We remodeled the house in 2006 and continue to work on making it more comfortable for our family and guests. 6 Sabal Palm Cottages offers a light, open floor plan, including a new kitchen and hardwood floors throughout and a newly replaced upstairs bathroom. We offer 1 king, 2 doubles and 2 twins. Found in the center of the island, at the end of Sabal Palm Trail, the cottage is minutes away from the beach, as well as the harbor and restaurants, 'Old Baldy', both clubs, the creek access and Maritime market.
For an additional charge, our guests may select temporary membership at either Shoals or Bald Head Island clubs which we are happy to coordinate for you. Shoals club is located at East beach in a superb ocean side setting. It offers both a main pool and smaller child's pool with beautiful ocean views. Informal pool side and restaurant dinning are available as is a small gym. For those wanting to play golf or tennis, Bald Head Island club offers both, as well as a gym and pool. Pool side dinning is available as is more formal dinning within the stylish club house.
Our rates include the use of two 4 seater golf carts, 3 bikes and beach chairs. The rates listed include NC taxes and cleaning so you won't be hit with charges you weren't expecting. We are also offering return guests 5% discount on weekly reservations and do not increase our prices for Holidays. We also accept 3 day rents, perfect for a wedding or golfing get away.

What ever your chosen past time, our house offers a lovely relaxing atmosphere to return to. Relax on the screened porch with a view of the lagoon and enjoy a drink.
Please feel free to call for more information but we live in the UK, so remember we are 5 hours ahead of the east coast! If you prefer, leave me your contact telephone number on the request form and I'll call you back.
We first visited Bald Head Island in Spring 1998 with our children and were immediately taken in by all the island had to offer. Whether taking it easy on the beaches or being more active in the conservation area around us, we have never been short of things to do. As the years went on, we found ourselves returning again and again to Bald Head for our vacations, and in 2004 when we left the United States to live overseas we felt there was no better place to have a vacation home. Our house on Bald Head is our home and one we look forward to returning to when ever we can - it's a place we can truly relax and enjoy each others company. If you have teenagers, a rare treat, I think you'll agree!
Carrie Jose purchased this house in 2005
We originally chose Bald Head, not just because we loved being there, but also because it's just 3 hours from Raleigh. Once in Southport, it's a short 20 minute ferry ride to the island. We chose our house in Sabal Palms because of it's central location. It's just as easy to get to the beach as it is to get to the harbor or market and with our children often using their bikes to get around, that makes it easy for us all. Sabal Palms enjoys a quiet location in the center of the island within a small community. We have a community barbeque located on the gazebo overlooking our lagoon. A perfect place for spotting an alligator whilst waiting for the burgers to cook!
Bald Head island is unique in that no cars are allowed. Getting around in either by golf cart, on foot or by bike which makes for a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. Our house is less than a five minute golf cart ride to the nearest beach or the market. Bald Head is also a breeding ground for the Loggerhead Turtle and guided by the interns during the nesting season, it's possible to see this wonderful creature up close. The conservancy offers a number of different programs from short information sessions to day camps for children during the summer months.
This was our second year at Bald Head Island and we had such a wonderful time! With two young kids, the layout of this home was perfect and it felt spacious and clean. It is perfectly situated in the middle of the Island, close to all attractions and market, and the forest provided needed reprieve from the sun on the beach side. We cooked almost all of our meals and loved the very well stocked kitchen! We look forward to future visits to BHI and to renting this home again.
Rented this property for our 10th year on the island and it could not have been more perfect for our family! Beautiful home with everything you need. Very clean and beautifully decorated and very comfortable! The kitchen Is fully stocked and great for cooking in at night. The location was perfect for getting to the market, golf course and beach. We will definitely rent again. Thank you, Carroe for sharing your home with our family.

Was expecting something smaller.Home is larger than its pictures do it justice.Clean, new, well maintained, modern, and very comfortable.Great floor plan with open first floor kitchen, family room and dining room. Everyone was in the conversation no matter where you were. WIFI, big screens and BLURay players (plays DVDs and CDs) in every room. Water heater is a little small for 6 folks. It is only an issue when 6 are trying to shower one after the other in trying to go out. Pace yourselves and it is not an issue. Home was well appointed with everything you need. Nice rocking chairs on the screened in porch with ceiling fans! Helps move the air around on a steamy night. Home is centrally located and it's easy to get to anywhere on the Island. Quick golf cart ride to beach, country club, marina, anywhere. Can bike to all those too if you have nothing to carry. Owners are easy to work with and the neighbors are friendly. The island had a lot to do and we wish we had stayed longer. Suggestion for folks coming over 4th of July week: 1) Make prepared meal orders from the market the week before you go. They were slammed 4-5 days ahead of time. 2) If you purchase the temporary BHI country club membership and want to attend the big 4th cookout, pay ahead of time to avoid long lines. And get there early...the food was excellent for a mass production. and 3) make dinner reservations at the BHI Country Club the week before you go...it books quickly, you can always cancel. Gym at BHI CC was well appointed. Never had to wait for a machine. Mojo's and Dalphine's restaurant's were excellent. Especially enjoyed Mojo's sushi. Will-o-wisp trivia night was a fun family event. No real night life as this is all about the outdoors. However, Friday night entertainment starts early at the marina (6PM) with DJ and then moves to karaoke at Mojo's, so pack up early if you're departing early Saturday. And be ready to leave when you put your luggage out! Made the mistake of putting it out and then having last minute breakfast and hadn't unloaded the fridge (our bad). Was believing the tram driver would knock on the door to tell us he was here and going to load up and we'd have 5 minutes to wrap things up. No, he knocked on the door to say everything was loaded and we needed to leave right away for other pick ups. Had to make a rushed wrap up and exit. No biggie, but got the blood pumpin' there for a few minutes. Overall outstanding, quality, family time in a great home!
Everything the reviewers say is true - the home is clean, bright, remodeled, bigger than it looks in the pictures, well decorated, and a kitchen ready for any kind of cooking. Carrie is very easy to work with, responsive, and helpful. Added to all of this is the wonderful environment around the house. This is our fourth trip to BHI and this location has the best wildlife viewing! We saw alligators and turtles every day, many times. Each evening, white egrets settled into the trees for the night, and then the bats and toads came out. The home has a nice wrap around porch where we could view everything. We enjoyed sitting on the porch just listening to the frogs and bird calls, watching for the next visitors, coffee, wine, or lemonade in hand. The kids named each animal they saw and then tried to remember the markings so they could call them by name. If you come to BHI to relax and reconnect with nature, this is a great place to do it!
Exceptionally clean. Upholstered furniture like new. Convenient layout with open design. Great tv accessability (we were there during all of the New Years bowl games). Quiet location. Well furnished kitchen. Good WiFi. Like-new golf carts. Comfortable beds. Attractively decorated. Very easy to communicate with home owner. Very easy to work with property management on-site. Wonderful screened-in porch overlooking lagoon (with resident alligator). Great memories!!!
We really enjoyed our stay at this home. This was our second trip to Bald Head Island and this home worked perfectly for our family. The rooms were very spacious and the layout was great. The home was very clean and the kitchen had all the pots /pans we needed to make meals easily. We enjoyed the screened porch and rocking chairs and having access to 2 golf carts was a plus since one of our children still takes afternoon naps (we could meet up later). We highly recommend this rental.
