Romantic Sonoma Getaway on Private Vineyard

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

Minimum Stay

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2), Vineyard and Mountain Views

Enjoy all that Wine Country has to offer while staying in your own cottage overlooking a private vineyard and the mountains beyond. Separate from the main house, this restored craftsman-style water tower has an almost storybook feel with beautiful exposed beams, light streaming in through the sliding glass doors and picture windows that open up to vast vineyards.

The cottage is located in the famed Buena Vista region on the Eastside of Sonoma and has unbeatable views! You will be within walking distance of California's finest wineries, a mere mile and a half away from Sonoma's historic plaza, and equally close to many beautiful hiking trails. All of this is made even more accessible with the complementary use of matching Schwinn cruisers and helmets!

Drive in through our vineyards and park right next to the cottage. The bedroom is located above the bath and living area giving the house a very cozy loft-style feel. The mattress is very comfortable, the sheets are soft, and we even offer fluffy robes to cuddle up in. The living area is equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and the entire cottage has wifi access. It also features your own private patio complete with a bistro table and chairs to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee, the moonrise with a glass of wine, or to just sit outside and enjoy the breathtaking views!

So go visit a winery, enjoy downtown Sonoma, or just sit back and relax on your own quiet patio. We'd love to have you!

About Lucy Petricka

Hi, I'm Lucy and my dad John and I are lucky to have one of the premier vineyard properties east of the Sonoma Plaza, in the countryside but close to town. I live part time here with my dad and part time in San Francisco. I grew up here and know how lucky I am to consider this home and John has been living here in Sonoma for over 40 years and his love for this town has only grown since.

Lucy Petricka purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Lucy Petricka chose Sonoma County

My family fell in love with the property from the very beginning. John had a vision, as a creative master cabinet maker all his life, for the old craftsman style bungalow that was set to be bulldozed. His vision became a reality and a few years later we won the Award of Excellence from the Sonoma League for Historic Preservation. From there we continued to restore the old barn sight and vineyard cottage. Today we enjoy our 8.5 acres and the magic of the land continues to amaze us.

What makes this cottage unique

John's passion is old cars, and right next door to the cottage is a barn full of antique cars and when John is home he loves to take our guests on a tour. We also have matching his and her Schwinn bikes and helmets for our guests to use as it is a short ride to downtown or just enjoy riding to the different wineries close by. You can play your iPod or iPhone on a small portable Altec Lansing docking station and there's a small television. We also bottle our own wine and at certain times of the year you might be able to do some barrel tasting!

The property was lovely. Private. We didn't take advantage of the bikes due to the weather but it was a short drive to wineries and dinner places. We would definitely stay again

This property is absolutely incredible. From the amazing Vineyard views that you look at right out your front door to the charming nature that it is set in this really is hard to beat. It's not a huge place but has everything you could possibly need and the location is simply off the charts. John the owner could not have been more welcoming and we would do it again in an instant. Cheers and thank you for a great start to our honeymoon!

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful gem for our 16th anniversary. The place was quiet and quaint. It was so beautiful and the views were breath taking. The accommodations were fantastic! The bikes were awesome and to be able to ride the bikes to other surrounding vineyards was fantastic and a must do if you stay here. The cat Calvin is as advertised, very friendly. Thank you for providing us an experience of a lifetime!...I will definitely be coming back.

We stayed at The Petricka's cottage for two nights in Sonoma and it was perfect. The space is just the right size for two people and there are a ton of great wineries nearby. The bikes were great and we took advantage of their restaurant recommendations - the sunflower cafe is amazing for breakfast. We had everything we needed and nothing beat the views from the bedroom - we saw the most gorgeous sunrises of our life over those vineyards. I highly recommend this property. It made our stay in Sonoma that much more memorable and enjoyable.

Location, value & Bicycles!

We booked this unit for 3 specific reasons: (1) proximity to Sonoma town square and Gundlach Bundschu... where we got married a year ago, (2) the bicycles offered by the host for guest use and (3) the value. Can get pricey in the area and this was about as affordable as it comes per night for a room. Minus a hotel on the square, there are not many options we found on VRBO or AirBnB that accommodated our budget. Easy bike ride or super short drive into town. The bikes were a big draw for us. More owners should take note of this amenity. We had SO MUCH FUN touring 3 wineries we found within an easy ride of this location. Price is what it is for who's looking. Some other notes: The grounds are incredible. Probably the best VRBO exterior accommodations. This unit has a cute little patio over looking the vineyard. And it's maybe a 100 yards off the road, so super quiet and private. Interior is a little tight, but clean and well tended. This unit is an old converted water tower. Upstairs is a queen bed tucked neatly into the entire space. The sliding glass doors overlooking the vineyard is a nice touch. The downstairs has the bathroom (a bit of a trick for middle of the night bathroom run) and small living area. There's a microwave, coffee maker (coffee provided, along with sugar, no cream) and small bar fridge... with tons of small bottles of water! It was a warm OCT day and the unit was a little warm. There is a window A/C upstairs that did keep the space cool... but it was a bit loud. We reverted to turning that off and opening up the window/door that did cool down to a very comfortable temp at night. One note that I'm sure is being addressed based on conversations with some maintenance folks on site (owners were out of town during our stay). There were some vermins crawling around the 'attic' during the night. Believe they were bats. I have every expectation that will be dealt with immediately. Book with confidence. We plan to be back each year to celebrate our anniversary and we won't hesitate to stay here again.
