I live in New York City where I work in media research. I use the house frequently as a get away.
The Owner purchased this house in 2003
Callicoon area is very beautiful, quiet, and untouched. It is a great place for recreation in the summer with the Delaware River close and miles of great roads for biking. It is beautiful in the fall with changing leaves, and lovely in the winter when moonlight hits the snowy fields. The property is on the edge of a village, and is surprisingly secluded.
The living room is cozy and warm in the fall, winter, and spring with its gas fireplace. From the bedrooms, you hear the sound of the North Branch creek which is 50 feet away. The kitchen is spacious, well equipped, and comfortable for practicing culinary arts, particularly with locally grown/organic food easily available in the area.
There are no words I could say that would do this property justice. The drive up from NYC was breathtaking. Easy to find and so many things along the way. The house was adorable and very comfortable. The best part was the kitchen. It had everything you could want from a waffle maker to wine glasses and every utensil known to man. There were also some of the best known and loved cook books right there on the shelf. This place is the perfect place to stay for a home cook/aspiring chef. There's even a very large dining room table to serve the perfect meal at.
The view from almost every room is perfect in winter. my friend and I sat on the large comfy sofa sipping wine in the warmth of the fireplace watching the snow fall outside. It's so quiet and picturesque. The decor of the house and the colors of the rooms were calming and accessible. All of the rooms were clean and cozy.
The owner was in close contact throughout the entire process and answered all of my questions and phone calls promptly. The house was everything the other reviews said and more. I really hope to spend time there in each season to see all the wonderful things it has to offer.
Really great place to stay. Pictures don't do it justice. Very clean and plenty of room. Also, kitchen is extremely well stocked with everything a cook could need.
We enjoyed staying at this adorable country home. It is furnished very nicely and it was the perfect quite getaway for my family. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks!
