Experience lakefront living at its best at Waterstone Inn's lakefront cottage. Owned and operated by the Mulcahy family, who has lived in Greenwood Lake for over 40 years, you'll learn the local in's and out's of the area for a truly memorable stay.
Only a short drive from Manhattan, it's the perfect location for a family getaway or romantic retreat. Imagine if Lake George were only an hour away, that's Greenwood Lake. Perhaps that's why many of our renters have purchased their own properties in town. Come discover Greenwood Lake for yourself.
The Mulcahy Family has enjoyed living in Greenwood Lake for over 40 years. With this property they hope to share a slice of lake living with guests. Denis, retired from the NYPD's Bomb Squad, and his wife Miriam have raised four children (Denis Jr., Maureen, Sean and Tara) in Greenwood Lake and now the entire family works together to manage and maintain the Cottage, as well as, the adjacent Waterstone Inn.
Lisa Mulcahy purchased this cottage in 2008
On the East Arm of the Lake, just down the road from the rowing club, the cottage offers a relaxing setting. We feel like we're on vacation all the time. Sit on the deck and watch the crew boats go by and you'll know why we just had to have this property.
Our family enjoyed a great weekend at the Cottage. The owners of the Inn were very nice and helpful with answering questions about local places/events (both on the phone beforehand and during our stay). The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and very well maintained. The paddle boat looked fun (we saw other B&B visitors paddling back to the dock) but we didn't have the opportunity to use it between other daily plans and intermittent rainy weather.
We ate dinner at some nearby waterfront restaurants which were also terrific, and had a great time exploring Greenwood Lake and nearby towns of Warwick and Tuxedo. It's great that the lakeside cottage is so close to everything: wineries, the drive-in, bowling, antique shops, farms & orchards with country shops. All good things can be found off of Rt 17A!
Our family would definitely think about coming back and have no problem recommending this place to friends.
This is a family run B & B, decorated very tastefully, the cottage was very clean & bright and had everything we needed. Dennis was nice enough to show us the Inns rooms, let us use the paddle boards and tell us about the area. We went over to Warwick about 7 miles away, great little town with awesome shops and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay very much and plan on returning in the fall.
Prior to booking I had a conversation with Lisa the owner. Explained I was planning a girls weekend and there would be 5 adult women staying. I was ensured that the 2 bedroom cottage would sleep 5. In fact she shared that she has even had 2 family with small children stay there. Super excited because the location was directly across the lake for my friends small 2 bed room home I booked.
Well let me tell you it no way can accommodate 5 adults!! We had to rent a second 1 bedroom cottage at a small discount after haggling and told we could stay at Anton's. Really!! I was also offered a blow up that could be placed in the living room which is just big enough to fit the blow up in. We were NEVER offered a discount for our inconvenience and had to pay additional for a 2nd cottage.
Had we known that the cottage would not accommodate us we would NEVER have booked it. We were stuck between a rock and a hard place.
On a positive note it was clean, we had full access to their kayaks, canoes, and boat.
Our family, mom, pop, 8 year hold and 19 mo old, had another wonderful weekend at the Cottage. It's clean, well-maintained, comfortable. The heating system works extremely well and with 2 zones it makes it very easy to regulate. Even in the midst of winter it's charming. The frozen lake just on the other side of the road is irresistible even without skates, but if you're tired of going around in circles on skating rinks, nothing beats skating on a frozen lake. It's proximity to Mt. Peter for skiing is excellent...5 minutes and your home. Equally great is a quick 20 minute drive over to Woodbury Commons to pick up some great deals on clothing and other items.
My family (2 adults, 1 teen girl, 1 tween girl) had a wonderful stay at the Waterstone Inn cottage. The cottage is comfortable, well-maintained and immaculately clean. The beds were comfortable, the linens and towels lovely, the furniture attractive and the service excellent. Virtually every request was fulfilled immediately. In addition to the cottage, the Inn has kyacks and paddle boats availbale for use and they were all well-maintained. There are wifi and major broadcast station television available in the cottage. While small, the kitchen is reasonably well equipped and is capable of turning-out three meals per day for 4 people. We have already made our reservation for next summer.
Ideally located less than 50 miles from Manhattan, the cottage at the Waterstone Inn is lakefront lodging at its best. In addition to all the usual lake activities, Greenwood Lake is also the perfect home base for hiking the Appalachian Trail, visiting New York wine country, skiing, shopping at the world famous Woodbury Commons and is a gateway to Warwick Valley agritourism. Come see why Greenwood Lake has been a recreation destination since the late 1800s.
