About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

We remodeled the house in 2006 and continue to work on making it more comfortable for our family and guests. 6 Sabal Palm Cottages offers a light, open floor plan, including a new kitchen and hardwood floors throughout and a newly replaced upstairs bathroom. We offer 1 king, 2 doubles and 2 twins. Found in the center of the island, at the end of Sabal Palm Trail, the cottage is minutes away from the beach, as well as the harbor and restaurants, 'Old Baldy', both clubs, the creek access and Maritime market.

For an additional charge, our guests may select temporary membership at either Shoals or Bald Head Island clubs which we are happy to coordinate for you. Shoals club is located at East beach in a superb ocean side setting. It offers both a main pool and smaller child's pool with beautiful ocean views. Informal pool side and restaurant dinning are available as is a small gym. For those wanting to play golf or tennis, Bald Head Island club offers both, as well as a gym and pool. Pool side dinning is available as is more formal dinning within the stylish club house.

Our rates include the use of two 4 seater golf carts, 3 bikes and beach chairs. The rates listed include NC taxes and cleaning so you won't be hit with charges you weren't expecting. We are also offering return guests 5% discount on weekly reservations and do not increase our prices for Holidays. We also accept 3 day rents, perfect for a wedding or golfing get away.

If you are not familiar with Bald Head Island, imagine a quiet, relaxing place with beautiful and varied surroundings. Whether you are looking for an active vacation on the water or on land or one spent enjoying the 14 miles of wonderful beaches, there's something for everyone. Fishing, sailing, kayaking, golfing ,biking, beach combing, nature trails, exploring the island after dark or turtle watching with the interns. What ever your chosen past time, our house offers a lovely relaxing atmosphere to return to. Relax on the screened porch with a view of the lagoon and enjoy a drink.

Please feel free to call for more information but we live in the UK, so remember we are 5 hours ahead of the east coast! If you prefer, leave me your contact telephone number on the request form and I'll call you back.

About Carrie Jose

We first visited Bald Head Island in Spring 1998 with our children and were immediately taken in by all the island had to offer. Whether taking it easy on the beaches or being more active in the conservation area around us, we have never been short of things to do. As the years went on, we found ourselves returning again and again to Bald Head for our vacations, and in 2004 when we left the United States to live overseas we felt there was no better place to have a vacation home. Our house on Bald Head is our home and one we look forward to returning to when ever we can - it's a place we can truly relax and enjoy each others company. If you have teenagers, a rare treat, I think you'll agree!

Carrie Jose purchased this house in 2005

Why Carrie Jose chose Bald Head Island

We originally chose Bald Head, not just because we loved being there, but also because it's just 3 hours from Raleigh. Once in Southport, it's a short 20 minute ferry ride to the island. We chose our house in Sabal Palms because of it's central location. It's just as easy to get to the beach as it is to get to the harbor or market and with our children often using their bikes to get around, that makes it easy for us all. Sabal Palms enjoys a quiet location in the center of the island within a small community. We have a community barbeque located on the gazebo overlooking our lagoon. A perfect place for spotting an alligator whilst waiting for the burgers to cook!

What makes this house unique

Bald Head island is unique in that no cars are allowed. Getting around in either by golf cart, on foot or by bike which makes for a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. Our house is less than a five minute golf cart ride to the nearest beach or the market. Bald Head is also a breeding ground for the Loggerhead Turtle and guided by the interns during the nesting season, it's possible to see this wonderful creature up close. The conservancy offers a number of different programs from short information sessions to day camps for children during the summer months.

Everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Carrie's BHI cottage! The house was very clean and well stocked. We were happy to have the second golf cart, as well as bikes (3) and plenty of beach chairs. The Living area was large and the sofa was so comfortable! Convenient location close to the market and BHI club. Will definitely return! Thanks Carrie!

Owner's Response: As our kids have grown, we have found is necessary to have a second cart and an extra big sofa! The location of the house is great isn't it? Tucked away quietly by the lagoon and close to the market, BHI club and harbour restaurants. We love return renters!

Another Perfect BHI Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year at 6 Sabal Palms and we were so happy to be back! It's such a peaceful location, central to anything you want to see/do on the Island. We were able to see two gators and plenty of beautiful wildlife just outside of the home. If you love to cook and want a well-stocked kitchen, this is a perfect home for you!

The property was great.

I loved the property and location. I would probably prefer a master on the main level vs. upstairs, but that is my only suggestion.

Wonderful beach house!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well-maintained and well-stocked home. We stayed for a week with our college age daughters and had a fantastic time. The two golf carts were handy and we enjoyed the bikes. This house is in excellent condition, is very clean, and in a great location on the island. We purchased a temporary membership to the Shoals Club which we used throughout the week. We will definitely recommend this property!

Owner's Response: With 4 drivers in the house, we find the 2 carts really useful too, and with the addition of the bikes, which we've recently had fully serviced, it really helps to enjoy the island. We have a house manager who lives on the island and who is available to help with any queries or concerns renters may have, although we love it when there aren't any!

This house has everything it promises

  • 5 of 5

I've been vacationing at BHI for about 10 years. This was my first time to stay in the interior of the island, and we really enjoyed the forest canopy. The home was bright and clean and very comfortably furnished. Our family of four (two college-age children) had more than enough space and appreciated having 3 full baths. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare and serve breakfast and some lunches and dinners. The carts were fully charged and in good working order, and we used the bicycles, as well. We opted for the BHI Club membership for the week, where we enjoyed the pool, restaurants, tennis, golf and fitness center. In my planning stages, Carrie was very responsive to my questions and needs. There was a property manager on the island, but we did not need anything. It felt like home to us. I would certainly return.

Owner's Response: The forest canopy adds such a different dimension to the island, yet you're still so close to the ocean and beaches. We love listening to the tree frogs and cicadas at different times of the day when we're on the porch. Guests staying in our home can choose to purchase temporary memberships at either Bald Head Island Club or Shoals.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home! My mom and I agreed it was the most well-stocked kitchen we've ever seen in a rental. The home was simple and tasteful. We enjoyed every aspect of our week and would definitely come again.
