Shenandoah Valley Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Turn off your computer, set down your smartphone. Reconnect with nature and loved ones in the Shenandoah River Valley at The River House.

Enjoy your morning coffee watching wildlife on the river. Listen to the flow of water and the breeze in the trees. The Massanutten mountain range is in the distance, plan a hike. The river is at your feet, go kayaking. The hammock is strung between the trees, hang out and read a book.

The firepit is ready and waiting to toast marshmallows. The moon reflects on the river. The locusts sing their song. Sit back and relax. Enjoy the cool, crisp fall evenings gathered with your friends/family around the warmth of the fire.

Everything is here, at The River House, to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Come! We'd love to share our little piece of the river with you.

We are 2 hours west of Washington DC in Luray Virginia.

About Anne

Anne Ulrich - I live in northern Virginia with my 2 daughters.

Anne purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Anne chose Shenandoah Valley

We bought this property so we could spend time here and share it too! Our kids are growing up fast and we realized the need to show them more than the suburban environment they live in. Luray has so much to offer: Luray Caverns, hiking, tubing, kayak/canoeing, mountain biking, campfires, Skyline Drive, not to mention all the stars! It's truly a great way to reconnect with your family and yourself.

What makes this cabin unique

There is not one home on the rental market in Luray that has better river views than we do. Our house is 30 feet from the river's edge. Step out the door and you are there!

Incredible location, perfectly equipped, supremely relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Terrific experience top to bottom. We enjoyed our first stay so much we came back with our adult children a month later. Everyone enjoyed the experience, especially fishing off the back lawn and fire pit -- we spent the majority of our time outside, even with rain. Highly recommend a canoe outing, it was very relaxing. The other unexpected fun we had was a trip through Luray Caverns - while we did this when the kids were small, going through the caverns with grown children was so enjoyable in that we weren't chasing anyone this time around. Highly recommend this rental.

Perfect River Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin met all of our requirements; clean, comfortable, excellent river access, fire pit, hot tub, privacy, and a very pleasant and helpful owner. We could not have been more pleased. We will definitely return.

Simply stunning

  • 5 of 5

A lovely, well-equipped house in an amazing location. My grown up children are hard to impress but this place did make their jaws drop! We were very lucky with the weather and were able to have a few days of complete relaxation with a bit of leisurely kayaking to try and photograph the neighbourhood turtles. Hot tub was great - once it had cooled down a bit - phew! Wish we could have stayed longer.

LOVED LOVED LOVED THE RIVER HOUSE!

  • 5 of 5

First, I will start off by saying that the owner of the River House far exceeded our expectations! She is wonderful, has great communitcation, and made sure that we were having a great time. My husband and I rented this for a weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday with my sister/brother in-law. The home was very clean and some updates have been done since the pictures were taken. It is much larger than it seems. The kitchen is big, dining room is very nice, and we loved how close it was to the river. It's literally about 40ft away from the house. We made complete use of the fire pit, grilled steaks on the charcol grill that was at the house, played corn hole (provided by owner), spent hours on the back porch playing cards, and we enjoyed the hot tub. It's not a far drive to Luray if you want to go into town to get things. We ate lunch at a nice little place called "55 East Main Brew House and Grill", which had massive burritos, chips, beer, and was delicious. The house was stocked with everything we needed other than charcol for the grill. Luray has a Walmart, Dollar General, Pizza place, plenty of places to pick up things you may need. The beds were very comfortable, they had lots of board games, plenty of playing cards, a speaker in the dining room to hook your phone up to to play music, the internet worked good, they had movies and access to Netflix and Amazon movies, but we spent most of our time outside, enjoying the fantastic views of the river and mountains! There are plenty of towels in the bathroom, and the owner had soap, shampoo, hair dryer, etc...just in-case we forgot. Coffee filters were provided, sugar, paper towels, matches, toilet paper, waffle maker, plenty of dishes and silverware there. You can use wood for the fire pit that is laying around the property or simply buy pre-cut wood. We saw a place just a couple miles down the road that had a nice bundle for $5-$10. This place was so great! We will be back. My in-laws loved it too. Wish we could have spent more time there. The road in was a little rough, but we figured the the road wraps around and it was much smoother coming around from the other side. There are canoe rentals just a few miles down the road too. I am a realtor and this is where I will send my clients when they buy/sell with me. Perfect gift for a nice relaxing weekend. We will be back Anne and Thankyou for sharing your wonderful home with us!!!!

An Extraordinary Experience Just off the River

  • 5 of 5

It was a great stay at this river house. Lots of options available. We enjoyed the river view from the patio. Having breakfast at the screened patio overlooking the river with sun rise was hilarious. House was clean and spacious. Excellent for kids and families. We enjoyed playing games on the yard, which is flat and safe for kids. Definitely would revisit this beautiful home.

Amazing House with Everything You Need, Right By The River

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 4 friends had an excellent weekend at the River House. The location was amazing, literally feet to the river. The house had everything we needed for a fun weekend away. Our favorites were the screened in porch, fire pit, and hot tub, all of which made for a relaxing and exciting weekend. Close to DC, Lurray and good hiking as well, couldn't have asked for more. The owner is very attentive and helpful as well, a big plus when renting a house on the internet. I will definitely be back next year.
