Welcome to our Southfork Shangri La. Enjoy the end-of-the-road privacy and solitude of our 80 acres of Wyoming Wonderland. No traffic, just birds, bunnies and Bambi’s abounding. Sit on the large deck and enjoy the ever changing light and shadows on the panoramic mountains and views of historic Castle Rock. Take a hike on the BLM land that adjoins our property and wet your line in the beautiful Southfork of the Shoshone River. Roast a hotdog over the riverside fire pit and make s'mores for dessert while watching the river roll by. It’s like camping at Yellowstone without the crowds (and without sleeping in a tent). You may enjoy it so much you forget to go to Yellowstone National Park which is only 60 miles away via the scenic Stagecoach Road.
The cozy guesthouse was renovated with all new furniture, carpet and paint in the Summer of 2009. When you’ve had enough nature and the outdoors head inside, kick back in the leather recliner and catch up on the news or watch a movie on the flat panel TV. At night after watching shooting stars and marveling at the Milky Way, enjoy the queen bed in the master bedroom and tuck the kids or your friends into the aspen log bunk bed in the second bedroom, (a full sized bed with a twin on top). Fear of heights? That’s okay -your guests can sleep on the full sized sleeper sofa in the living room instead.
Your vacation would not be complete without visiting the nearby attractions in fabulous Cody, Wyoming. The World Class museums of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West are a must do and you won’t want to miss the free evening gunfight at the Historic Irma Hotel. Of course if it’s Summer that means there is a Rodeo and a variety of musical reviews to be seen in town too. Want something more adventurous? The area has many opportunities for river rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, ATV’s, hunting, fishing and mountain biking. Bring your boat and go out on nearby Buffalo Bill Reservoir. If It’s Winter then there is downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and world class ice climbing. Day trips can take you to Billings or Red Lodge, MT, to the Pryor Mountains to watch the wild horses, to the beautiful Big Horn Mountains, the Beartooths or to Thermopolis for a dip in the hot springs and the tremendous Dinosaur Museum (home to an Archaeopteryx fossil, one of only 10 in the world). History buffs will enjoy visiting the Heart Mountain Relocation Center where the story of the Japanese Americans who were interned by the government during World War II is told.
Nature lovers, sportsmen, adventure lovers, artists, and folks looking for a quiet spot to just sit and relax will love this cozy cottage. Families will appreciate the large grassy yard for the kids to run and play on. There is plenty of parking for all your cars and RV or boat trailers too. So grab your fishing pole, hiking boots and camera and prepare to fall in love with Wonderful Wyoming.

After nearly 30 years of living in the flat, hot, dry region of West Texas we decided that when we retire we want to see trees, mountains and listen to the sound of running river water for the next 30 years. The quiet, peaceful spot we found is our idea of heaven.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2009
The Cody area is wonderful. The Mountains, the rivers, the trout, the variety of things to do in the area, the small town attitude with cultural events that are normally restricted to bigger cities, the great entertainment and shopping opportunities all met with our needs. It couldn't be better.
Being at the end of the road makes for a lot of peace and quiet that brings a lot of wildlife. Listening to the river while sitting on the deck, fishing right out the back door, sunsets and moon rise over the Mountains, watching the wildlife that shares our yard,(deer, elk, coyotes, rabbits, chukars, hummingbirds, magpies, northern flickers, pine siskens, gold finches, kestrals, hawks, bald eagles, Golden eagles and even the occasional bear or mountain lion). The second largest population of Big Horn Sheep in Wyoming spend the winter in the mountains just down the road. We love going for drives and picnics in the nearby national forest.
If I had known how lovely this property was ,I would have adjusted my Itinerary to spend a couple more days just relaxing here. Our family of 5 decided to visit several national parks this summer, and chose Robin and Jim's cottage for a 3 day stay so we could visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks. The parks were fantastic, but the pleasure we experienced while at the cottage was delightful. My 4 year old grand daughter was thrilled to watch deer follow Jim around , bunnies bouncing all about. Scenery was gorgeous and it felt so peaceful and comfortable. The night skies were so clear and bright.
Everything we could think of needing or wanting was there, even books and hobby horses for the little one. The cottage is beautifully cared for, and Jim and Robyn were most welcoming, ideal hosts. If we ever have another opportunity to visit Cody again, we would jump at a chance to stay here. There was a lot we didn't get to do!
We can't say enough wonderful things about this cabin and location :)! The next time we are out we will absolutely book again.
The kitchen/bathroom/laundry had all you needed, already STOCKED! Wonderful views!
We stayed at this rental for 3 nights in late August and it was so perfect! Jim and Robin were very helpful with any questions we had, and their guest house was spotless, decorated beautifully and the view of the mountains was spectacular. We had a great time watching the rabbits (and there were lots of them) and mule deer. The location was good for us, we were tired of crowds from all our other adventures, and we enjoyed the solitude and quietness of their house. It was about 20+ minutes to Cody, but the drive is easy and the scenery is breathtaking. I would not hesitate to stay with them again if we are ever out in that area again.
We traveled with our family this August. The guest house was clean and well maintained. The views in all directions were breathtaking. We enjoyed sitting out in the evening and watching the rabbits and mule deer that came right into the yard. The owners were very nice and ready to help in any way possible. I'm ready to come back again anytime. This part of the country is beautiful and the people are friendly. We had a super good time! Yellowstone and the Grand Teton's are spectacular!
The pictures do not do this cabin justice. It was decorated beautifully and was very cozy and comfortable. Jim and Robin were very friendly and accommodating. They left a folder of information in the cabin that was very helpful. We also totally enjoyed our conversations with Jim in the evening. It couldn't be in a more beautiful area. Robin even sent our daughters stuffed toy back to us that we accidentally left. Thank you Jim and Robin! We would recommend your property to anyone!
The cottage was very spacious with personal touches that made you feel right at home. The river was easy to walk to and fish at your leisure. There were many rabbits and deer who greeted us each morning. The views were spectacular! The owners were very nice and happy to answer any questions. Yellowstone was a good drive from the cottage, but well worth it.
