About The Owner

I am a math teacher and my husband is an engineer. We met skiing in the Canadian Rockies and never lost our love of skiing. Years later, we built our dream vacation home at Schweitzer ourselves. It required three long years of dedicated family effort, but it was SO worth it! Now we ski with our three children and friends every chance we get.

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Why The Owner chose Lake Pend Oreille

We love the renowned tree skiing and the breathtaking views of Lake Pend O'Reille. Short to non-existent lift lines make for lots of vertical every day. There are so many runs you can ski a different run all day.

What makes this house unique

The hiking, biking, and huckleberry picking in the summer and fall are an added bonus. The relaxing sound of the creek outside our bedroom windows makes summer stays calming and peaceful.

Nice place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a maximum of 13 people from 4 families for our mid-winter break trip (Feb 2016). We enjoyed having 2 tables for meals and for game-playing as the kids liked to sit separately. I thought the downstairs bathroom area was going to be an issue since 9 of us were sharing it, but the layout lent itself to efficiency and it was never a problem. The bedrooms are pretty spread out, too. It was great having so many hooks in the ski room to dry out all our stuff; plenty of outlets for boot dryers, too. The kitchen was well-stocked and has a double oven which was great for our big group. We did have a problem with the upper oven door not shutting all the way, but it wasn't a big deal. We were surprised there wasn't a handrail on the back steps that lead down from the deck to ski out; just watch your step . Great to have a 2-car garage plus plenty of room out front for the other 2 rigs in our group. Karen was great to work with. We'd had this trip originally scheduled for Feb.2015 but there was no snow; Karen graciously let us roll it over to this yr. We love Schweitzer because it's easy to navigate and has lots of challenging runs. If you don't have good conditions in one area, be sure to explore others; you're sure to find good snow somewhere. It's amazing how different the conditions can be on different runs on the same chair. Great tree runs off the Stella chair! Be sure and get a $5 burger at the Outback on Wednesdays--they're really good!

Great location for a great mountain

  • 5 of 5

Great house with lots of space, everything was spotless and the hot tub was unreal. We were a large croup and was more than enough space for everyone. A very nice house and would highly recommend it.

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We had 4 adults and 7 children spend several days at this home and can absolutely recommend it for a Schweitzer vacation. The home is immaculately clean, well organized and the Ping-Pong table and air-hockey kept the kids busy for hours. There are multiple living areas to allow for privacy and the homeowner was very responsive to any questions. Highly recommend!

Great ski home

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 9 just spent 5 days at the Behr House on a boy's ski trip. The house is very well set up for a large group with each person getting their own bed. Very clean with a great kitchen and Hot Tub. The owner was wonderful to work with no problems at all. our deposit was returned very quickly. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for comfort and quite. The photos are very accurate. Great stay!
