks on the grounds. I loved the personal touches, such as a shelf of books about regional hiking and activities, a number of cookbooks, and a binder of local restaurant menus. We would certainly love to return here!
