The property is a fisherman’s dream. It offers many easy, level entry points into the river which is stocked with rainbow, brook, & brown trout. The natural beach is an inviting spot for sunning and swimming.
Three patios provide lovely areas for outdoor cooking and dining.
Golfers may enjoy playing a round at Achasta, a Jack Nicholas signature course.
Trail rides are available through nearby stables. Shops, museums and restaurants are just a 10 minute drive away in charming, historic Dahlonega.

The charming and historic mountain town of Dahlonega, GA influenced our decision to invest here. Three wineries are located within 2 miles of the property. World class trout fishing is available on the property. Hiking and biking opportunities surround us. Cute shops and wonderful restaurants abound.
We have just completed a total renovation of the property. Lovely gardens grace the lush lawn that stretches from the cottage to the river. Fishermen enjoy numerous, level entry points into the Chestatee. . When guests are inside, a flat screen TV with sports package including all NFL games, huge wood burning fireplace, and fully equipped kitchen make indoor living fun.
My husband and I just enjoyed 5 lazy days at the cottage. We started each day by feeding the trout that hang out in a cool, deep hole near our campfire ring. We spent our mornings gardening, traveling and hiking along the Russell Scenic Highway, shopping in Dahlonega, tubing the river (right in front of the cottage), and having lunch in town. Each afternoon, we sat in beach chairs with our feet in the cool river water while we read great books. We prepared gourmet meals and dined outside under the stars every evening.
We have worked for 2 years to perfect this lovely place. It is in pristine condition. The only thing better than sharing it with others, is spending quite time there with each other.
Just returned from an 8 night stay and hated to leave. Traveled with husband, two teens (15&17) and three small dogs. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the location and the kids rediscovered playing Monopoly at night! House was fully stocked with everything you'd have at home including all cooking needs (even a crock pot, hand mixer and electric griddle), lots of towels, washer and dryer, tubes for the river, wi-fi, dish tv, comfy beds, fire pit on the river with four adirondack chairs, a charcoal grill and a huge lawn. no carpets so no worries with the dogs. House was very clean and well cared for. The house is right between Cleveland and Dahlonega, so as close as you can be to everything in the mountains (close is relative term in the mountains!) Carol and David were so sweet and wonderful to work with. no need for 4x4 in the summer. looking forward to a future visit!
My family of five loved this house on the river. Every summer we spend a week in the Georgia Mountains and budget is important. We have never stayed in a place as nice as this one at this price level. Great A/C, dishwasher and even the ice maker worked great. Very cozy for a couple with room enough for 3 or 4 kids. TV worked fine, just for the news! And the WIFI covers the whole property, could post pics right from the riverside or fire. Just to make others jealous of course.
Plenty to do right there – fishing, tubing, panning, big yard for dog to run and campfires. I caught a 16” Rainbow Trout the first day. Released him, so he’s still there. Actually I spent a lot of time on the bank and the fish got used to me so he and a couple smaller 12” friends would be right there all day. Didn’t have the heart to catch him again so started filming them, sat in river with my GoPro and they would come within inches. Panned some, lots of black sand but no gold this time. Tubed down river to bridge, about 1 ½ hours, take out on Cavendar Creek Rd. - 5 min for the driver. Unfortunately the water level is down a bit, kids had fun, adults hit bottom a lot. (don’t go past that bridge as there is a large waterfall)
If you do need to leave the property everything is close by. Spent the 4th in Dahlonega, went to Helen. Zip lining about an hour away. Took the kids to the zoo, a little corny but still good for under 9 or 10. Tallulah Gorge was about an hour also. So much more but can’t do everything in a week and still relax.
If I have any complaints and it is hard to think of one, but nothing is perfect. House is below and a little close to the road and occasionally there would be some traffic noise. Bikers going by or an ambulance. Couldn’t see them, just heard them. Nights were very quiet though and I don’t want to give the wrong impression here. Just occasionally the outside world would intrude on your peacefulness.
Highly recommend this house if you are in the Dahlonega area.
We had an abosolutely wonderful time. The wife and I pulled out the drive checking our calendars for a time to come back. Our first day back home, we went on line and booked our next stay. We were looking for a pet friendly place to spend a fall weekend and everything in the area seemed to be booked (Gold Rush Days) until we found this neat little cottage. Boy did we luck out. The kitchen had everything we needed and we love cooking outdoors. The rest of the cabin is set in a way that just feels like home. The yard area was beautiful with river running along the edge. We had no idea what Gold Rush Days were and had planned to visit some wineries, go inot town, do some hiking and relax. We made it into town in the morning for part of the event/events and still went to two of the local wineries that afternoon. There wasn't enough time to see the area and enjoy the relaxed setting as much as we would have liked. We cooked out both nights and built a fire in the pit to enjoy the peaceful setting, sunset and local wine. Have booked a longer spring return trip on a non-festival weeked and plan to see more of the area, fish and relax. Thank you for sharing this wonderful cabin.
I stayed in the cottage with my husband, my daughter and our two dogs. I love swimming and I love rivers and this place had everything. We loved it so much that we spent most of the time we were there sitting on the grass looking at the view, swimming in and out of the river, hiking the trail, and tubing. We went to town only for a couple of times to have lunch and it was conveniently close by. The house itself felt like home. Everything about it was perfect. Thank you for sharing your heavenly home. I will be back with my three granddaughters hopefully next year.
The photos for this rental on VBRO do not do it justice. It is warmer and more cozy on the inside that we expected, with dozens of small touches to make it feel more inviting. We were there too early in spring to take full advantage of the river (brrrrr), but the location can not be beat. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds were comfortable, and the living room an inviting place to hang out. It was a great central base for our adventures in Georgia, and would make a great base for exploring the entire northeast corner of the state. We will look to stay here again next time we visit the area.
Very nice cottage and surroundings, excellent for kids, teenagers, pets have a huge lawn and forest to run and explore plus the river to swim in. Excellent location for activities as we did tubing on the river, horseback riding, zip lining, hiking, fishing and visiting the vineyards all within an hour drive. The cottage is comfortable and well stocked, the beds are comfortable so we fully recommend to all that staying here is a great vacation and getaway.
